The best restaurants serving British food in Torne Valley Doncaster Yorkshire and The Humber

Just had a wonderful ploughman's lunch at this amazing place for me and the wife ,the other food is exerlant as well staff great and helpfull would highly recommend the classic cafe

The food was outstanding, with the meat so tender it practically melted. I've never had pork that delicious before. The portion sizes were fantastic, and everyone at the table remarked on how incredible their meals were. The Christmas decorations added a beautiful touch to the atmosphere. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Disappointed, Will not be returning. We have not been here for over a year due to my husband’s cancer diagnosis. Most definitely has gone down hill. When we arrived my husband was looking on the menu for a child’s size breakfast or very small portion as he’s had half his stomach removed due to cancer. He carry’s a medical card to explain about his portion sizes. There was no smaller portion or child’s menu. He had to order an early bird breakfast even though half he would not eat . We showed a very rude member of staff on the till ( with no name badge ) his medical card and asked if the fried egg could be changed for scrambled egg . She informed us that this would be an extra charge of £1.25 my husband obviously then became upset saying you want to charge me more for a different type of egg and I’m only gonna eat half of it due to the small amount i can eat. Again showing her the medical card . She walked into the back of the kitchen and then came back and said yes you have to pay it do you want it or not. We will definitely not be returning and this will be shared elsewhere and on group cancer forums that have also had this procedure done to remove cancer. Also i will add we waited 10min for our coffees and when returning to our table the food was already there getting cold . Shocking, avoid this cafe . There are plenty more with excellent staff and management and do not discriminate again people with complex medical issues.

Food was really great and the guys couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome. We took the dog who got water and we took my 89yo mum whose food needs they immediately found a solution for. Thank you, we will be back

Used to go a lot. Standards gone dramatically downhill last couple of years. Decided to give it one last try. Asked for a pot of tea for two whilst we decided on food. The smallest pot of tea arrived. (Both teapot and milk jug were chipped.) couple sat next to us had a pot of tea twice the size, they said they also asked for tea for 2. Ouside seating looks cheap, and table very small, not what you’d expect for the prices your paying. Decided to give food a miss and went elsewhere instead.

Not the place it used to be. Gone dirty and the gents toilet was disgusting as it looked like it hadn't been properly and hygienically bathroom cleaned for weeks. Service was slow and staff run off their feet because there wasn't enough of them. The once glorious soughdough bread has gone and there are no tea cakes (at Easter!!!). Such a shame as I used to enjoy going here....but not anymore. For the prices you pay, it is poor value for money. The owners have run the place down and should be ashamed. It used to be great
