ASK - Moreton-in-Marsh in Cotswold

Fantastic service by ‘Lucy’ a solo waitress , I kept thinking another member of staff would appear as restaurant was quite busy, she handled everything impeccably and with a smile, truly excellent customer service, she should be awarded the 5 gold stars. Only breaded chicken as a chicken dish would have loved a choice.

Called in here for a light lunch whilst staying in Moreton over Christmas. Lovely welcome, with a free small sample of their delicious home-made lemonade. Great staff, quick service and good food. Gave us the 'locals' discount as we were staying on the Caravan Club site in the village.

It had very good service, delicious food and a friendly staff. I recommend it.

There didn't seem to be any heating on as the radiators were all cold. Consequently the restaurant was a bit too chilly for comfort. However, the bottle of beer I ordered arrived with a very warm glass! The food was barely lukewarm and served on a stone cold plate. At these prices I would expect better.

Had the most gorgeous meal! I had yummy prawns to start with and their festive pasta was absolutely stunning! Really enjoyed it and can’t wait to go there again! 😊

Great service and food, we come here every year for Christmas. The only downside was we booked well in advance but was put on a round table for 7 of us with no space at all, it was very cramped and uncomfortable for us all

Absolutely brilliant restaurant, based on the Ask chain but this restaurant feels much more cozy & the separate sections makes it feel more like a family place. The staff are possibly the most friendly & efficient I have ever met, & very accommodating ( the online ordering was not working so I had to order in person). Pizzas were perfect, salad very good & the new Pesto & cheese starters are so addictive I could have eaten 5 portions ☺️. Perfect place ideal for anyone, highly recommend

I visited this place in July on a Sunday evening. Used a taste card and again had issues. I went online and reserved a table for two for about 6.20pm but it had no option to use a Taste card. Having learnt my lesson from the Brighton experience, I decided to call them as well and said we wanted two tables and would be using a taste card. For some reason the staff said they had no more tables available until after 7pm. I said I already reserved online and I was just confirming I was using a Taste card. The staff said they misunderstood and it was fine. When I turned up, there were plenty of empty tables so not entirely sure if I was rejected because of the Taste card. Food was generally ok until paying for the bill. The Taste card requires the staff to scan the code to give you a discount. Unfortunately there seemed like there were only 2 staff serving the entire restaurant on what was probably one of the busiest Sundays. In total it took about 20minutes from asking for the bill to get the final payment done. I had to go to the exit and tell them I waited far too long. If this chain can't employ more than 2 waiting staff then something is extremely odd! If you want fast food, it's probably better off getting food from the dumpster as it's quicker than eating at this place.

From the greeting when you walk through the door to the goodbye as you leave, we had a wonderful experience. We visited with our two children whilst having a mooch around several Cotswold towns. Although part of a chain, the Cotswold charm of the building was not lost. We all loved our food but the Sea Bass al forno was fantastic! The staff were so attentive, our glasses never seemed to get empty. It’s classed as one glass of wine when it’s never been finished isn’t it? We cannot wait for our next cotswold adventure and we will definitely be visiting ASK again

Amazing Meal this lunchtime. Sian & Sahara looked after us so well. The Calzone was lovely & I wish I could have had more of the Shiraz….. the atmosphere was lovely. Speedy service & just a fantastic lunch. Can’t wait to come back at Christmas :)

It's a nice Italian restaurant. I particularly enjoyed the pizza options, and my child seemed to like it as well. The kids' menu was both satisfying and engaging, with coloring activities to keep them entertained. The location is convenient, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We visited around 4.30pm on a Tuesday afternoon in October and certainly won’t be going back !! The customer service was appalling. There were 3 adults in the party and we were going to order drinks then an early dinner. Upon arrival we were shown to our table by a waitress who seemed completely disinterested in the process. We were offered a complimentary “shot” but I had to ask what it was as two of our party didn’t drink alcohol. I was told it was a “craft lemonade”. It was pleasant enough. The waitress then took our drinks order as we perused the menu. Meanwhile I had become aware of the piped music around us being really loud. Worse still there was a second, completely different source of music being played at the same time. When the waitress returned I politely asked her if one of the radios could be turned off as we were finding it really unsettling and not conducive to a relaxing, family meal. The waitress explained that the chef was playing his music in the kitchen and that was the source of the other music. We explained that we really weren’t bothered which was one turned off. Sadly this request was completely ignored and both radios continued. Upon the return of the waitress to take our meal orders we decided we would finish our drinks and eat elsewhere where we would feel welcomed and respected. The waitress seemed nonplused about the whole affair. No apologies were made just an explanation that she “doesn’t work here usually and was only there for the day “ !! We paid for our drinks and took our customer to a local, independent establishment. Wouldn’t bother using this chain ever again.

Had lunch with my 6 year old son. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was tasty and both enjoyed pizza and carbonara. Nice atmosphere with tasteful interior.

Lucy made our experience very pleasant. Helpful and cheerful but not intrusive she made our evening a great end to a good day. Thankyou

The hostess (regret I do not know her name) and server Emma T were brilliant. Both were so welcoming when we arrived at last minute on a 'dark and rainy night' ;) We have them and the kind chef to thank for a delicious meal. We will return!

Food is good here, been several times. However at certain times of day, such as 3pm when we turned up, customers are an afterthought. We waited ten minutes at the entrance with another couple before us, while staff zoomed about not making eye contact. Eventually we left. Customers should not be kept waiting without someone explaining what was happening. Amateurish and disrespectful. Used to be a frequent visitor, wont go back again.

Appalling. Served me a meat dish when the order was specifically vegetarian. Appalled.

Food was served lukewarm on the colder side . Aperol spirits was the worst I've ever had I don't believe there was any prosecco in it . We had 2 pasta dishes and 1 calzone . The appetizer we shared was the dough balls which were terrible dry and tasteless. Honestly we did eat everything due to being starving. Waiter did his best but he was the only 1 working but did provide good friendly service .

Ordered and our drinks didnt arrive, waited 30 mins then asked a server. They then brought them after asking food came but bolognase should be fettuccine not spaghetti. Don't recomend serves were rude and ignored us

Popped in without reserving a table on a busy Sunday, were met with a really friendly welcome. Had a lovely quiet table. Food is really good and service excellent, would definitely recommend and will be revisiting the future.

The self crafted raspberry lemonade and chocolate etna are delicious! We had our dinner but just had to stop by when we came across chocolate etna on the menu

Family dinner was fantastic. They accommodated a vegetarian and gluten-free diner with no problems as well as a 2 1/2 year-old what could you ask for more.

We always love going for a family dinner at the moreton in marsh restaurant. The staff are always very friendly and the service and food always fantastic.

I don't recommend it at all, insulting Italian cuisine, the service is nice, my sister, who speaks Italian fluently, asked if there is any restaurant run by native Italians here in the UK

Arrived 20 mins early for our 6pm booking. Seated and order taken at 5:45 and then the long wait! The restaurant was not extremely busy despite it being a bank holiday weekend. We were missing three sets of cutlery and crayons for the children, which we were told would arrive shortly. 6.20pm and the starters finally arrived, minus one, which we had to point out and after a further delay it arrived. One of the starters we believe had a hair in it, so reported it and were told it was a vein from one of the prawns. They agree to take this off the bill, so fair play. Starters finished and only half was cleared away and we now faced another hour delay, before the main course arrived after we had complained. Again one missing. After finishing our main we decided we had had enough and got up to leave, where we were given a 30% off the bill so again fair play, but ultimately we did not leave until 8pm with young tired children. Food was ok but service was shocking and as a result we are unlikely to return or continue to be on the Ask mailing list! Sorry but would not recommend :-(

It's a lovely restaurant in a lovely little town. Very clean with lovely attentive staff. Food was nice and a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

Bang average food, high prices.

We eat here regularly and always have delicious food. The staff are very welcoming but the service just seems to be getting slower and slower. The food comes fairly quickly but the initial ordering, and waiting for drinks, desserts, clearing plates takes way too long. The staff are always busy but it seems like there aren't enough of them to cope with all the tables.

Great for a large table of 8 we can be a bit noisy but were accommodated well.

After a day of exploring the local area, we were really well accommodated as we requested a table as a walk in for an evening meal. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming as we first arrived, offering us a choice of place to sit and enjoy our meal. The menu is really diverse considering its simplicity, with all of the food we ordered being amazing, really delicious and prepared in a very reasonable time. The whole menu is very well priced and caters for young children well, most importantly we had a family allergy being very well catered for, with staff dealing with it with the upmost professionalism. What sets the restaurant apart from others we’ve visited however, is the amazing staff! So friendly and welcoming, making a real effort with the whole family to ensure we had a lovely experience. Special thanks goes to our servers, Sian and Sahara, who were amazing throughout. Thanks to all, we’ll definitely be back again.

The food is average, but the staff are amazing! They are so kind and welcoming to my elderly mother and keep an eye on her and the reason we return. The salads are often drowned in dressing, and the chicken overcooked (chicken Caesar) Had seabass at last visit and it was a tiny portion and also overcooked. Nice touch with the shot of lemon on arrival and the decor/ambience is lovely. Wish I could be more positive about the food - it isn’t awful but definitely room for improvement. I expect if you stick to their core of pizza and pasta it may be better. Can’t fault the staff though - thank you 🙏🏼

Great relaxed lunch and good menu selection

Very disappointed, I turned up on Wednesday evening with my wife and baby, looking forward to one of our first meals out for a while! Arrived at 8pm, waited at the door to be seated for around 5-10 mins whilst the staff kept walking past us like we were invisible. (I could understand if it was busy, but it wasn’t). Finally a waitress noticed us patiently waiting, only to tell us that the kitchen is about to close so that they can’t seat us. It was 8:10pm and their closing time is 10pm. We were told we can have a takeaway, which confused me slightly as I was unsure where they would cook it if the kitchen was closed. Plus I didn’t fancy eating a lasagne in my car with my hands.

Came here tonight with my fiancé for a lovely meal. Staff seemed very friendly but disorganised. Food was slow to come and service was very bad. Table behind us left without eating because of how long it was taking despite tables that had come in after them getting their food first. Food was ok. Bit burnt but edible. I recon they need a change of chef / chefs. No tip but decent waiters.

Poor service and very slow to bring out food. We were out for a birthday meal and left after our starters. We waited and waited for the main course and even after we complained we were still left waiting. Completely spoiled the experience and we will never book here again.

Moreton-in-Marsh is a great place to visit but if you enjoy a walk then take a trip by footpath to Batsford Arboretum with a circular footpath and track back into the village - but which time you will be ready to do justice to the newly refurbed Ask Italian restaurant in the main street. The new manager and her staff made us very welcome an we had plenty of choices with a specials card, dishes of the day, set price options for three courses and a la carte. We both went for the crab and prawn linguini which was excellent. Sadly, although a Friday lunchtime - we arrived at 1.30pm - the place only had one other table (for six) occupied. My friend and I will be back before long with our partners.

There are always one of two items not available but today a lack of delivery meant many items were not available. We drive for almost an hour for this treat every couple of months & to find chips are off the menu along with many other items was very disappointing. The chips are always good & we had been looking forward to these with our pizzas - which thankfully were on! Desserts were good as always, but very few customers in at lunchtime. Maybe they were put off by the depleted menu. Come on Ask. You are better than this.

Food was really good and the staff were nice but obviously overworked and needed some backup. Towards the end of the meal it had quietened down and they were much more relaxed and personable so I think management definitely need to add more staff at times like this

Terrible! When we got the order, what a disappointment!!! I thought that my partner’s Pizza was bought in a supermarket frozen department. Mine, gluten free pizza, did not taste nice. Same, I think the base was bought not made. Not worth the money. Will never come back and spare my friends from it as well.

Great food! Service was friendly but quite slow as they were very busy (it was a Saturday night). Only a couple of vegan options but luckily they were great for us and we didn't mind. Would restrict future visits though as I wouldn't want to have the same thing repeatedly. The spring greens were amazing, highly recommend.

Sharn (maybe spelt her name wrong oops!) was soo lovely, so accommodating as we were in a rush and just a general and genuine pleasure to talk to! Would 100% be served by her again, and the food came quick and was smashing!♥️

Fairly regularly used this rest restaurant over last 18y but I noticed the food was less tasty this time. My starter mushrooms which I usually have, were much drier this time. My Ceasar Chicken was good but there was too much lettuce. Enjoyed meal and will continue to visit.

This was amazing Italian food. We didn’t have a reservation and came in at 8 and were seated immediately. We had the cheese fondue which was delicious and not stinky like fondue sometimes is. We also had the bruschetta which was very good, crispy bread and fresh tomatoes. The vegan carbonara was a delight since it used vegan bacon and gave an authentic carbonara taste. We also added chili oil to the pasta and it added the perfect amount of spice. The chocolate etna for dessert was rich and chocolately.

So wonderfully fresh! Fresh Pappardelle with mushroom ragu. Garden veggies on the side. Excellent! The service was as wonderful.

Restaurant lacks atmosphere. People being turned away when the restaurant was not full and tables remained empty. Staff pleasant but food a bit hit and miss. Mushroom and arancini Starters were good and hot but pasta main course was lukewarm warm and stodgy.

We had a superb meal here. It was the best meal I’ve had in a while and have eaten out every week. Prices are reasonable too.

Absolutely amazing service my Jacob who got us to stay despite being busy & run off their feet. He didn’t stop running around the whole time we were there but gave impeccable service & with a smile, nothing was too much trouble….. If only every place was like this. Came here on Saturday for a meal with my family and family who were visiting, fantastic food, all fresh and quick. Staff were super helpful and so lovely to my children. Sahara is an absolute star and always goes above and beyond for anyone. Definitely recommend!

The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, we can highly recommend the risotto con funghi and the mushroom ragu pappardelle both with chicken added.

Quite a mixed experience. Arrived and we were waiting for a table for 10-15 minutes whilst the staff were nowhere to be seen despite it being quite empty. Food was delicious although our order was wrong but they were very friendly staff and you know what you’re going to get food wise as it’s relatively the same menu all the time. Nice large selection of drinks and the ambiance of the restaurant is really nice.

Food very poor. Pizza hardly had any topping. In fact it was bare base in parts. Had way better pizza made by my kids.
