Stopped off for a coffee and ice creams for kids before drive home. Very friendly cafe, had an amazing coffee and kids had an ice-cream. Owner is very friendly and she took great pride in both her establishment and also ensuring customers were well looked after. Seems to be a favourite for both locals and tourists. Hoping she has a lovely break over the winter period and I look forward to visiting again another year!

This is another of our go to cafe when we are up in Coniston. A very friendly, warm, dog lovers place to go to for a late afternoon cappuccino and snack. Their warmed scones with jam and clotted cream are me personal favourite and to die for.

We really liked this pub and the food was delicious (lamb hotpot and steak and ale pie)... a good selection of real ales... three things let it down for us: slow to clear the pots from the table after our meal, in fact we stayed two hours and they were never moved. The next is that we found the cask ales too cold for our liking. Thirdly it's cashless, card payment only... we save for holidays and prefer to spend our cash stash. If not for these little niggles I would have given 5 stars.

This is a very good pub offering a great range of classic English dishes. We were there for a 70th birthday cake creation and had a range of starters and mains including soup of the day (leek and potato), haloumi fries, fish and chips, venison, steak and ale pie and more. The staff were excellent.

Me and my partner visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 9am. Not many places open but here was. Only 1 server on and he was not very proactive. Had to go up and collar him rather than him taking the order. Ordered 2 full breakfasts which aren’t cheap and when they arrived were missing the black pudding and the toast. I told the waiter but again he was less than interested and didn’t bring them out. Nor did he have any way of resolving the issue before we left, not even an apology. On a positive note the bottomless coffee was nice and the foot that actually arrived was also nice. So can’t fault the chef / cook, but service needs a lot of work. Wouldn’t recommend and wont be back.

Lovely , spacious, nicely decorated hotel restaurant in a lovely setting. Good atmosphere. I’m not a fan of ordering at the bar and could imagine at busy times, this could cause problems. Good variety of dishes on the menu. We dined in the evening twice and on both occasions couldn’t fault the food, simply delicious. Good sized portions at reasonable prices. I would recommend the black pudding and haggis crumpet starter and the penne arrabiatta for mains.
