This place does not deserve its entry in the Extra Mile. Waited quite a while for a simple baked potato and cheese. The cheese was minimal - a dusting - and too much butter. No side salad or any accompanying food to enjoy. Just under £10. The mark up is huge - effectively 50p to buy ingredients. I mentioned the lack of cheese and my disappointment. Met with lack of interest and no apology or reaction by three staff.

We booked a table here about 2 weeks prior to meeting up with friends, we picked here as a mid way point us from Cambridge them from Swindon. When we arrived 30th Dec we were told they hadn’t had a chef for about 3 weeks and weren’t offering food, we explained we had booked and hadn’t been told this apparently we SHOULD have been informed! Not great when you have travelled 60+ miles to be there and you’re in a town you don’t know !!! Very bad show !!!!

Booked a table here for 1430 on Saturday 21st December. We use this restaurant fairly frequently as we have never had a bad meal. Today was no different we was a party of 7 adults our table was ready on arrival so didn't have to wait we were served today by a waoter called Laura which we found him very freindly and helpful. We were told on arrival that there was a food shortage and trouble we delivery's so they had a reduced menu but that wasn't a problem as our party had steak, chicken, roast turkey dinner and chicken burgers and veg etc,all food was well cooked and we ate all the starters, mains and puddings so that speaks volumes. Thanks again to the team at The Turnpike and see you again on Boxing day.🎄👍

What a wonderful little pub, we have been a few times to the bull since Dean has taken over and what a change he has made. We’ve tried the carvery and pizzas and it is all delicious we can’t wait to see what else they may have to offer. The kids love the bouncy castle and it is the best pub garden in Towcester. Well done to all the team, I feel the pub will strive again. Thank you!

We`d just finished a Croughton circular walk, and needed "refreshment" afterwards. One of the locals said hello as we walked in. Staff were friendly, and there was Tribute, Wainwrights and Directors on tap. I went for the Directors, which was very good. The menu was on the wall, and was varied, lots of it homemade, and great value for money. Sadly, we`re quite a drive away, otherwise it would be become my local. Note to self: have a meal BEFORE going on Croughton circular walk.

Went here for an evening never again, awful cheap drinks and food was not cooked properly. Please avoid this pub at all costs. Previous owner was lovely but new owner is a Fraudster and steals people’s money. If your thinking about going here with your husband think again, as the owner Vicky has a history stealing peoples money. And brought this pub with fraudulent money , the locals are all aware what kind of person the owner is and will be avoiding this place for now on.

Been several times over the last 12 months. Probably one breakfast was a bit lacking otherwise really good and great value. Atmosphere is 3 stars. Sometime it’s full of great people, but sometimes you get a number of pretentious people who feel they need the room to hear their opinions.

The new owners are lovely and have made such a positive impact on this village pub! The food is great and portion sizes even better. They also do special nights with singers etc which is a real treat as there aren’t many pubs with live music these days. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant / village pub.
