Disappointed that ceasar salad was full of deep fried pitta bread & dressed with Marie Rose sauce not ceasar dressing Asked for salt to be given pepper in salt (one hole) container Portions generous just not necessarily what expected

As always here in London, you come across places you’ve not seen for a long time and want to try them again, this was a night like that. I had a large Kofta (enough for 2 people) and it was awesome, both in terms of quantity and taste.

The food was ok, slightly above average. Great presentation, fresh and tasty. However, my concern since I visited it twice is the handling of meats. Both times, they were not good as expected. Having 4 cooks and possibly a chef in the kitchen... it should be outstanding food-wise, it is just above average.

Solo diner arriving at 8:50 Monday evening, greeted with what i can only call disappointment. Having eaten here before i knew what i wanted but was questioned if i would be able to eat it all!(not really any of their business and i also pointed out that takeaway was available through online providers so a box to go home with wouldn't be a problem!)...more critical eyes raised. I ordered a beer and some to eat whilst waiting,my main course came, was thrown in front me and was told i had 20 minutes to get out of the place. There was no offer of another drink nor a check to see if everything was OK...just sullen glances in my direction while the front of house guy played loud videos on YouTube. This made the whole experience horrible and unwelcoming. To add to this cash only payment was demanded and at the end of the meal i needed to go the bank(maybe 4 doors down the street)...on my way back the front of house bully was greeting me on the pavement saying that he's waiting for me,i paid and didn't even receive the correct change...i was ushered out and when i said that the experience was bad his reply was just he had somewhere to go and drove off in his 4×4 BMW .....I'm shocked, saddened and disappointed.

This restaurant is attractively situated in a Georgian street, and offers something a little different for the discerning diner. The food was expertly cooked and tasty and prices were reasonable. Helpful staff also added to the enjoyment of the experience. The restaurant is modern and well-appointed whilst maintaining character. I had a stuffed vine leaf starter for something suitably Roman, whilst my hubby chose king prawns (so good I snaffled one!) He and my sons then chose Turkish mixed grills which they found delicious. All the food tasted good, and my son also enjoyed his baked Halloumi starter. The restaurant also offers vegetarian and vegan options. My only criticism is I would have preferred my sea bass to have been pre-boned. Otherwise though, overall a lovely place to eat, recommended. :)

I ordered food from the restaurant. Spent £80 worth. My meal was incomplete and looked like I had spent about £20 worth of food. It was shocking and very disappointing especially as I had eaten here before and previously enjoyed it. I definitely would not recommend Ege to anyone now after that disappointment. DO NOT GO HERE, it’s a complete rip off!!!!

Great little place, great food, chaps running it, old school hospitality, no sulky kids with mobile phones in the back pocket, not caring. Highly recommend.

Brillante comida fresca - servida con panes frescos y ensaladas. Simpático. Simplemente excelente Nuestro favorito en esta tira en la capucha. Estaremos aquí de nuevo pronto.

Bit sad that the big restaurant at the southern end of Mutley has closed and seems to have split into a smaller takeaway and eat in kebab and burger place with rest of the old restaurant looking to be metamorphosing into a new barber shop. But all is not lost. Soon after Christmas when we were using Colin Campbell car park we spotted the Shawarma logo sign on the back door of the 3rd or 4th shop down on the southern side of Frankfort Gate. Evidently the business continues in some form and at least deliveries are being picked up from down there.

Good casual dinner. Large menu and large portions. Staff were friendly and quick. Had the Turkish pizza and doner plate. Both very good.

Ever 2023 I have not looked back. It’s a shame I’m moving back because the food is remarkable. Customer service is great as well. It’s a shame I’m moving back to London because I would take these guys with me as well. As a uni student it’s hard to trust new food spots but these guys have never disappointed. Best food spot in Colchester.

The doner kebab, chicken burger and chips were incredible and the lady and gent were more than lovely! I’d happily just go back to talk to them and luckily amazing food comes alongside that!
