Highly recommend this pub. We went for the 3 course set Christmas menu with a group of about 15 of us and couldn’t have been happier with our afternoon. Food was impeccable (in particular the fig and goats cheese starter), presentation was beautiful, vibes were amazing. The staff were really attentive, prompt and really friendly- we were a rather loud table and they had no issues with us playing Christmas songs on the guitar. Thank you for a lovely afternoon, it really got us all in the festive mood! Will absolutely come again.

On 04/01/2025 I ordered a meal. Right after felt very sick, had to go to QA hospital due to food poisoning. Seems like I contracted Salmonella. Absolutely abysmal. I called them to notify but they didn't care and the manager started laughing. Well you won't be laughing after I reported this restaurant for appalling food hygiene and due to food standards agency.

We visited for a 12 plate lunch deal using a Virgin Experience voucher with a value of £79.00. The food was great (we do eat Thai food in many places and this was very good) They do need to put a sign inside the front door. You walk through the front door into a small bar area with absolutley no one around and have no idea what the procedure is?? (You actually have to go up the stairs but their is no way of knowing this) Drinks prices as you's expect - Bottle peroni £6, Cheapest bottle of white wine (nice though) £35, Glass of white wine £8, extra prawn crackers £5. All as you would expect. The big downside here is that they decide to put a 13.5% service charge on the whole bill, including the vaule of your voucher!! very cleverly done in order to extract an extra servcie charge form you - please see the receipt attached to see how they do this. Very sneaky and off course puts the customer in an embarrassing situation if you chose not to pay it. Would I go again? Yes, I would do the voucher thing again as the food and service were both good. However, I wouldn't pay the service charge - I'd take a tenner with me in cash and leave that in the hope that the staff actually get it. Doesn't seem quite cricket to whack a service charge on at the top of the bill, this should have been deducted at the bottom as a deposit already paid.

Both my Thai partner and my Thai son said how great the food was and I agree with them. My son had already eaten his evening meal but still wanted more food. He opted for a portion (4 slices) of sesame prawn toast, prawn crackers and his favourite Thai style Squid. My partner chose the slow cooked pork belly with holy basil (Phat kaphrao) which was served with stir fry vegetables and rice (my son also took her rice) and I opted for the Prawn Jungle Curry and steamed rice. My partner said how authentic her dish was and she ate it all. We both tried my son’s prawn toast and it was made perfectly, probably the best I’ve had. Although there was a large table (8-10) dining at the same time our food service time was not impaired, neither was the table service. The ambient restaurant is filled with Isaan style decor with lots of handmade Bamboo items like fish traps, sticky rice cooling trays and baskets. The owner was very friendly and chatty, we had a great choice of drinks to choose from, I had a couple of Thai beers, my partner had 2 G&T’s presented in a real Gin fish bowl glass with crushed ice and my son opted for a diet cola. All in all it was a lovely family night out, we all enjoyed the restaurant and will definitely be returning.

We just had a lovely Mothers Day lunch in Spice Oven. Very kind, polite service, good atmosphere! Loved the relaxing oriental music. Food was amazing, the Indian street food section was fab, also the paneer curry, dim sums just to mention a few. Kids loved the curries and then building their own puddings with all the ice cream flavours and sweets. Thanks Spice Oven for a great experience!
