Exceptionally bad fish and chips. The batter was soggy and swimming in grease. The chips were tasteless and soggy. This place used to be excellent a few years ago but sadly is now the worst fish & chips Iāve had for a long time. I couldnāt finish the meal as it was that bad. At over Ā£12 for a small cod and chips itās a total rip off as well. Never again.

The food in general was of a standard for a gastro pub but the attention to detail is where things went slightly off. The beef was of exceptional standard but was served on a pin wheel sized plate along with the potatoes that had only seen the inside of rational for a few mins for reheat. The Yorkshire was tasty and had been cooked in a good bit of dripping , for me the worst part of the meal was the gravy that had either been water down due to amount of covers or taken from the puddle outside of the front door. It was cold and lacked and any form of flavour and was cascaded on the plate similar to the water from when you clean dirty boots. Overall nice environment with an emphasis that the attention to detail could be slightly better.

Having elbowed our way through the Victoria Park crowd, we found a table to rest our elbows. This place is dog-friendlyš, so you might get your elbow licked by a friendly fluffy oneš . Coffeeāwas on the heavily roasted side but still decent. Poached eggsš³were tender and dripped all over my elbows. Dining room was busy, and kitchen staff are clearly not afraid of a little elbow greasešŖ. Service staff were friendly, except the two elderly grumpy ladies who gave us the cold shoulder and elbow upon seeing our dogš while trying to get past. There was no space in the room to swing an elbow, so they should show more considerations with their mannerism. Outdoor area is now shut, so you would have to refrain from sticking out an elbow when getting out of seat. Generally pleasant, but until the outdoor area is open again I wouldn't want to be back in fear of other customers' extending elbows in a crowded space. Once open again, I may return and hopefully see the dog-unfriendly big-elbowed ladies in better form.

We pre-booked a large group table for a 40th birthday and upon arrival were told they had completely run out of the veggie/vegan option, had run out of the sides and also the mulled cider. We had called twice in advance to check there would be options for veggies as the girl whoās birthday it was is a veggie and she couldnāt even eat a proper dinner on her special day. The veggies in our group were offered a bland plate of vegetables and potatoes. Our group ended up being split with those who could eat and those who couldnāt so we had to leave early to get food elsewhere. Terrible service and planning from the pub / staff. The food we did have was average at best. Wrote a complaint email and got fobbed off with some rubbish excuse about food waste and that we didnāt state exactly how many veggies there would be at the start. Bearing in mind we booked in advance and called twice beforehand to ask about veggie options this is is irrelevant as we were never asked for a pre-order nor did any of the staff suggest this or warn us they may run out. Overall, would not recommend, there are hundreds of excellent pubs in London - this is not one of them.
