Shrewsbury has many secret and special offerings but as a porridge fanatic, Cups Coffee and Creators provides a direct, fibre-optic connection to heaven. Please, please, please, choose their Biscoff/Caramel version. It is the most divine energy substance in the discovered cosmos. If questioned, pretend there is a Scottish side of your family tree and sprinkle a little salt on it. Performing this discrete, Mason-like ettiquette, notifies the serving-staff that you merit special treatment from that point forward. You'll remember how good the BCP tasted for the rest of your life in much the same way that you might recall precisely where you were, the moment Donald Trump first stepped-foot on the planet of Jupiter. In October 2024, there was talk of removing the Biscoff/Caramel topping option due to local-council regulations. With your support, this absurdity can be turned around and Shrewsbury could become the Biscoff/Caramel Porridge Capital of the World, where pilgrims will humbly queue from the renovating train station (due for completion in 2094), all the way up the hill, past the castle and into Cups (if you reach Marks & Spencer, you've gone too far, go back a bit). Cups features in-built, charming and welcoming staff (not for sale), who pro-actively extend friendliness and courtesy to all. It's a safe place for everyone, particularly mothers with children, dog owners (with dogs), laptop workers and other carbon-based life-forms, like myself, with mental irregularities. From its corner vantage-point on Castle Street, Cups is a great people-watching location allowing the monitoring of network-traffic flowing in and out of Shrewsbury's river-looped town centre along this (one of only three) Tarmac Access Gateway (TAG). Cups Coffee and Creators is hospitable to community groups and activities as well.

Fantastic brownies. Really cheap and great atmosphere! The staff are so friendly ~ this is a brilliant local place. I definitely recommend to come here.

Great pub with a friendly atmosphere! James went out of his way to make us welcome and help us out with local knowledge. Returned after dinner, and there was a live singer and the pub was packed! Would recommend!

Ordered soup of the day which was reported to be winter vegetable, unfortunately, appeared and tasted just like a tin of supermarket vegetable soup which I definitely would not have ordered for lunch out. Unappetising, so left soup and basically paid £5.75 for one slice of accompanying toast.

Decent range of drinks including real ale. Handy for the railway station especially when you've missed your connection and gave an hour to kill!

We had the lunchtime specials.. the food arrived quickly, was tasty, hot and a decent portion size.. The landlady was attentive… nice place to visit

We have visited this place many times with much satisfaction. It has changed hands and is a disaster. I have never walked out of a restaurant before and I have never placed a review on Tripadvisor, Today I have done both! There are o longer any home cooked meals. I don’t blame them for that. It’s a business choice. We ordered a tea and a hot chocolate and two cheese and ham paninis. We were told there would be. Wait for the paninis. The tea was fine. The hot chocolate was very small and not hot. After half an hour there was still no panini. The family next to us got up and left after being told their panini would be another 20 mins. They had arrived before us. I asked at the counter whether there was a problem with our order. I was told no and that there were two tables ahead of us and then we would be served. They said that would be another 15 mins or so. I told them I didn’t have the time to wait any longer. We paid for the drinks and left. It was simple food. There was no excuse. They simply didn’t have the capacity to supply the simple dishes. Nor did they have any change! It was unbelievably rank amateur. Never again.

My friends and I judge a town (and coffee shops) by their bakewell tarts and this one is our current 1st place winner! It's not a formal competition, but the home made cakes here are out of this world and must be sampled (lots of times!). It's a lovely coffee bar and well worth the visit. We had 3 x bakewell tarts (plus more bought for take out), 2 x hot chocolates and 1 x pot of tea (no milk for the tea).

We ended up here after shopping on a Sunday afternoon in Shrewsbury. We hadn't had any lunch and it was getting late, despite this the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very tasty. Will be back
