Where do I start .. all food was cold . Beef chow mein was literally burned . Salt@pepper prawns were horrific … and soggy overpriced!! And would never recommend this restaurant ever and would never order from here again !! And I would avoid this restaurant 💯 .

I missedc one dishes from my orders when i went home,,pasta over cooked,sweet and sour chicken water taste.i iodered 4 times 2 times was horrible the food.No mote again.

As a Chinese, I can say the clay pot dish in this restaurant is very authentic! Highly recommend braised beef and aubergine one. I think this restaurant have recently redecorate very nice.

Food was tasteless and over priced

Absolutely delicious meal that was reminiscent of our time living in South East Asia. We had the Hainanese Chicken Rice, which was a special that had to be preordered with the restaurant in advance. The chicken was very fresh and cooked skilfully - the meat was juicy and tender whilst the skin was springy (those in the know will appreciate the technique required to get this right). Furthermore, the accompanying chilli sauce, which is vital to this dish, hits the right balance of piquant from the chilli and the sourness from the citrus, backed up by a knockout flavour bomb of a punch of minced garlic. The other dishes were also very tasty with special mention for the aubergine hotpot - a sizzling medley of oily savoury goodness, which was gladly mopped up with rice even though I was bursting at the seams.

I placed an order to be delivered, which proved quite difficult after repeating the order all of 3 items. They called me back twice from the restaurant and then the driver called me. The delivery took getween 30-40 minutes. I live just under 1 mile away. I looked up the takeaway menu and totalled it to £21.20. I did query the total when the restaurant calked me back informing me it was £24.70. The lady on the phone said you need to check the takeaway menu, so I automatically thought it was my fault. After the food arrived I looked at the receipt £24.70. I decided to go back online and check, and there were two menus one Al a Carte and a takeaway menu so most people would think that the Al a Carte is for eating in the restaurant and the takeaway for delivery and takeaway. Watch out for this as I was charged from the Al a Carte menu. I found the food delivered was hot and good portions. The Singapore veggie noodles were very fiery but delicious, the crispy chilli beef was quite hot not very much sweetness, the chicken satay on sticks, the chicken was cooked well but tasted a bit spicy along with the satay sauce which I didn't like. The satay sauce was a little too runny for my liking. It all tasted the same unfortunately.

Ordered a takeaway for collection. Really fast service and delicious hot food. Recommend the duck and chicken balls.

Came here on New Years Eve. Service and food very good. Only complaint is that they slipped a discretionary 10% tip on the bill. When I gave them £5 tip the waiter said thank you very much. Only when I got home I saw from the bill that a 10% tip had already been charged. Although this service charge is not compulsory and you can have it taken off, I do think it is a little bit of a liberty, especially when they happily accepted a cash tip.

Lovely Chinese well worth a visit

Me and a group of friends went to the restaurant on a Saturday night and the food was bad it was dry and the drinks was well overpriced. We will not be going there again. Say away

Delicious. I have lived in Romford for 3 years and never ordered from here before. The service is amazing and the food very fresh. I just ordered a delivery chicken rice noodles and egg fried rice, it was here with the food still hot within 30 minutes. I will be ordering from here again, thank you :-)

Came here the second time after 8 years and could not be more happy with the food. We ordered Beef Hor Fun, Wonton noodles and Fried rice with mushroom. All 3 dishes were in big portion (may be it's big for me as I'm Asian) and so tasty! The beef was tender, wontons were big ones and the soup was so nice. Asked for chili oil (which is legit spicy and smell good) and there was no extra charge. The waiter was very kind and polite, always said Thank you whenever we interacted with him. I must say it's a decent price for that size of every dish. Overall, a nice dining here. Would definitely visit them next time!

A relatively new Chinese-cantonese restaurant to Romford, the owners informed us that they moved from China town Soho to open here. This is evident in the selection of food available. I have struggled to find a restaurant in the area that offers vegetables such as 'kai lan' which is a Chinese type of broccoli that has a spinach iron taste to it outside of central London. Yet it is available on the menu here. If you prefer the styles of food that is served in London Chinatown over the more westernized chinese food that you will find in an average Chinese or oriental takeaway in the area, then the Empire is worth a check in. Just be aware that at the time of writing they have a split opening times with a break between lunch and dinner sittings. For the location, while Victoria road is well placed next to the station, the restaurant is situated a fair distance towards the ring road so is easy to miss. There were a few car parking spaces directly outside, but unless you are lucky you will probably use the car park attached to lidl near the station if you are driving.

Most authentic, traditional and tasty sample of Chinese cuisine that I have experienced. Excellent overall! Acceptable prices, nothing more expensive than expected.

I’m Chinese, and you won’t get as authentic as here in Romford. Even a lot more authentic than the restaurants in Chinatown. Highly recommend

It's a decent restaurant offering dishes that rival those in central London - Chinatown. Staff are friendly. There is limited parking depending on the time of day. Would I go again? Possibly. It is a bit expensive.

Very rude waitress, over charged the price, put the extra items in the bill, very old karaoke machine. Never again.

We have dined here many times, however first time since refurbishment and new name. The updated menu was exciting with additional authentic Chinese dishes plus specials for Chinese New year. Roast duck and pork were outstanding. Delicious Sea Bass, special Noodles, stewed oyster hot pot, sweet and sour pork , incredible choices. Sarah was giving great service as always. Wonderful evening.

Used to be the Pear Dragon. Fortunately new owners do same style Hong kong Chinese dishes. Have also added an new small kitchen in front of restaurant for speciality duck and pork dishes much like the restaurants in China Town. Have now included a lot of traditional dishes to the menu so everyone can enjoy these

Renamed with new chef and traditional menu. Lots of roast pork and duck options along with our favourite hot pots and hofun. Lovely dinner with friendly service.

A newly open chinese restaurant in Romford, lovely chef and waiting staff. Roast duck, BBQ pork and crispy pork were so so delicious- very authentic Hong Kong cuisine. I hope this newbie restaurant will be better than more People discovered it!

Was here dining in on a Friday night. Food was great and the staff was so friendly! She even gave us some crab balls on the house. All the food was fresh and came hot, restaurant was clean too. Best experience definitely best Chinese in the area. Definitely coming again. Hope they get more in diners, much deserved!

Adequate food. Had takeaway which was ready and OK.

Food quality was disappointing. Prawn Crackers were stale and clearly the crispy duck was served from frozen as had to send it back as middle was still cold. Clearly it had been put in a microwave as it simply wasn't crispy. Serious improvement required if it to survive in business.

I have ordered from the Pearl Dragon in Romford twice and have had great service and the food tasted great! The first time ordering I couldn't find the menu so I called and asked if they had what i wanted, the woman on the phone was very patient and friendly. As they take cash on delivery the driver was waiting while i rushed out to get some cash. He was very friendly and didn't mind waiting at all! I've recently moved to the area and have been looking for a good Chinese takeaway since moving. I'm glad i've found The Pearl Dragon, excellent customer service and the food tastes great would highly recommend!

myself and my wife went for dinner yesterday (30.10.20),During lockdown we did not get any good customer service at all from lots of restaurants, the customer service in Pearl dragon was simply amazing .We were served by Gigi and Eva and we had the best experience and the food is fantastic, the restaurant has a lot of space and its very clean .What my suggestion for the owner is to invest on professional website because some one recommended Pearl Dragon to us if not we wouldn't have gone by looking at the Facebook page and the pictures on the website .

First visit to this restaurant last night with family and found the service to be excellent with friendly staff especially Eva our waitress, the ambience very nice and food very tasty would definitely go there again

Sadly this chinese has gone down the pan just like the rest of them. Noodles totally bland and dry. Curry sauce flavourless. Bland bland bland!! Chicken balls were extremely greasey with copious amounts of batter which left my taste buds begging for mercy for a strong mint. All went straight in the bin. Total waste of money however i didn't fancy being up all night hanging over the toilet bowl begging for mercy!!

First time ordering here tonight... as I checked the reviews I thought I give it try... I think the reviews are overrated as this is not the food quality I received today compare to what people have posted. But I was disappointed, because the food was not fresh! Chil salt ribs - lacked flavour Lemon chicken- batter was too old and chewy chicken Satay beef - beef meat was so chewy you cant bite it to eat properly.. we asked for stir fried but got the them on skewers. Ho fun beef dry noodles - Ho fun was not fresh at all properly a week old noodles.. and again beef not fresh. The worst beef ive ever had in chinese takeaway! You get free spring rolls but you have to pay for delivery anyway. Only decent dish was the plain noodles in beansprouts So still on the hunt for a decent chinese takeaway in the area.

Went here for valentines night meal, waited 45 minutes for chips and curry sauce to be brought out, a further 15 minutes for the rice we ordered along with a hideous vegetable dish that was suppose to be the special, was obviously microwaved, not a fresh veg in sight. still no sign of the rest of our meal, the waitress did her best to hurry the kitchen up but from the shouting we could hear in the restaurant the chef wasnt happy with this. We gave up and left in the end, we wasnt the only ones to leave either. Such a shame really as the last time we ate there it was lovely

One of the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been with very reasonable price. Excellent services with a good selection of wines. The Chef was properly trained in HK. With advance notice, you could ask for more or less any Chinese food.

Fulfilled my need of special fried rice at lunchtime (no not pregnant!!!). Also had sweet and sour chicken balls. I walked the 5 mins from restaurant to home, food was still hot when I got home. Food looked and tasted good. I will now make this my main chineese. Staff polite and sought advice over the phone whrn I placed my order for smaller portions. Good value for money.

They have been extremely rude on the telephone and promise to deliver the food within 30 to 45 minutes but it has taken over 1:5 hours and is cold.

Loved this place, we ordered the other night when was snowing. The lovely lady on the phone said it would be 45-1hr because of weather but arrived in 30 mins and was so tasty! By far the best Chinese we have had since moving to the area a year ago! So pleased that we found Pearl Dragon.
