We didn't know Colchester at all, but happened upon Sip and Tuck when we were looking for lunch, and it was perfect for our requirements. Our only regret was that the portions were too generous for us to have room for a slice of cake! In fact, the Ploughman's defeated my husband, and so he had to ask for a doggy bag and the leftovers were sufficient for his lunch the next day.

Went to see a local band playing at this pub. A very small place, but a very lively atmosphere. Staff are super friendly and despite it's reputation is actually a very safe pub and a really good night out. Drinks are a good price and everything was perfect on our visit.

Booked a room with breakfast with booking.com in January2024 for a wedding in september they took my money . Then 6 months later the hotel cancelled my room booking.com gave me my money back and said the flag have cancelled the room, i went on another site and it said 1 room left and it was ÂŁ15 pounds more. If you treat to many people like that you will not have a business.

We came here for a Sunday carvery with quite high expectations as this pub was rated in the top 10 of pubs in Colchester for a Sunday roast by the gazette , but we were pretty disappointed to be honest, the portions were pretty good but was let down a bit by the standard, it wasnât the worst roast Iâve had in a pub but certainly wasnât the best, the gravy was watery, the cabbage was quite hard, meat was a little dry, potatoes were ok but could do with being a bit crispy, we were also disappointed with the deserts.. a couple of us ordered the meringue mountain.. expecting there to be a fair bit of meringue as the name suggests! Well it was hard to find meringue in it! It should have been called cream mountain, about half a meringue in it, bit of ice cream and strawberry and the rest squirty cream! Others had sticky toffee pudding.. all complained about it being salty, Safe to say wonât be returning

I went for one of the evening music sessions at Patch, it was my first time visiting and brought the kids as it was a Christmas event, despite being the only children there we were made to feel very welcome and the hot drinks were ace, it felt like a special night for the kids and they loved it. Will absolutely go again.

Had no problems with mother in laws wheelchair in here there was a wide door and lots of space to spin around. The front of store is full of all the chocolate that they sell and the rear is a cafe that sells coffee, tea and various chocolate snacks. The service was very quick and the coffee tasted just as it should. The only little niggle is that the regular coffee cups are without handles, which caused a problem for mother in law but bigger cups with handles were given when asked for.

Great cappuccino. Been busy but great service both times I've been. Coffee has a nice taste and is reasonably priced. They do take away as well as sitting in.

visited BakeOffe last week, hoping for a fresh start after having avoided it due to past experiences with declining food quality. Sadly, it was even worse than before. When I walked in, I overheard a young staff member mentioning she was struggling, only for the owner to dismiss her in a shockingly cold way, saying, âPut your issues in a box and leave it outside the door!â I was appalled by the lack of empathy and respect towards an employee who was clearly doing her best. To top it off, the owner refused to let the young staff member serve me, stepping in herself with an unfriendly attitude. I ordered a coffee and a muffin, but by the time I reached my car, my disappointment only grew. The muffin was wrapped in layers of clingfilm, and when I finally got to taste it, it had a terrible plastic-like flavor. This isnât a one-time issue eitherâIâve heard from friends that the muffins always have this plastic taste, likely from being wrapped in clingfilm too soon after baking. BakeOffe used to be fantastic, but itâs astonishingly disappointing now. The lack of care in both food quality and treatment of staff is really upsetting. This was once a place I enjoyed, but with the current management, I wonât be returning.
