Stanley’s is a wonderful cafe on the St. James Retail Park in Knaresborough. The food is exceptional , in fact it’s restaurant quality produce at cafe prices. The cakes and scones are all homemade and absolutely delicious. The staff are friendly, efficient and attentive. Be prepared to queue as it’s a busy cafe , but worth the wait. Free parking is a bonus. My only complaint is ~ I wish you were in Wetherby.

Gorgeous fish and chips, was nearly put off by some of the reviews but visited as looked and smelt good and we was not disappointed. Food was very fresh, fish was big and crispy, child’s meals were great value for money and fish and chips wasn’t much smaller than the standard portion so really good value. Don’t be put off by bad reviews as we had a lovely meal with no complaints.

We had family visiting and thought it would be good to take them to Knaresborough for breakfast by the river. Our group of 7 has a nice cozy corner and our server was lovely. Sadly our eggs were supposed to be sunny side up but the bottoms of them were brown and crisp. I asked for another 2 eggs but they came out the same way. I was informed that they have to cook them that way for hygiene purposes but if that was they case they would not be able to serve runny yokes. A friend suggested I ask for poached instead but I was told I would have to pay for them since that would be 6 eggs even though I was unable to eat the first 2 sets served to me, I asked to leave it and I would know next time not to order fried eggs. My husband had eggs benedict that said gammon but he was given a slice of cold ham, the sauce was cold as well. On leaving a lady approached me saying she’d heard there had been an issue which I explained. The out come of this conversation was less than satisfying. Our group said after that we would just go somewhere else. I hope others have a better experience than we did.

VERY rude service by old white-haired man. Told us where to sit in a more or less empty room, when I went to sit at a different empty table he barked "I've not wiped that table, that's why I told you to sit there!!" ...... not used to being spoken to like a dog! (The table was completely clear and not dirty!). Shameful, someone needs better customer service training, nasty old man! The young girl that was on service with him, however, was more than polite and the food was tasty. Such a shame this senile grinch ruined the experience!

Stumbled on this little eatery while visiting Knaresborough on a Sunday lunch time. We went in to get maybe a sandwich and thought it wasn’t going to be great to be honest but ended up having a cooked lunch and it was so good! The place was busy and you could tell they were locals as they were chatting across to each other. We looked at the menu and decided to have have a cooked meal. I ordered pie chips and peas and my husband a burger with chips salad and coleslaw and a pot of tea. You could actually get a 3 course Sunday lunch for £14.50! When mine came there were no peas but another bowl soon arrived full of fresh vegetables and a big jug of gravy. Food was really good the staff were lovely. The lady said that as she had been cooking Sunday lunches she gave me some of the veg. We were thoroughly impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. Great food and great value for money! Definitely worth trying!

Enjoyed our first Sunday lunch for husbands birthday today, the best we have ever tasted and enjoyed, highly recommend, superbly presented with the most delicious flavours and very plentiful too. Wonderful service too. Sitting by the fire in Harry's (dog friendly) bar is such a delight too. Such a decadent place.

This place has changed its name now and I can’t remember what it’s called. I went in for a sandwich which was lovely but the place…. Oh goodness! It really needs a rethink. It’s tiny and full of heavy tables and bulky old furniture that makes it really difficult to get around. It’s not shabby chic unfortunately, it’s missing the chic!! Outside looks ok but the new owners need to have a rethink of the interior. Also, when people leave it’s a good idea to clean the tables! Its not inviting to come in and see that tables haven’t been cleaned and there’s no excuse when the place is so quiet.
