My partner and I were in Brighton to visit friends (its my partner's home town). We decided to go here for a meal and had eaten here before and enjoyed the experience. We had booked a table but were shown to the back wall which is not a great place. We know that one often has to share a table and that was fine, but the bar at the back means you are literally looking at a wall, so beware. I order a sea bream and my partner had mussels. My sea bream was very small, served without anything and came to £40 and was absolutely not worth it. My partner who is a mussel lover and eats them whenever he can was disappointed by the quantity and portion size of the mussels. The staff here are aloof and behave as though they are superior to the customers and the floor is like an ice skating rink (no idea what that is about but I nearly fell over twice). Sadly, this place is over-priced and a poor experience - probably resting on laurels of a past reputation. If you want a genuine sea-food experience go to The Regency Restaurant, it may not look as swish but they serve good food with service at good prices.

My local fish and chip shop has been used by me for years - not the best I have ever had but plenty good enough. The man behind the counter is fine if you speak to him.

Dined on Saturday 16th November, definitely one to try, the staff are young but know service, very relaxed environment, welcoming and as it should be the food was exquisite. Some people may find it a little expensive but for the quality of the food I would say the price is absolutely fair!

Used to be excellent then it changed hands a few years back and every time we’ve been either the quality or the service has been awful. Last night we went for what will be the final time as when we got home we discovered they had forgotten to include part of our order (the kids food) and refused to deliver it to us despite it being their mistake, instead expecting us to make a 40 minute round journey to collect ourselves (we’d dished up all the other food and were literally sitting down to eat). It’s a shame because Wolfies used to be the kind of place we recommended regularly and took visiting friends and family to. Never again.

Came here with friends on a Sunday. We booked fairly far in advance. When we arrived, we were seated by the window in front of a pillar, blocking the sea view, even though all the other tables by the window were free. We asked to move to one of the better placed tables, and the waiter looked stressed and said he would have to check as they were all allocated and dissappeared off for a long period of time. As we were there first, and the other groups hadn't arrived yet, you would think there would be no issue with the simple request of switching two tables of 4, but clearly was too much of an ask for this waiter, so we stayed put. We then were handed menu's and we ordered our food. It was only after we ordered we realised people around us were eating roasts. We were never handed a roast menu or made aware that they were available, which was disappointing. The food arrived, and luckily the food was in fact, delicious. Then we ordered a couple of puddings. These were also delicious, but too forever to come like we had been forgotten. Overall the service does not meet the standard you expect from Rockwater. I wonder if they have become complacent with their reputation as the years have gone by. Also, the hand driers in the ladies don't work, which is poor from an establishment that charges as much as rockwater does. Won't be rushing for a return visit. There are far better establishments in Brighton.

Absolutely terrible!!!! Waste of food and the owner is an absolute disgrace! He hasn't got a clue, rude, and tries to charge you every penny he can!!! He didn't want to separate the cod with the chips because he didn't want to use another sheet of paper to wrap it. Hadock was undercooked and soggy. Chips soggy too, and the owner is really stingy with the salt and vinegar! Large chips, small cod, and medium haddock nearly £20 quid, definitely not worth it, and you get charged for the 10p bag! Cash only too!!! Joke of a place, last time ever! Never again!!!! F that!!!!

23 of us booked to have our Xmas meal here on a Friday evening. We all pre-ordered our menu choices and a deposit of £250 was paid. The drinks seemed reasonably priced for Brighton which was a bonus. We were due to eat at 7.30 pm and moved to the restaurant. Our various starters arrived at 8.15 pm and were at best luke warm. These were consumed and we waited for our main courses, we waited and waited. Several more trips to the bar and eventually after lots of chasing the mains started appearing at approximately 9.30 pm. The beef short rib arrived cold so was returned and never seen again and when questioned we were told they were making it fresh! I returned my meal to the kitchen as it was now too late for me to eat without making myself poorly, a few others from our party had to leave before the food had arrived due to getting home for family commitments and not one person received a satisfactory meal. I felt incredibly sorry for the staff who obviously had no control over the debacle it had become. When we complained and said we would not be paying the balance as the food was not worth it but they could keep the deposit we were asked if we would at least pay for our starters! No apology was received and we suggested that our deposits would more than cover the starters. We didn’t bother hanging around for pudding and all left feeling extremely disappointed at what we had just experienced and agreed it was the absolute worst dining experience any of us have ever had. Needless to say I will never ever return to this venue again. It used to be such a good place for food and being a true Brightonian I have visited many times in the past. They really stood be ashamed of themselves and need a little more customer service training. Thanks for ruining a bunch of very hard working NHS’s employees night.
