An example of when a change of manager can positively change an atmosphere and demographic for the better. What a turnaround. Previously a 'dirty pint ' pub for builders with an edgy atmosphere in my view, it's now pivoted firmly to regular folk of all ages and families & is a lot more welcoming as a result. The problems seem to have been eliminated and there's a real sense of engagement with the community. The service is great, the ale is fine and the food looked great value. Well done Toni, you're exactly what the licensed trade & the pub needs.

Came here on Xmas eve to have a meal we where a family of 15, we had booked this at least a week ahead, on arrival we were told table would be ready in 10 minutes, manager Becky was rude to one of our family members at the bar, all he said was have a smile it’s Christmas, her reply was don’t speak to me like that!!, not sure what her problem was, maybe she is not happy in her role. 30 minutes later still no table, on speaking with the manager Becky again she was very rude and said we had a right to go somewhere else, what sort of manager is that who will turn away 15 people, finally our table was ready on entering upstairs we were shocked that there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, table still not ready we had to ask for more chairs, the restaurant staff were very pleasant, we started to order our food and was told a few of the meals were off the menu, I am sure we should have been told that on being seated, due to 2 people only eating fish &chips which was off we decided to leave, we have visited this restaurant many times before but never have we had such terrible service and been spoken to by such a terrible manager, this experience really upset the whole family, not sure this is somewhere we will attend again soon/ not sure making the complaint helped, as we have not heard anything back from this complaint raised. I got a reply on this review on the website telling me they have responded to my complaint which I have not received, the review reported there are 2 sides to the story, this reply seems to have been replied to by the manager the compliant is about. I also have asked if you could give me a number to your head office ? again no response.

You can't come to Brighton without visiting this iconic hotel. We sat in the bar and had an afternoon snack. BLT | Toasted bread, streaky bacon. gem luttuce. homemade £14. Smoked salmon & tiger prawn. iceburg lettuce, avocado. lemon. £16. And two pots of tea. Thought the prices were quite reasonable for such an impressive hotel. The service was good and we especially like it here as you can sit with your dogs.

Just ate the must tasteless tomato soup and even worse Silverside sold as a sirloin steak in the bar at the Grand Hotel Brighton. I thought the sirloin steak tasted poor quality, joined at the table by two butchers and all three of us agreed it was silverside sold as Sirloin l. Unbelievable

Nunca he visto nada igual

Food was delicious, the sauce that comes with the sea bass was amazing. And they substituted the House salad for the Caesar salad without complaint which I really appreciate. But it took over an hour to get any food to me from when I ordered to when I was served, and midweek that is bad. They apologised for it which is good, but I can't ignore how long service took. On the bright side they let me in despite being dressed as a hobo, so they don't discriminate.

Berty the Kemp Town badger likes this deli and hangs around the back door in anticipation of tasty 🥜🥜. Berty the Badger has since relocated to Hastings, but is Kemp Town through and through. He's a rather well groomed and dapper chappy, who is flappy pawed and a bit limp wristed to say the least. If you encounter him he is very friendly and will bow his head for you to stroke the stripes. I first encountered him hanging around with the bovver boy badger gang in east Hastings. He stood out though, and had a metrosexual air about him. I guess he's still mincing about in the woods out there, but I always think about him but n quiet reflection. By the way, I love your deli and it serves gorgeous lasagne and salads. If I'm ever back down that way I'll bob in. Enjoy the photo of Berty. He's raising his paw in the image, that's what inspired his nickname.
