Can't recommend The Blue Ship enough! Can't beat the chef Simons' roast dinner. He uses locally sourced meat, the beef is always such good quality. You won't be hungry after this meal! Meat, 2 veg, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese sometimes and big fluffy Yorkshire puddings. Being a family run establishment, you couldn't ask for more, friendly, great service, Jacquie and Sophie run the bar and service. They are attentive, chatty and superb at their job. Can't wait to go back soon! Thank you all for an amazing day.

This is certainly not a run of the mill Italian restaurant. It is a real gem. I went for dinner with my wife on a busy Saturday evening. The food was fantastic, there were no corners cut in the ingredients used and the portions were not small. The owners clearly take pride in serving authentic Italian dishes. The staff were also attentive and well trained. It was a real pleasure to dine here and we will be back very soon.

The biggest and best value breakfast you'll ever get in Sussex! Worth travelling to as we did. We had one extra large full English and one vegan breakfast (with the best vegan sausages I've tasted). We've also been here for lunch and had huge, filled jacket potatoes. Whatever you order will last you all day! Just one negative, it was cold inside on a cold day, slightly too uncomfortable to stay for long.

What an incredible meal we had at Chalk! The service was excellent being both discrete and light hearted (the waiting staff looked after us exceptionally well) and both of the Chefs came out to introduce courses to us. It made the best of fine dining and the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant. And, of course, the food was excellent. We had the Estate Dinner menu, which is 5 courses of locally produced and sourced ingredients. It is delicious! Beautifully cooked food which tastes great. The Cauliflower Risotto was a triumph and the Venison main course was brilliant. And we had some of the fantastic Wiston sparkling wine with it. A great night out!

Nice cheese on toast (with the delicious Sussex Charmer cheese you can now also buy at some farm shops and small stores). Food seems to be served quite quickly but I do wish they'd do away with the, in my opinion weird, unhygienic and impersonal practice of making customers take a pager which then buzzes and vibrates when their order is ready. If I'm about to eat, I don't want to handle a pager that's been in the hands of goodness knows how many other people.

I had home made quiche which was very nice and a can of diet coke (no glass). Came to ÂŁ15.30. Not unfriendly as such but not warm and welcoming either. There are only big tables as you go in and I thought I was going to need to share a table. Wasnt sure whether to find a seat and order or if order at the counter. Anyway i ordered at the counter and then saw little seating area out the back so went there. They did ask if i was ok with dressing on my salad which was good too. Tho even better would be to serve in a little pot so people can decide how much theyâd like. Noone took my plate for ages so got up to go and order a piece of cake ( all looked lovely!) but as I got to the till the lady started totting it up on the till so I didnât bother. Yes i could have said but it just felt off so i went off the idea of having a piece of cake there! I go to alot of tea rooms on my travels with work and this was - sad to say - the least friendly. But food was very nice.

Wow is all I can say! We stopped in here today after visiting the country park. We only really chose here because it was close to the park. We were absolutely blown away by the Indian food, which was the tastiest Iâve ever had and I am quite the connoisseur of Indian food. What a gem! We will definitely be returning. I recommend the dosa. Delicious. Service was marvellous too.

What an amazing experience - stunning food in lovely surroundings with such a friendly team! Love the sustainability ethos and learning more about each ingredient, along with the merging of various styles to create some truly brilliant dishes. Loved having the chefs come out to introduce us to dishes, and giving their own stories about what the dishes mean to them. Overall service was out of this world - we were so well looked after!

Free entry to explore the marvellous gardens at Leonardslee when booking the Ultimate experience. A thorough wine tasting, brilliantly conducted by 'Simba', a true credit to his profession as a sommelier. Fabulous wines and that Sabre moment when the cork is 'popped', my friend did this with such distinction. An excellent, delicious Afternoon Tea followed, nothing waste much of a problem, photo opportunity, carrot cake a welcome extra but 'Simba' created the icing on the cake. Fantastic experience.

Every time I order the quality is always consistent. Particularly recommend the cookie doughs. Why go to a sloppy chain when you can support a fantastic independent!
