We had pasta before taking the train; food was nice but I wanted to write this review especially to commend the service, which was impeccable. Orlando went out of his way to advise us and ensure we made our train on time. Thank you!

No volveríamos

Saturday afternoon looking for a venue to satisfy all family members is no mean feat. After debating a few menus and offerings we eventually chose Carluccio's. We all had the set menu not because we wanted to save money but because it offered good, inviting choices. We chose the butternut squash soup, the pate and the salad. For mains we had chicken Milanaise, beef ragout and tomato linguine. All had great flavour. The service was attentive and knowledgable by the young enthusiastic man who served us. My only gripe would be that the Peroni could have been colder but that's my personal opinion.

Today, 2nd December on our seventh anniversary decided to come back to Carluccio Canary Wharf after the very positive experience on my Birthday and once again were not disappointed. We got a very good reception from the waiter who showed us to a table and immediately brought the menus and asked if we wanted some drinks. We shared the Bruschetta platter which was delicious, then I had Lamb chops perfectly cooked and very flavoursome served with Caponata. My partner had Ravioli al Limone which he enjoyed then of course we were tempted by the dessert and this was the final touch. Panettone and Gelato so beautiful that although I had more then enough I was not able to stop eating, my partner indulged in a chocolate fudge cake so reach and decadent . What can I say more. The service was very good and because at that time about 16.30 hrs there was a change of the staff we had different waiters attending our table and all they were absolutely great; eventually one young Finnish waitress started her shift, she recognised us and came to talk and she served the rest of the dinner and she went the extra mile when I was not sure what to have for dessert. Please pass my thanks to everyone and look forward to our next visit for yet another birthday before Christmas.

No doubt about it, for a warm welcome and great authentic Italian food guaranteed it's carlucci's. The rice balls and carbonara are the best, plus breads, Chicken Milanese fresh and tasty. The portions aren't huge, but it's a case of quality not quantity. Would l return? in a heartbeat. Prices are economical and fair.

Went here for lunch yesterday and had the set menu. Specifically asked for the mushroom soup with no pancetta, this was an option on the menu, in it. Started eating it and had this strong meat flavour in my mouth. After closer inspection we discovered it was full of small lardons of pancetta. This is very worrying. Lucky I just choose not to eat meat, if this had been a person of ethnical choice I'm sure the restaurant could of have a whole lot of bigger problems. Manager wasn't even consulted and nothing was done to compensate us. This is a huge mistake that should not be happening.

Always a busy place, no matter the time of day, but early on a Saturday night, on Mother's Day (In March in the UK), it was a fun jumble of ages: kids eating spaghetti and meatballs, their parents having calamari, and older 'children' with elderly parents drinking prosecco. Good variety on the set menu and good value for money. Also came with a 10% off voucher to use in the store afterwards. (Chocolate-filled hazelnut baci cookies - yum!)

Were it not for the waiter I would have little positive to say. It is a vibrant chain restaurant though some may just find it noisy. Given that the chain sells itself as an authentic taste of Italy some of the dishes were ok but there was little finesse or refinement with only a nod to the season. Beware of the cannelloni and pearl barley salad - bland beyond words. The charming waiter did his best to lift the meal but in the end if the food does not speak for itself all one is left with is the bill.

Saw Carluccios and made a bee-line for the door.Excellent service, quality food, great coffee and 'real' orange juice - Faultless. in fact the only time it hasn't been faultless was when I visited the St Christopher's Place restaurant in W1 - they were understaffed and massively over-crowded and nothing went right for me or in fact any of the tables around me - Carluccio's management - you need to take a good look at this branch. Accompanied by a crisp green salad of Little Gem lettuce, more rocket and fresh parmesan with a light dressing. A reasonable glass of Italian white wine and tap water. When I ordered a double espresso I was asked if I wanted light or strong and a decent amount was served with another glass of iced water in the Italian way.My Polish waiter was efficient and helpful and made great efforts to get away from the clients on the next table to serve me, when they wanted to talk about football. They say 100% of service charge goes to the staff so I hope it does. They have amazing food and great wine!! You can tell that the food is home made and the pasta is fabulous. The only complaint we had was that the server asks if you want olives and bread (like many Italian restaurants) but didn't tell us we would be charged 10 pounds for it. That is a difference because in the states we never pay for bread as an appetizer unless it is written on the menu. Bread is usually expected when you purchase a meal at an italian restaurant. We spent £122 for two, and while the service was fine, the food and drink were disappointing. The food wasn’t tasty and very overpriced at £22 for a bland saffron risotto and thick chewy agnolotti. Nothing was “wrong” per se, rather it was just incredibly basic and lacked substance and flavour. Drinks were also below par; the Aperol Spritz was flat, and the Negroni was just passable. While the salad, peach mozzarella, and gnocco fritto were decent, the overall quality didn’t justify the price. At this price point, places like Osteria Romana or Manteca offer far superior food and drinks. The high overall ratings made us expect much better. Perhaps we picked a bad day, but there should be no exceptions at this price point. It feels like we dined at a completely different restaurant than the one described in the reviews. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.
