Supposedly, a birthday treat for my wife. No such luck. The greasiest and most undercooked chips I have ever had over my many decades of chippies throughout the British Isles. None were remotely crispy. I couldn't eat them, but my wife was quite hungry, though not impressed. The onion rings were so greasy, we had to place them onto kitchen towel and attempt to pat them dry, to no avail. The mushy peas were average, at best. The battered cod and haddock were definately on the small side and the batter VERY soggy, which is a shame as the crispy parts (about 40%) were good. All this on a Friday night, and cooked to order too :(

Great pub. Great food, beers, wines and staff. The staff have been terrific from the first day I called to book. The Sunday roast was one of the best pub roasts we’ve had in a long while. Great ambience in the pub and a good beer and wine selection. Our party of four loved it so thank you and a Merry Christmas to all!

We have been visiting the New Forest for Years and usually stop off at the Tea Rooms before heading to our Hotel / or Cottage . The Food is always great, particularly the Dorset Apple Cake , fresh and fruity. This time we also enjoyed the Toasties , good ingredients and nicely presented. The Staff were lovely and super friendly , we always look forward to our visit. Maybe time for a slight refurb of the room -just to freshen it up, but a good value experience

After passing this place numerous times over the years, I had the opportunity to visit today, I had a milkshake and pancakes with peanut butter and banana, absolutely delicious, I was the only diner and unfortunately today was their last day of trading, I'm so glad I finally got a visit in, such a shame it's closing tbh, very good food/service at a reasonable price

Not overly happy with my experience to say the least. We booked a room for one night for 31st December, get away and celebrate New Years. On the day of the booking we travelled over two hours to the New Forest, exploring, visiting some stunning locations, a spot of lunch only to receive a phone call at 3pm (an hour before check in at 4pm) to say that they can no longer accommodate our booking and do not have a room for us. No explanation was given as to why this had happened and no real apology was given. The place seemed to instantly wash their hands of us and when asked about payment and refunds it was palmed off to Booking.com. Of course everywhere else in the vicinity was fully booked or extremely expensive so it was game over. Happy New Year.

Truly awful - and no suitable toilets. The food we were served was below average, the coffees were unfortunately not good at all. The service from the woman running the cafe was disgraceful. She seemed off from the outset, and was downright rude in the end after one of our group was reduced to tears by her behaviour. Most importantly the toilet was not suitable for visitors to use, you have to squeeze through the kitchen which is open to the seating area to get to the toilet, which is extremely close to where food is being prepared and completely inaccessible for anyone with mobility issues. The toilet door did not shut, so the woman who runs the cafe had to slam shut another door in order for there to be any privacy (and any level of hygiene), which then resulted in one of our party being trapped inside the toilet unable to get out. When another member of our party was eventually able to force the door open from the outside and the person who was trapped was understandably shaken at the experience, the women running the cafe had the nerve to tell her to calm down, and then denied having said anything at all. All in all it was a horrendous experience, no redeeming features - this unfortunate situation could have been helped with a kind manner but instead was made much worse. Avoid. We will be making a formal complaint to the food standards agency. A bizarre and upsetting experience!
