We came to the greyhound for Sunday roast as a family of 5. Firstly the food was delicious! We had roast beef, roast ham and macaroni cheese followed by syrup sponge with custard mixed fruit pavlova and ice cream...the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us...they made us starters even though they weren't on the menu for Sunday and even made up a small bowl of food for the baby at our request. Nothing was too much trouble...we all left full and satisfied. We will most definitely be back. Thank you so much for an amazing meal experience. Richard

The staff were very friendly and efficient. However, I agree with others that for the price I was expecting better food. We went on a Sunday and had various meals either from the Sunday roast menu and the main menu. All of which was priced at bistro pub prices, so I was disappointed that it was basic pub food with a small amount of bland vegetables. Very generous portions of the rest of the food though.

Sunday lunch was great. Group of 4 of which 2 had the lamb and 2 had the beef. Gorgeous.

Such a shame, such an attractive setting, lovely building, nice style and comfortable. We visited on New Years Day, it was very quiet with only a few tables, the food was very average, the Beef Sandwhich was filled with chewy chunks of overcooked beef and we had a very basic Risotto. The service lacked any attentiveness or care - we had to look over to get attention to order drinks or ask to get our plates cleared and get the bill. The staff had absolutely no interest in us, didn’t ask how anything was and just generally made the whole atmosphere flat. Such below average food considering the price and poor service and just generally underwhelming despite such a lovely premises. Considering how quiet it was we expected to have been welcomed a bit more and had a much nicer experience. Perhaps we got there on an off day!

We thoroughly enjoyed a French evening with a French wine flight. It was one of the nicest wine flights we have ever had. The food was delicious. Robert the sommelier was engaging and amusing. We weren't sure what to expect but it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. All guests were on one long table which was a refreshing change.

So we found this little gem as a stopover on the way home to Yorkshire, having spent 7 nights in Scotland, in our Motorhome. Free parking IF you are eating or drinking in the pub, they ask you to ring ahead and let them know you are coming, to enable them to manage their private car park. A warm welcome ensued from staff, chef, regulars and doggies. Very dog freindly. Great drinks and lovely food, reasonably priced. Hubby had the huge, very tasty burger and I had the nicest fish pie I've ever had. I brought half home as the portions are very generous. I would recommend you seek this place out, we will certainly return.

We’re regulars in the pub, we thought that we would check out the new menu! We didn’t wait long for food, was delicious. We overheard that the pub was going through some chef changes this didn’t affect our food it was the best soufflé I’ve had in a while!! Would highly recommend, lovely staff members!

I loved the atmosphere of this cosy cafe with jazz music playingin the background and art on the walls to browse. Food hot and appetising and very competitively priced. The medium latte was amply large and again lovely and hot. Would happily visit again to try something else on the menu. Good choice of vegetarian food such as mushroom and emmentaal panini or toastie rather than just the ubiquitous cheese and tomato sandwich. Also offers small soup with a sandwich on the side.

Huge thanks to Colin and his brilliant team. Gary for the fabulous food (I will be trying the tip about perfectly poached eggs) and to Sam and Chloe for looking after us. A great place to stopover if doing a north/south or south/north drive. Only a few minutes from the M6 and easy to find. Rooms were large and very nicely decorated, we had bath and shower. The bar/restaurant has roaring fires at both ends making it very toasty as you savour a tipple before dinner and admire the Christmas decorations. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team, thank you. Wishing you all the very best.

Attended a reunion with friends here, private dining on the terrace, the service was appalling, they had 3 large parties and obviously insufficient staff. The starter arrived some 25 minutes late, tepid soup, not very appetising, then a 55 minute wait for the mains, overcooked beef and lukewarm veg, no gravy, the a wait for sweet, sticky toffee pudding, can't go wrong with that, oh yes they could, pudding had sort of crust on it and was served with a miniscule portion of ice cream. All in all a huge disappointment and not what we expected, they really need to up their game.

Well kept secret! Although this hotel is in centre of town the restaurant is surprisingly quiet. Not frequented by many locals. The food here is excellent. Great menu, every course we had was delicious. Our party had beautiful cheese soufflés, seafood pappardelle, cod, and chicken mains, all well presented and tasty. Lovely desserts too. A couple of bottles of wine reasonably priced. Everyone enjoyed the dinner and would definitely make a return visit.

We’ve just returned from an incredible evening at the March Bank hotel. I booked a table for a family of five - including 2 fussy teenagers! Every plate went back clean. The service, the food and the whole experience were amazing. Seriously cannot fault it. Located in a beautifully decorated house, with great original art works it was a truly great meal hosted by a lovely family. Can’t wait to come back.

Lovely visit for a quick lunch with the dog. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food is tasty. Highly recommend the soup - homemade and delicious! Will definitely visit again
