Thank you to Mark and Luci for making our week in Newchurch fabulous once again. Your food is simply wonderful, steak perfectly cooked to my taste, the salmon was that good I had it twice, all the food and drink well priced, we all had a great time. Your team and all the locals made us feel so welcome and we’ll definitely be back

As overners we can't eat here as often as we would like but always try to get to the Cocks when on the Island. In October we had some of our family with us and the Sunday roast meals were excellent and much enjoyed. Just two of us back recently and our meals were excellent. Fish pie for my wife and the sizzler for me, really good. We made sure by booking and while we were there sadly some unbooked people were unable to get in so we do recommend booking to ensure you can get in.. Staff are friendly and efficient. Back soon and thanks to all at the Fighting Cocks.

Went for breakfast for my 22nd birthday with my mother. I cannot praise the staff enough for their service and the most amazing breakfast that we were served . The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating! At the end of the meal I was given a slice of cake on the house to take home and enjoy which was absolutely divine ! Will be back very soon and cannot recommend them enough.

OMG what a difference. A very poor Christmas meal, not at all up to the usual standard. 1 small thin slice of turkey, 2 burnt roast potatoes and all not hot. Sent it back and extra turkey added plus potatoes replaced, but still only average. Needs to get back to previous standard.

Haven’t been here for probably 7 years as we moved into Bristol! I wished we’d stayed so we could come here more often. Excellent food and great value too! Staff were super friendly and a good laugh! A must for locals, passerby’s and cyclists! Will be back soon!

Always have a great meal from here but decided to have a roast this time. Roast Beef slices were fatty/chewy and cut way too thick, my knife couldn’t even cut through it. Vegetables were definitely frozen and bland, some strange reason there were courgettes and mange tout included? Never heard of that on a roast. Only part I did enjoy were the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Couldn’t believe it cost £16.95 definitely not worth the price. Think I’ll just stick to the burgers as I know they’re delicious.

This is a great 'out of the way' place to stop and have a quick bite to eat or drink, the cafe is set in the grounds of the abbey and there is seating inside and out. A lovely location on any day. There is a small menu of food available. Plus homemade cakes and hot drinks

We visited the White Lion for lunch on a Sunday. Sadly, the carvery wasn't available as it was straight after Christmas. However, we were still able to get a plated roast dinner with veg served separately in dishes. The meat was both beautifully cooked and plentiful. Definitely no short portions. All the veg were cooked to perfection except the broccoli, which was still quite hard for all of us. The cauliflower cheese was perfect and to die for. The sticky toffee pudding was one of the best i have had in a very long time. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the staff were attentive but not intrusive.

We happened across this pub whilst driving around the island. Couldn't have been better if they'd have tried. From the moment we stepped out of the car we were greeted with to the white peacocks that reside near to tge pub and are being fed by the pub team. The food was amazing. The Husband went for the mushroom and ale pie. Literally wished I'd ordered it, however my beyond meat burger was excellent right down to the crispy lettuce and tasty tomato. I hate vegan cheese so asked for it to be swapped for normal cheese and I wanted the sauce on the side...nothing was too much trouble. We asked for a taster of IPA as I'm a fussy sausage and again this was accommodated with a smile and very quickly..we didn't like it but found something else. Food arrived in a timely manner and really was splendid. The whole afternoon was relaxing and the staff were excellent. The only thing I would say is that the ladies bathroom would benefit from a lick of paint to tidy it up but everything smelt lovely. I would happily go back, eat and marvel at the peacocks. Thanks so much for a lovely visit.
