Visited with friends a few times now. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the food is amazing. There are lots of great choices, but I personally recommend the quiche, which is made on site and comes with new potatoes and salad (complete with homemade coleslaw). They have a good range of homemade cakes and scones on offer too (including gluten free options - ideal for my particular group of friends due to intolences) Their cream teas, in particular, are very generous and beautifully presented. My friend particularly enjoys the tea there, which is served in proper tea pots and loose leaf. I'm more of a coffee drinker and always enjoyed the coffee here.

One of the best meals I've had in a very long time. All food was lovely and generous portions, the starters (cheese souffle and salt and pepper squid) were exceptional, and the tiramisu was the best I have ever had!! Friendly, efficient service and lovely relaxed setting with fab decor. Already looking at when we can come again! Thank you so much.

We visited for my husband’s birthday on a Friday lunchtime, it is a lovely cosy pub with a nice atmosphere right on the quayside all of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. There is JustPark parking outside which was £2 for 2 hours. We used a Groupon voucher which is exceptional value for money and the food quality was not lowered in any way. We bought the 2 course sirloin steak meal with wine for 2 Groupon offer which had an extra discount on it to come out at just £37.49 in total for the 2 of us. You are actually allowed to choose ANYTHING from the menu not just what is on the voucher itself. When you consider that a single sirloin steak meal on its own is £31 on their menu you can see how it is incredible value and well worth the trip to visit. We had a lovely steak meal, flavoursome and perfectly cooked, we swapped out our wine for a cider and a soft drink, then choose Dorset apple cake which was delicious. Photos show our meal (although for clarity that is a double portion of mushrooms as I can’t stand them)

OMG !! This is the centre of the great tasting foods of your deepest desires !!! We popped in here on Monday and fortunately have been back every day since !! The beef teriyaki is just wow, the pulled pork just delicious, but for us the show stopped is the Cottage Pie. Now before anyone turns off at this point, imagine your homemade attempt, where you stand back and pat yourself on the back….then try theirs !!! Worlds apart !! The flavour and mix is worth travelling just to try it ! Never tasted one this good ever and my Nan was a cook !! She would have been trying to get the recipe by any means possible. The staff and service is excellent and the veg and butchers is awesome. We will be back !! AND they do takeout !!! It gets better

I was part of a very large pre booked running group- we were all very hungry upon arrival! We were catered for superbly with a number of delicious breakfasts, coffees and drinks brought to us promptly. The food looked and tasted lovely; the atmosphere perfect for a Christmas social and then there were the cakes! Wow! Despite feeling full, a number of us bought the delicious cake on offer which was kindly packaged up in a take-away box for later by the staff- a wonderful morning had by all.

The building itself is an excellent venue in a great location on the quay at Wareham. This was our first visit to have an evening meal at the Old Granary, and was much anticipated because I fully expected to have a great meal here. I hoped it would be at least as good as the meal we had at the Italian Kitchen in Wareham 2 weeks previously. However, we were very disappointed about many aspects, and especially the quality of food. The first issue was that my wife and I were offered different menus. Although it didnt have a heading to say it was anything other than the standard menu, it turned out I had been given the Gluten Free menu whilst my wife had the correct one. I was struggling to find a sutable main course until my wife showed me her menu. The Starter we both chose was the Mushroom Soup, which was surprisingly dark in colour, but worst of all tasted very greasy. This unpleasant flavour was apparently caused by the chef adding 'finishing oil' into the soup. Well yes, it did finish off the quality of flavour, and also wasnt helped by the fact that the bread provided was fairly stale with a very 'heavy' consistency. I gave this feedback at the time but the waiting staff just said they would tell the chef. I heard nothing more and so we just finished the soup, whilst leaving the bread. My wife later noted that another table actually sent their soup back to the kitchen, and so maybe we should have done too!! Our main course then arrived, along with the bottle of white wine which was just plonked on the table with no thought to even take the top off let alone offer to taste/pour. No refinements in serving at this restaurant it seems. Having chosen Pan Seared Hake with Samphire, Tenderstem Brocolli, and smashed new potatoes, I was hoping for an improvement on the starter. I was again disappointed though, because my fish was overdone and quite dry. I presume the skin side was grilled to create a crispy skin which was fine, but the other side was then Pan Fried to such an extent that the surface was browned off and almost solid. This meant the rest of the fish was fairly dry in texture. The Tenderstem Brocolli though was Al Dente to the extreme which meant my knife needed a lot of effort to cut through it and was very firm when I chewed on it. The rest of the veg and sauce was satisfactory but nothing more. Again I gave this feedback to the waiting staff who again said they would tell the chef. Again I heard nothing more, so we decided not to risk ordering a desert as we had originally intended. When paying the bill at the desk, I was again asked if everything was ok, and so I repeated my previous feedback and was again assured she would tell the chef, but no thought to offer any kind of a discount!!! I would point out that my wifes main course was of better quality. It was only because of that, and because I really didnt want to spoil our evening out on New Years Eve, that I didnt send my food back, or make a greater issue of things at the time. NB: The live music which had just started when we finished our meal also sounded quite poor quality too and so for all these reasons we decided to finish our evening at the Quay Inn instead which had excellent entertainment booked that night. We dont intend to return to this establishment at any time in the future. There are a number of great eating venus in Wareham and so thats where I'll spend my money it future!!
