We visited this restaurant as a party of 9 for the first time this weekend for a family meal for my husband's birthday. The choice of food is extensive, and all meals were amazing. The service is what makes this place stand out, it was absolutely exceptional. the staff went above and beyond on numerous occasions to ensure we all had anything we requested. This place is a little hidden gem, definitely worth a visit and we will 100% be returning!

We ordered a cake for my Nana’s 70th birthday we’d seen advertised on their website and sent the pic over when ordering asking for it to look like that and also asked for milk chocolate to be drizzled over the top instead of dark chocolate (dark chocolate was in the picture) because my nana or anyone else doesn’t like dark chocolate. My mum has picked the cake up and when she got home noticed it looks nothing like what we had asked for. There is no big bar of milk chocolate or kinder buenos on the top like pictured, instead there is big thin pieces of dark chocolate. It was also dark chocolate drizzled over the top which again we specifically asked for it to be milk chocolate. The response we get is that she “should have checked the cake before she left”??? And “it states that in their terms and conditions”? Why would my mum or anyone in fact feel the need to check the terms and conditions or even check the cake it’s self before leaving when we have sent over a picture of which cake we wanted and also specifically asked for certain things? If they couldn’t cater the cake we wanted we should’ve been told. We got offered to travel all the way back to Warrington going out of our way and wasting more of our time to take the cake back and get 50% back of what we payed? Which in no way benefits us because we’ve then got no cake and have lost 50%. To which I can guarantee they would then re-sell the cake and make more money. My mum had spoke to a lady over email and I then also messaged on Facebook because I wasn’t impressed with the response my mum got and I’ve been ignored on Facebook so I’ll post it on here instead. I understand no cake is going to be the exact same as one another but half of the toppings we asked for are different and especially the dark chocolate drizzle on top when we asked for it to be milk chocolate instead. The cake we got isn’t what we asked for and the staff have been in no way helpful or understanding

Manager was very aggressive towards myself and a friend, and also to another table where pensioners were sat. There were tables with crackers and tables without crackers, as we had gone in for a Christmas dinner we asked about crackers, the manager said you can’t have a cracker as you have not booked them, weird I know, but we accepted that and ordered our Christmas meal About 10 minutes later 4 elderly people came in, they went to sit at the table with crackers, only for them to be told you can’t sit there are you haven’t ordered any crackers, weird again We told the pensioners that we were told the same thing, we all agreed that if you’re having a Christmas meal then maybe you should have a cracker, nothing major was said, just opinions The manager overheard us talking and became very aggressive in his tone, walked up to the pensioners table and started kicking off at them and us stating you didn’t order any crackers so why are you complaining, saying you have ruined my Christmas now going on about crackers! I told him to calm down there was no need to be aggressive over a cracker!!! He was so aggressive raising his voice, kicking off at us and the elderly people dining also, I informed his brother who came with our bill that he was aggressive and both myself, my friend and the pensioners had become quite scared of his manner This is my first time at this restaurant and I will never return again, I would suggest people don’t eat here! How can a grown man be aggressive and vile to pensioners is beyond me !!!

Table of 8, Food look warm, chips were hot , meals came out at difrent times, had to send 1 plates of food back it was that cold, food not eorth the price had better at a weather's so thats saying something l, Rubbish service yes they were busy but no excuse , singer to loud couldn't talk to each other. Then waited over an hour for the bill, first bill was £475. 75 over what we orderd as they had thrown in somebody's lunch bill on our receipt...they argued until they rilised it was there mistake, second bill was the 1st bill again and we were told to ignore the top half, so we went through it drawn lines through all items we did not order ...they took that bill away again to bring the same bill back, no ammened bill and said we need to pay £435 we disputed this as we got the bill at £ 410. By this time this was an hour later from the 1st bill being brought out It is this point the waitress got an attitude with one of our party and manager was called. Then a 3rd bill came out this was a new fully itemised with all orders so this was correct they said at £435 so we paid, we got a very sorry for the mix up not offer of the bill being reduced or free drink . Just you have paid now on your way . Poor food Rude staff , not all staff Ripp off So look at your bill as they add other diners orders to it. Very unsatisfactory

I hadn't visited IKEA Café for a while so I decided to pop in for lunch a couple of weeks ago for their infamous meatballs, chips, peas and gravy. On the plus side, the food served was as delicious as ever, so no complaints there. Also, despite the café undergoing a refurbishment as of present, I found the (limited) seating area to be sufficient, with enough tables for everyone, all of which were nice and clean. However, the main thing that let this place down was the time it took to get served. Yes, the queue was long but considering plating up meatballs, chips, gravy and peas takes about 30 seconds, it made me wonder why I was waiting in the queue for at least 15 minutes if not 20. I'm not sure if this is connected to the refurbishment but if the staff can't serve a queue of customers promptly, they shouldn't be open at all. I also visited a couple of months ago, this time at teatime and the queue still took the same ridiculously long amount of time. The staff serving were nice and friendly however I didn't particularly rate the younger members of staff on the tills on my latest visit. There seemed to be three members of staff huddled behind the counter. I went up to one of the two tills, only to be told that only one of them was in operation! So what was the point of IKEA paying two additional members of staff to not do any work and stand around like statues? Also, I was disappointed to see IKEA giving their customers wooden cutlery and paper plates to eat their food off. Even when I was in school I was served by school dinners on ceramic plates and provided with metal cutlery; not sure why a professionally run café can't do the same! Portion sizes have also decreased since my last visit, possibly a result of their new and ingenious paper plates. Overall, I still like IKEA Café and I would go again but if I were to advise anyone, I would assess the size of the queue before joining it and ideally avoid lunchtime when this place is likely most busy. If the queue looks long, it might be best avoiding the café until after the so-called refurbishment is complete.
