He left my car at Stoneacre just up on Canklow Road and needed somewhere to go for some lunch whilst I waited. This was the perfect place! Just a five min walk away. I chose a chicken panini and a cuppa. Lovely friendly girls in there. (Think they may have been family?) Anyway it was the end of the day for them (closing at 2pm) and so were clearing up but I didn’t feel in the way or anything. Spot on little spot. Would recommend!

I go here several times a week. Since it started, it has become a key spot in the community, The location is central to the village. The reception, staff and atmosphere are relaxed and welcoming. The food is excellent quality and good value for money. Ranges from a good English breakfast, range of lunches, celebration afternoon teas, good coffee, cocktails, beers, wines and spirits. Eat inside, at a table in front or in expansive covered area at the back. Space for parties.

Just bought a steak pie today, absolutely delicious, it was a deep filled pie crammed full of tender steak, will definitely buy another definitely recommend Also bought their home made potted beef which I’ve bought lots of times and again would recommend this, you can certainly tell the difference from shop bought, Kate’s kitchen 10 out of 10 and includes a variety of sandwiches always tasty

After standing outside in the cold, I spent over £30 on food without salt and vinegar even through I asked for it. Chips that was still hard. Tasteless and couldn't eat them. Don't be returning. Fish batter is not fluffy at all.

We come to Mill Dam quite a lot for meals and the food is always lovely. Only criticism I have is that the chef doesn't always follow what's listed on the menu, I always order ribs, sometimes they come with fries, other time with chunky chips, with or without onion rings so I didn't need to order extra, salad or no coleslaw. So I think I need to specify what I want on the plate rather than rely on what the menu says. We tried Sunday lunch this week, loads better than the carvery, very tasty but not much choice vegetable wise (brocoli, peas & green beans) and have to pay extra for cauliflower cheese as well as £18 for 3 meats, I don't feel the 3 meats was worth that price but we enjoyed it and will continue to come often

Went there the other night with the family and had the set Christmas Dinner the starter was fine but the main course was poor the sprouts and beans were both under cooked and hard. A couple of us had the apple pie for sweet again the apples were hard and under cooked..Very disappointing.
