The lunch we had at Cradle was nearly sublime. Reassuringly one choice only re starter and main. The Carrot & Apple soup was rich and deeply good; the accompanying bread and pickled salad a wonderful treat. Then later, as utterly made to order, the main. So many ingredients harmonising and nourishing …Franky, best lunch in memory

Bacon sandwich with all the trimmings - washed down with a pot of tea. Just the job. Comfortable surroundings, on street parking right outside.

Went for breakfast this morning with a friend. Could not fault it 10/10. Sausage was amazing, lovely bacon and eggs cooked to perfection. People working there genuinely interested in how our experience was. Will definitely return

I had asked Shaun the landlord if he would be able to provide a BBQ and buffet for some of my family members so we could get together and celebrate the birth of my ninth grandchild who arrived on fathers day. Shaun, his sister Sophie and brother Ross were all instrumental in ensuring this event was a plesant experience and I must not forget the bar staff who coped extremely well despite the wrath of a prior event. A wonderful spread of food awaited us, this was not just what i had hoped for, this was much more than that with food spare. I could not have dreamed of such a banquet, fit for meat eaters, vegetarian, vegan and celiac alike, all explained so there was no cross contamination for anyone and special items were cooked on order. The spread was so good and in such abundance that I invited many more people from the pub to partake of the food and not skimp on the portions they gave themselves. Everyone was grateful and full, happy and had a wonderful time celebrating the new arrival and time spent together, obviously the children enjoying themselves in the large enclosed garden area was the main attraction and like the food didn't disappoint at all. THANK YOU SHAUN AND ALL AT THE ROSE AND CROWN .

I love this little cafe so much! The staff are friendly and the food is spot on. Whether you're vegan or not, you'll discover this is a special place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and a piece of delicious cake. Couple this with the amazing ceramics that are made by the owners and you'll wonder why you've never visited it before. A rare find.

Revolting food. Manager’s attitude just as revolting, she needs to improve her customer care skills Ordered caramelised onion quiche, when it arrived looked unappetising 🤮 cut into it and it looked like bits of rotten cabbage on bottom and tasted even worse and was only tepid Replacement prawn sandwich was totally tasteless, minute prawns, very watery sauce that soaked bread, chips not properly cooked. Needless to say was not eaten Avoid if you want decent food

Came across this lovely, friendly tearoom/cafe which is located in the pretty village of Boxford and was so impressed, I visited twice in four days. My first visit was for tea and homemade cake and the second for breakfast when I had smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast which was the best I’ve ever had. I noticed that they have a lot of local trade and seemed to be a popular meeting place for locals which is always a good sign. The lady who runs/owns the business is very friendly and extremely efficient, I will certainly be going back next time I am in the area.

If you’re after a classic country pub with no frills, just timeless charm and great food, The Wheatsheaf is the place to go. This old-fashioned gem is full of character, with its rustic interiors, warm ambiance, and a proper traditional pub vibe. The menu stays true to its roots, offering comforting, classic dishes without the need for modern twists. I tried the fish and chips, and it was everything you’d hope for—crispy, golden batter encasing tender, flaky fish, served with perfectly cooked chips. It’s hearty, satisfying, and exactly what a pub meal should be. Dog lovers will especially appreciate The Wheatsheaf, as it’s wonderfully dog-friendly. After a countryside stroll, it’s the perfect spot to unwind, with water bowls and even treats available for your four-legged companions. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly take pride in maintaining the warm, inviting feel of the pub. Whether you’re looking for a classic meal, a pint in a cozy setting, or somewhere to bring your dog, The Wheatsheaf is a true treasure.

Quirky delightful shop with great value handbags and clothes, as well as sundry gifts. The owners made us welcome and told us about their Friday morning crafting sessions around the table centre store.

We have visited this lovely old pub many times over the last few years. The latest change in management have improved the food and they look after their beers very well. Sunday lunch is really fabulous - great food, and plenty of it. We're local now so look forward to visiting more frequently. The only gripe would be that the price of wine is not for the faint-hearted.
