The best restaurants serving British food in South Somerset South West

Wonderful meal what a gastonomic feast. Highly recommend. Only negative was the bar man after the meal was more interested in his admin than serving out the meal so we could get home.

We visited the Wyndham arms on opening time Saturday afternoon.. a few locals in there who were very friendly.. Anna the bar maid was super nice and gave us the history of this pub and surrounding area. This definitely had the vibe of the Square and Compass in worth matravers. No pretention just a lovely atmosphere and amazing ciders and ales… As we only live about 4 miles away we decided to come back on a Sunday afternoon and it was just the same.. we are looking forward to trying their curry and disco nights that they’ve had in the past… This could easily be one of our new regular spots to visit in south Somerset. Keep it up.. what you are doing there it is working.

Stopped here on our way back to London back in June 2018 , not quite sure of what to expect, a very well thought, nice looking, quiet place. I am quite skeptic when it comes to food We have ordered and then they hit us... unbelievable how in such a small town you can find such amazing food. Also a big big thank you to Welsh Steve for the best surprise of our trip! Very kind! For some reason I found this review in my draft list, I hope it will still be accepted and posted.

Absolutely the best Sunday lunch for miles. The roast beef just melts on your mouth. The desserts are fabulous. A proper country pub serving incredible food. The themed evenings are not to be missed either.

I went with a friend to Sharon’s evening opening for a bite to eat and I’ve got to say we were both blown away, as the food was extremely good and generous. Better still in a country where nearly all restaurants seem to have put their prices up to ridiculous levels, Sharon’s makes hers very reasonable indeed, with exceptional quality. Just loved it.

This is my FAVOURITE cafe to go to. The food is exceptional, the service is absolutely brilliant and the prices are perfect. The seating is also comfortable. This is a great place to stop for a coffee and a cake or even some lunch

Absolutely fab. I made a special journey for a chocolate millionaire shortbroad. Just yummy.

We arrived a bit before opening at lunch, but we were warmly welcomed. Intended having coffee to warm up after a walk but ended up staying for lunch - delicious! Very friendly owners, warm atmosphere, plenty of parking

Food was great, all very very nice. I had the seafood platter as did my husband and everything from the starter to the cheeseboard was great. Fantastic view out the back of the fields, wonderful on a warm summer evening.

Always a great experience to dine here. Simple food made to taste extraordinary. Food intolerances ably catered for. A real treat.

Great value pint in a lovely listed building - I suspect is full of history

Great little pub, tones of character from the decorations to the people enjoying their selfs there. Stopped for a sandwich and toilet break which they were able to pack us the sandwiches on the go.

Delicious lunch with friends. Seven of us had an absolutely superb Saturday lunch. The pub was busy and vibrant. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food came out in good time, and was really delicious— we were all very happy with our meals. I would highly recommend The Red Lion.
