Me and my hubby popped in yesterday for a quick sweet treat and a drink, I got the brownie because they are my favourite thing in the world. And let me tell you, this brownie was something else. It was rich, it was gooey, it was thick, it was sooo chocolatey! And now I can't stop thinking about it. It was literally the first thing on my mind this morning when I woke up. Unfortunately I don't live in the lakes but I may have to convince my husband to come back every day for the rest of my life just so I can have more of these delightful brownies! Wow 🥲

Best meal we had whilst staying in Grasmere. The restaurant was very busy but it was a Saturday night. Would definitely return!

We have just had the pleasure of eating here for Christmas dinner. Greated by the staff straight away, we went into the bar and got a drink before we sat in the dining room. Staff were super attentive, water offered to the table and starters delivered quickly. All the courses were timed just right .. not too long a wait, and yet not rushed. Each dish that graced our table was well put together, very very tasty, perfect portion sizes and picture perfect. Atmosphere was welcoming, cozy and festive. Will definitely be back when we next visit the Lakes. 5☆ all round

The perfect place for a drink and a bite to eat after a long walk. Friendly staff, good food and a good pint. Nice and cosy with the log fire on too.

Delicious food, great staff and a delicious IPA from a local brewery. I highly recommend. Today (14.12.24) we were here again, a lot has changed unfortunately for the worse.. the chef has definitely changed and you can feel it in the taste, not all beers are available.. a different atmosphere, fewer guests.. and the food, kind of average..

Not great, lady serving said she was too busy to take an order without a table number - despite only 6 tables to choose from and my saying we would look out for it. Walked back downstairs out of building to garden to check table number then soup was salty and scone was damp (microwaved?)

We decided to try the food at this establishment due to the good reviews. We are at several places over the last few days and decided on a pub lunch/dinner for our final day. We ordered the lamb kebab and the chicken kebab skewers and they were just awful. The lamb kebab looked undercooked and lacked seasoning. The presentation was awful too with drips of raita(dip) all over the container for the chips and the couscous/taboulleh underneath the meat on top of the flatbread was just sloppy and bland, just awful. I wouldn’t be returning as for £53 for 2 drinks and 2 tasteless dishes we were left with a bitter taste in our mouths. The worst food we have eaten in a long time.

Used to be a little bit different, a little bit higher quality in ingredients and in beer offerings. Now it’s just the same downgrade Peroni to Nastro etc. Save a few pence but turns the product into the same as everywhere else instead of that small cut above. Such a shame.

Can’t fault the service and the usual Costa coffee standards. But seriously marked down for atmosphere - a noisy aircon unit or fan filled the space with white noise, absolutely impossible to hold a conversation.

A stupendously friendly local watering spot to frequent after showering off in the Ghyl on the descent of a spontaneous weekly hike/Scramble. The eloquent handsome young Christopher is going to be sadly missed, as he starts his tour of the relatively so called New Found Land. But this is life, the best education can only begot by travelling 🧳, and that’s not just an opinion. But based on empirical research from living firstly in Berlin for five years and followed by nearly two decades of life in tropical far north Australia 🌴. Have a great trip Chris 🌏
