The best restaurants serving British food in Axholme Central North Lincolnshire Yorkshire and The Humber

Queríamos darnos un capricho, pero siendo yo vegano y mi esposa vegetariana, encontrar un restaurante que nos atienda a los raros suele ser un desafío. La buena noticia es que el Epworth Tap fue capaz de acomodarnos perfectamente con una deliciosa comida de tres platos. Steve y Sarah eran anfitriones perfectos y si quieres tomar un delicioso vino, lo simple es seguir los consejos de Steve!

What a lovely place . First time visiting today for coffee and cake and I am so glad I did. I will definitely be back. The staff and service were excellent, I didn’t realise you couldn’t pay on card but wasn’t a problem they were happy for me to go and get some cash from the post office, I felt really bad , thanks again 😊

Could not fault it, really enjoyed my three courses. Very imaginative main course vegetarian, some places just give a main consisting of a few different vegetables but here I had at least ten or more on my plate, presented extremely well on the plate. Will be visiting again.

I have eaten at the Red Lion several times before, for Sunday lunch and for an evening meal. This year the quality has greatly deteriorated and when I took three people there for a thank you meal it was absolutely deplorable. I could not believe the plates of food which were served to us. On each plate was the roast meat, roast potatoes but half of each was burnt BLACK, Yorkshire pudding which was also burnt BLACK and mash potatoes. I had roast turkey which was very good, one person had roast beef which again was good the two other people had suppose roast ham which looked like rashers of bacon. We were served a dish of vegetables which consisted of carrots,peas,broccoli and red cabbage. They were all tasteless, the broccoli wasn’t cooked and the red cabbage was a poorly looking pink colour. So out of the whole meal the only things that were acceptable were the turkey, beef and mash potatoes. I told the waitress that the potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were burnt and also told the girl who took my payment at the bar that I was very disappointed with the food and why. She said she would tell the chef to which I pointed out that the chef already knows because he sent the Black burnt food out. Because this meal was my treat I felt very upset and disappointed but didn’t want to cause any embarrassment to my guests by making a fuss. It cost me £54.00 for the food which was definitely not up to anyone’s expectations. So sad because I used to really liked going to the red lion.

Great place!, the best chateaubriand we have ever had!, (£75.00 as of 01/01/2025)it was so soft and cooked to perfection, the sides were amazing and the peppercorn sauce was delicious, the staff are friendly and helpful, well worth a visit!,
