Visited here on Saturday morning for some coffee and cakes. What a fantastic place. Customer service from the ladies was first class. Polite, professional and so courteous. A real community feel about the place. Scones were delicious! Highly recommend! Well done!

Food choice limited and unwilling to change the menu in any way. Beans on toast is only served until 1100hrs, but you can still have beans with a jacket potato and a toasted sandwich at lunch, but not beans on toast. We tried 2 cakes (rolo slice and rocky road) - both were awful, full of sugar, soft when they should have been hard and did not taste good at all, they were left on the plate. Very expensive for an underwhelming lunch. The park attached to it is very poorly maintained and very disappointing. THere are hardly any animals to see and the play equipment has not been changed, fixed or upgraded in years by the looks of things. I had been a few years back and it was great, but it has not aged well at all.

My wife and I celebrated our silver wedding in the summer and a friend bought us a gift card with lunch for 2. The excellent parts: The scenery, the drive along the loch side, the location - simply gorgeous looking out of the window whilst eating. The service. Highly relaxed and informal. Lunch was 2 hours. The Italian waiter was friendly and professional. The food was exquisite. Home baked bread with nasturtium seeded salt in the butter. I had duck, my wife had mackerel to start. Mains were pork for my wife and monkfish for me. Desert was a lick the plate clean chocolate cremeux for me and cheeses for her. The not so excellent parts; Nothing. At all. Fine dining of this quality with cookery skills like this and these flavours to luxuriate in, in this gorgeous setting… for £35 each??? I’ve paid double that in Edinburgh.

Had a late lunch at the cafe last week prior to a couple of hours in Campbletown and returning for an overnight at The House which is part of the same business. Super nice people made us welcome and the food (lunch and breakfast next morning) was delicious. Very clean cafe and stores and I'll say again the very nicest of staff. Would return and recommend without hesitation. This is how a business should be run and why it apprears to be so successful. An all round good experience.

Never have we been to a hotel with such friendly welcoming staff. Everyone we met showed us the greatest hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on both nights of our stay and enjoyed the food and again the friendly attitude of the staff. Breakfast was varied with a choice of hot dishes including Arbroath smokies. Our room was spacious and warm with a view over the green. We will certainly return if we visit Montrose again. The birdwatching was good too!

Disappointed! Waited 40mins for food to be served..Opted for Sunday roast.. nice food not worth £16! No vegetables only roast veg!!Yorkshire pudding over done. First visit for friends felt embarrassed. They opted for burgers. Have visited many times before not usual standard!

Terrible, don't go unless you don't mind it being dirty and leaving smelling like a chip pan. The picnic table, bench, floor, skirting boards were filthy and there was a blue haze around open plan kitchen. Extractor fans were not in use, we left reeking of fat. Our meals were terrible and the server looked like she'd just walked in off the streets, leggings in socks, trainers and a black hoody. When it originally opened,2020, it had so much promise.

I stumbled in here on day 4 of my West Highland Way walk nursing an injury and it couldn’t have been more fantastic. Had a much needed breakfast and coffee, and a really good chat with the girl at the bar (can’t believe I didn’t catch her name as we spoke for ages). Was really lovely and welcoming - can be isolating doing a long distance hike at a quiet time of the year, so this was really welcome. She gave me great advice both in terms of pushing on with the hike but also transport links if I couldn’t manage it. Could not recommend enough - I will definitely be staying here in the Spring when I try the WHW again - hopefully this time with a less dodgy knee!

Was advised by guests at another hotel that Powfoulis Manor did excellent food so we called in on spec. We had a freshly cooked 4 course meal at £35 each, generous portions and very tasty. The restaurant was immaculately clean and staff attentive. Will return.
