I have visited this place several times a year whilst driving down to see my son and have done so for some time now. I have reviewed it before and have never had any issues whatsoever and every year we visit for the Christmas menu. This year was no exception and we both had pre ordered Chicken Parfait starter, Roast Turkey and brownie and Ice cream. We were seated in the conservatory area as my dog was with us. This place is VERY dog friendly and Mabel did very nicely with treats supplied by the waiting staff. The starter was really pleasant and gave the impression of being homemade and certainly not bought in BUT the turkey main course was on another level. Everything on the plate was absolutely perfectly cooked from the pigs in blankets to the standout roast potatoes with a large bowl of carrots, sprouts, broccoli and green beans being similarly well cooked. I can say in all honesty that I have never had a better " festive menu" in any establishment and I doubt mu own efforts on Xmas day will be as good. To top it off the chocolate brownie was top notch and was once again prepared from scratch on site. The waiting staff are very much on the ball with drinks service to the table and never seem to stop and nothing appears to be much trouble. You do have to wait a little time for the food but it's a very small kitchen and a very busy place and I have no issue with that at all. Far sooner that than for your meal to arrive 5 minutes after you order it and be in no doubt that every minute we waited was well worth it for the meal presented to us. The cost was I believe £32 a head and I have paid a lot more in the past for an awful lot less. The bar has been set high for next year and we will be returning. Thank you

Terrible!! Took an hour and a half for delivery on breakfast.. sausage was like cardboard..cheap quality.. the ‘scrambled’ egg was a boiled egg cut in to pieces. Very overpriced!! We WONT be returning.

The chicken roast was excellent and a good portion without being too big. The dessert was awful - pistachio cheesecake - horrible texture and no flavour. I couldn't eat it and told the waitress - I was still charged full price! It was not busy when we were there but service was very slow!

Popped in here at lunchtime to see if we could grab a table and we are so glad we did. 2 menus £7.95 lunch or 2 for £20 which is Monday to Saturday Lunchtime and Monday to Thursday evenings(photos uploaded) You can also choose from the main menu if you want a larger version but ours were fantastic value. I had the beef Lasagne very tasty and my friend the Roast beef both were excellent. We will be back! The house Merlot is great and a snip at just over £7 for a large glass. The Doombar was kept very well.

Went to lunch for my partner’s birthday (pre-notified as a special occasion). Main course of Turkey abysmal. Over cooked, vegetables boiled to death. Hake, which I had, dry, as if it had sat on a warming trolley for a long time. We enquired as to timing re main courses which had not appeared and this seemed to annoy them. No effort made re birthday at all. I ordered a brandy that appeared in an egg cup sized glass. Asked for a brandy glass and received a whisky tumbler instead. Not the biggest deal, but details matter. For the price it was, as the title says, disappointing as to food quality and service. We will not go again.

We were made welcome and the restaurant gave the impression of high standards, with nice features, well maintained decor and clean in appearance. Having made a visit on a recommendation, we were anticipating a reasonably enjoyable meal. The starters were enjoyable, the crispy prawns and soup of the day were delicious and served with warm bread and French butter. The pork belly was enjoyable and the presentation was very good. However the beer battered cod was a huge let down. It looked great, with crispy batter, and served with a huge portion of chips, but the fish had a weird heavy dense texture reminiscent of Spanish salted cod (it wasn't)- and was very disappointing. The chocolate brownie and the waffle dessert helped make up the disappointment.
