A belated review. Me and my partner have been regular diners at The Venus for over 30 years. I have not wrote a review before now because the restaurant is always excellent, lunchtime, evenings or private functions. The food, setting, staff is first class. We have been today (12 December) for a Xmas lunch, 3 beautiful courses, wonderful service and incredible value.

It’s a good idea, and I enjoyed my meal, but it’s not really what I was looking for.. the chips were much more like pub chips than chip shop chips.. I’ve had chips from chip shops all over the UK, dozens and dozens of them, No Catch was the only one to serve this style of chips… which tbh I’m not into. What I want, and what I think most people want, from No Catch is the authentic fish and chip shop experience.. just without the suffering. They haven’t quite achieved this and tbh it makes me not want to go back as it just doesn’t hit that spot. I had the battered sausage with mine, pretty sure these are the Richmond no meat sausages, however I have no issue with that as they are very taste, shame they’re not the classic length but it can be forgiven. The sausage did hit the spot, would be curious to try the ‘fish’.. But please, revise your chips!

My first visit to The Dove and I was not disappointed! I love how it has been decorated and there is a great atmosphere. The service is outstanding! My unique dietary needs were catered for and I am so grateful! The food is fantastic and you can tell they put a lot of care into what they do. I would definitely eat there again!
