The best restaurants serving British food in England

Lovely experience altogether. The staff were very attentive, the food was excellent, and everywhere was clean and looking well. The place was a little quiet so lacked a bit of atmosphere, but that was due to the time of our visit so you can't blame the venue for that. Will be returning in the near future.

The perfect family friendly pub, with separate play area for the children to play in which they loved (aged 4 & 5), the staff were friendly, very helpful and made my daughters 16th birthday meal extra special. In our party there was 6 adults and 2 children - great grandad loved his fish and chips and his great grandson loved his children's sized steak. I thought that there was a good range of meals available which were all reasonable priced. The kids meal deal was a lot cheaper than other pubs I've been to, portions were spot on for them catering for every taste. What made the evening even more special - the staff brought birthday cake out all singing happy birthday to the birthday girl, she was even given a free birthday mocktail which made her feel very grown up! We have been a few times to the pub and haven't had any complaints with the food or service for a Saturday night it was quite empty but it had a really nice personal atmosphere. Will definitely be going back again

I had our 25years wedding anniversary on 16th Aug, at the orestone hotel. Fab service excellent food, nothing to much trouble. 5 star review.

Great local fresh food cooked to perfection at a reasonable price. We loved the place the food and had great service would recommend and we will go back.

My husband and I have always fancied trying this place, so I booked it as a surprise for his birthday. We came up (from the Midlands) with our two teenage children (15 and 17) and our two dogs. My husband and I stayed in the garden room, which is perfect for people with dogs, and the kids stayed in a mountain view room. From arrival to departure, we were made to feel so welcome. It was the smallest details like fresh milk for in your room, bath oils for your bath and a jar of dog treats and blankets for the dogs, that made it for me, not to mention the delicious evening meal and breakfast! The 7 course taster menu was absolutely delicious, I enjoyed every mouth watering mouthful. This was our children’s first experience of a taster menu and they loved it! The service was superb, with every single staff member being very knowledgable and helpful. They all worked really well as a team too. The breakfast the next morning was excellent, I’ve never tasted toast like it! Thank you for an excellent stay, we will definitely be back!

Don't waste your money bad service cold and small portions and you wait a long to for the food aswell which comes out in the wrong order

We just stayed at The Chestnuts Country House and all the reviews are so true. The setting is beautiful, the room is stunning, with everything you need and more for us and our dog. We were even able to charge our car over night. The breakfast is superb, truly remarkable. Thank you so much Kelly and David we can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!

We went randomly with friends and the football was on. It was very busy but still felt safe and the staff were quick and efficient. The atmosphere was great, everyone was friendly and the outside area was clean and accessible.

Lovely hotel and spa with great views and easy walking distance to centre of Grasmere and surrounding area. The food is very good but expensive for dinner if on a budget. Free use of the Spa was a good touch, especially after a day of hill walking. Would definitely stay again.

great atmosphere but their food timetable is not correct online. they only serve food at specific days and times. sorry for the one star, but best of luck and please reflect on what you are open and what services you actually offer. The staff is nice, They have a pool table. No parking available, you have to park in a public car park and walk to it.
