The best restaurants serving Other european-cuisines food in Colchester East of England

We needed a cup of tea and happened to be close by so popped in and browsed the books etc and had a superb cup of tea. Pot of tea for 2 with a biscuit £3 cant go wrong and for a good cause.

We are a coffee morning group who enjoyed a wonderful Christmas lunch at The Three Tuns. We all agree the food was cooked to perfection with a fun and friendly atmosphere. Maria is a super cook and Mike a great host.

Haven't stayed here for a couple of years as we had a bad experience as there was a wedding going on in the gardens and the staff were struggling However, I'm pleased to say the service between checking in and departure was nothing short of exceptional . It will certainly not be 2 years before we return. Bravo

I am surprised to hear the great reviews for superb afternoon tea . Unfortunately it was not the same for us. Went for a Mother's day gift afternoon tea. Standard but would not return. Sandwiches were dry, bacon inside was mostly the fat . Small cakes were not homemade either. Service was perfect, very attentive throughout. Lovely friendly staff. Shame the food was a letdown. We have had much better afternoon teas .

Good location, food was good. Ordered the sunset burger which was nice and partner ordered the double chicken wrap which was a bit dry. The service was good until we were asked to leave our table to another so as to accommodate a larger group of people which was fine. What I found rude was when I said, thanks we have finished anyway and we would just leave she said “well we need the table now and you can continue having your chat on table 9”. Like what’s that all about?! Definitely not coming back there. Next when we say a table for 2, put on a table for 2 and don’t ask me to move and be rude about it! Such a shame because the atmosphere was good but that was embarrassing for us.

This is the second time we have stayed here this year. We stayed in Butchers room which is just lovely. The bed is very comfortable & the pillows are amazing. We dined in the restaurant both times & the choice & quality of the food is great. Breakfast was very good, the offer continental as well as a fresh cooked selection. The bar area is nice with an open fire & cosy sofas. Plenty of parking. I can’t say enough good about this place. Well worth a visit if you like a relaxing break.

They don't bother to cook their chicken. Completely raw. Avoid avoid avoid

bad attitude, stupid delivery drivers, can't read, avoid at all costs, if you're drunk on the high street good luck - never ever get delivery

Only lasted 20 mins as manager was rude to us and then got a parking fine for waiting! Appealed decision and it got rejected. Seems to be going downhill.
