We were just looking in the fabric shop and saw the sign for the cafe and as it was 13.30hrs we were told it may close soon so we decided to pop in for a snack. Made very welcome on our arrival and there was a reasonable selection of foods for a small cafe .the food was well presented and tasted just as good. Seems to be very popular with the locals and it was enjoyable to meet and talk with them

Amazing breakfast freshly cooked until 12 everyday, good selection of teas and coffee. I’ve also had the pizza made to order. A selection of cakes to choose from, with a selection of ice creams too. Lovely in the summertime as they have a few benches outside too

Went for lunch on 7th Feb. Amy was our server, she is really friendly and helpful when making a choice from the menu. She’s a definite asset to the restaurant. Both the food and service were good, the only downside is that unless the customer has someone to share with from the lunchtime menu(2 for £11.99 but there was 3 people) then you have to order something from the main menu which at least that price for 1 meal.

Stopped for a quick snack, lovely place, clean and very friendly. Had a lovely well filled sausage and egg breadcake, with a cup of tea, can sit in or out. Unfortunately its take way only at the moment but either way highly recommended

My husband and I came to the post office on a friend's recommendation and we certainly weren't disappointed. The atmosphere the staff and the food were outstanding. We didn't expect it to be too busy as the weather is awful at the moment. But it was quite busy but not too overwhelming. The fire was roaring which was lovely when we first entered and greeted by a lovely happy lady. We were taken to our seats and swiftly served with our drinks and food order taken. The food was out of this world. My husband had the meatball starter, beef brisket and cheesecake. I had choose your own steak 8oz fillet steak and the raspberry bakewell. Everything was cooked to perfection especially my steak. It was the best steak I have ever eaten. (Medium rare more on the rare side but beautiful). The lady that severed us couldn't do enough and was extremely polite and courteous. We can't wait to come back for another meal with the family next time. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

Me and my 3 sisters came here today for lunch and to get together for my birthday. Had a lovely lunch as always 😋 been going to Cannon Hall for quite a few years now and got to know the staff. Vicky who is the manager who's so lovely saw my cards and told her it's my birthday tomorrow. As we was nearly ready for leaving Vicky and staff came over with a piece of cake with a candle in and sang happy birthday SUSAN. I was so overwhelmed 😭 thank you so much Vicky and staff for a beautiful day. And not forgetting my beautiful sister's aswell. Much love to you all xxxxxxx ❤️

We came in October for my mum in laws birthday and the food , service was faultless. So on leaving we booked for Boxing Day for 4 adults, also paying £40 deposit. On arrival we were shown to our table which must be the worst table in the restaurant straight opposite the bar. I presume the head waitress came to take our food order, which we didn’t think much of either starters or mains. So 2 of us didn’t bother!! Then I explained iwas a vegetarian, only 1 choice and unfortunately ant eat pastry so opted for a meat free Xmas dinner. The lady ( head waitress) made no comment or suggest anything else and to be quite honest she came across to all of us as been rude. The 2 other young girls were absolutely lovely that served us. After ordering our food a family came in and sat directly at the back of us and we quite clearly heard her say that there was also a prawn cocktail and something else available as a starter?? Can you tell me why we wasn’t given this option, because my Mum and husband would have chose this. When main course arrived the gravy ran off my husbands plate because there was so much on and the table is out of level. We then waited another 5 minutes for the veg , I did ask for more veg as that’s all I was having, it came in a dish with 6 sprouts and 5 carrot batons and cabbage on top. This was supposed to be feeding 3 of us. It wasn’t very hot either. Yes we should have said something there but didn’t want to cause a stir. Mum had jam roly poly and later told me it was hard the suet pastry. We were really disappointed with the food but more over the head waitresses attitude to us,certainly didn’t make us feel welcome. Maybe we aren’t regular customers but we only live in the next village but we will not be visiting the Talbot again One last thing when getting our bill the £40 deposit hadn’t been deducted??

I attended a festive dinner dance, with a group of friends, looking for a good catch up and some fun and food. It was a 3 course meal and disco. None of us were really impressed with the starters, I had prawn cocktail, (too heavy on the iceberg lettuce and tasteless)and my husband’s spring roll was luke warm, similar grumbles all round. However, all the main meals were delicious, as were desserts. The service was friendly and efficient and the restaurant was festive and fun. My only real gripe was the music, which was so loud throughout the meal, that we couldn’t catch up. I like background music, but this was way too loud, unnecessarily so and it spoilt the evening for all of us.
