Mearns Wok in East Renfrewshire

Sauce watery, salt and chilli chips bland with barely any seasoning, no dip with spring rolls which were tasteless

Ribs were dreadful - bbq sauce was burned and salt and chilli chips were tasteless

Im just munching my Singapore Chow Main - which I eat everywhere I can around Glasgow - and I can confirm that it's a very good one. I would eat here again. My recommendation for Singapore Chow Main.

Food was almost 2 hours late and no offer of compensation from restaurant or explanation

Chicken balls wre too hard to eat over cook and the chicken satay was full fat

One of the best foods I’ve had so far and the chilli chips was fantastic. I had forgot to get curry sauce and they went out their way to provide me with a tub complimentary which was fantastic 🙌🏽

Was in last night and food was very poor quality and the porition was very small for the money....Real shame used to like the place....they need to give themselves a shake... I won't be back

Calificar esto es más fácil que comer la comida que recibimos. El chow mein no tenía salsa y el satay simplemente no sabía a satay - ni idea de lo que es. Los fideos estaban quemados y llamamos y nos quejamos. La dueña se volvió loca enojada e insistió en que era chef y gritó tanto abuso en un intento de justificar la comida - De todos modos - se están quedando con nuestro dinero, pero me veo obligado a compartir nuestra experiencia. Es la peor comida china que he probado.

Given into trouble for not spending £15 when there is no minimum spend on just eat

Usually get food from here with no issues but was so disappointed this time . Requested only certain veg in Noodles due to allergies but no adjustment made also noodles really soft and mushy. Salt and pepper chips.. do not pay extra , just small amount of the seasoning and the chips were so pale and undercooked . Last time will order from here which is so annoying as it’s my local .

Paid 50p on collection after having asked for salt & chilli veg spring rolls for them just to be normal. Also £4.20 for 2 mediocre sized spring rolls is shocking! Food was good but portion sizes could be better.

Ordered 6:25, said ready 6:45. Waited in shop from 6:45 -7:25 then found they’d sent my collection order out with driver. Several phone collection orders ready before mine. Got it home and chicken curry missing. food obviously cold, absolute joke

2and a half hours later I went round and collected myself poor young boys serving and delivering with awful management who kept taking orders despite knowing they couldn’t Deliver on time due to staff shortages

Unusually late, but there was clearly a problem which was not communicated to customers. In reality they should have stopped taking orders before they created the situation.

Delivered very quickly but order was wrong. Called the restaurant and explained to the lovely young boy that my main meal was wrong. Owner could be heard screaming and shouting in the background which was alarming. Eventually said it would be delivered correctly but I was made to feel like this was an inconvenience when it was her error. The screaming and shouting continued in the background whilst I spoke to the boy. Was delivered quite quickly but was luke warm

The owner has to be the most argumentive and nasty piece of work to run a fast food establishment. If she's not shouting at the kitchen staff, counter people and drivers, she shouting down the phone at customers who dare to ring up to complain about their order or the food. Avoid this place

so disappointed.. prawn crackers tasted a day old got a munchie box for 8.50 in a small plastic container. undercooked chips 6 small nuggets and 2 wings. £35 for a terrible dinner. chicken balls tasted cheap and frozen and very small I have never reviewed on this and i am not a keyboard warrior but felt the need to review. Will not go back.

The prices are ridiculous but when you pay them you expect to get an actual decent portion. £8.50 for a munchy box you expect the usual small pizza box it came in a small container, about 8 pieces of chicken and the rest chips and 2 wings. Wasn’t happy took the food back. Got a refund. Counter staff were great x

Beef was half cooked and still had flour mixture visible. Salt and chilli chips are just chips with salt on and a few cut up chillies. They are not cooked and prepared as proper salt and chilli chips. I won’t be ordering from here again.

A busy place for food at the weekend, so booking is recommended. Prices are ok, and the food is good. Read the menu carefully and ask if it seems confusing! Service was good too without feeling rushed.

I can't believe how small the portion was, I got chicken satay and there was 4 tiny bites sized bits of chicken, I feel like I was completely scammed NEVER ORDER FROM HERE ! And I am no expert but I have never seen satay sauce this colour before

Worst Chinese food I have had . Chicken balls where disgusting and over fried . Spare ribs where dry and hardly any meat on them . Will not be ordering anything from mearns wok again .

We got a chicken chow mein but the ‘chicken’ was terrible. Rubbery?! Not proper chicken. Won’t be ordering from here again.

really happy, meal for one of my son's end of exams, delivered early, free meal because of cost, all meals really tasty and all 3 sons happy thank you, will definitely order again!

Stale prawn crackers. Chicken balls tasted like prawns. Chips were not cooked properly and the fried rice had been done in the wok for 30 sec max. Will not use again.

Disappointed with the quality of the food. The ‘ribs’ were very dry and overcooked which made the meat that was there very tough. The sweet and sour sauce had a strange taste. The Chicken Chow Mein was just a soggy mess and was uneatable. I’m afraid we won’t be ordering from here again.

Absolutely useless. Ordered from them a good few times now over the past few months. Not once have they got the order correct resulting in me having to make a 2nd trip each time to get the missing food or exchange the incorrect item. Didn't ever receive an apology from them either. Will never be back

Absolutely uncalled for… went in and asked for halal chicken… in the food mixed was ham! DO YOU UNDERSTAND halal?! If you can’t be bothered separating your meats properly then don’t say any of your meat is halal! Learn the meaning of the term… your ignorance just to get a sale isn’t appreciated. You should be reported.

The food from the Mearns Wok is always amazing. We were disappointed when the Just Eat app gave a delivery time of 60-75 mins but the food arrived after 15, which was excellent and very much appreciated! I would highly recommend the Mearns Wok!

Food was terrible . Complete waste of money. Chips hard, prawn crackers stale and main course went in the bin. Never using this place again. Plenty of other options in the area.

Forgot to give driver two items. Have ordered from here many times and has always been nice. This time food tasted different, for how much we spent for the portion size and quality and forgetting half of my dinner as two portions of chicken balls got sent later. Not impressed. Couldn't even eat them when they camd as ate other items already. Not impressed was also cold when arrived. Wont be ordering again from here

Food was slimy and didn’t taste of anything. The chilli chips were not cooked through and were soggy on the outside and hard (uncooked) in the middle. The rice was ok but both main courses and sides were awful

I ordered the beef and vegetable dish and the chicken with spring onion and oyster sauce. The meat was so tender and the food was freshly prepared. Enjoyed it.

Poor from the Mearns Wok who is normally great. Everything wasn't fresh, salt n chilli chips was just salt, chicken breast curry tasted funny and the chicken wings were horrible and gritty.

Had to call restaurant after it was marked as delivered and they admitted they had not even cooked the food yet. Eventually arrived and missing some of the order.

Order was incorrect. I was disappointed to get boiled rice instead of my order of fried rice. I would never order plain boiled rice. It spoiled our enjoyment of the meal👎

Best value for money Chinese takeaway around. Good combination of great food at a reasonable price. I have been using this takeaway for years and the service has been very good. Used them to cater for my 50th birthday party for 30 guests

Sweet & Sour was a bit short on sauce!

Curry was so spicy, it was almost inedible. Left most of it.

Food has normally been good and warm but this delivery the food was cold and had to be heated which I wouldn’t expect as it’s a 5 min drive!

Wrong order when got home, charged for Salt and Chilli chicken wings- got chips! Call ti tell problem, told go come back with chips/ 14 mile round trip. Owner she comes on phone shouting at me. I asked her just to replace next time i’m in and she goes off on one. Poor poor service, won’t be back there!

We foresee the food at 8:30 and it didn’t arrive till 22:17 by the time it eventually come it was cold and dry

Such a strange place I’m calling environmental health and trading standards on these people this place shouldn’t be in business, the owner also lets a 16 year old deal with business matters ? This is the worst food and worst shop ever why do people even order from here ????

Not impressed (not blaming the driver at all) this order was pre ordered for 6.15 25 minutes late no comment. Now I’m not blaming the driver because I’m guessing it’s up to the restaurant to give the driver the right order. We were also missing part of the order. This isn’t the first time the delivery has slow. Pre orders surely should be delivered on time, I know it’s a rough pre order time but nearly half an hour late is getting a bit ridiculous.

This is the worst Chinese I have ever had five stars for that. Greasy curry sauce, smallest portion of chips and the prawn crackers were soft as if they were a week old. Won’t be going back.

Manager is the most unprofessional manager I have ever witnessed in my life shouts at her staff shouts at customers vile little woman . Food is very overpriced the food itself is not up to an edible standard nothing tasted fresh sauces are like jelly I wouldn’t go to this take away and would not recommend to anyone . Never came across such a disrespectful manager towards her staff DO NOT GO HERE

Food was okay and it was delivered on time. Portion size is ridiculous. £7.90 for sweet and sour chicken and it came with 8 bite size chicken balls and didn't even get prawn crackers. Spent £35 and don't really feel satisfied. Can get better value and better tasting takeaways elsewhere. Also avoid the spring rolls it was like the veg inside had went bad.

Food was one of the worst I've had in a while. Spring rolls were disgusting and the Chow Mein was just as bad. Not only that, when the delivery came the driver said I still owed £5 as Just Eat didn't charge me the right price ? Rude

Probably the worst (and certainly not the best value for money) Chinese ive had. Sweet n Sour sauce tub was only just half full (Curry Sauce tub three quarters full. Chicken Balls (and the chicken inside) was as tuff as old boots. Texture was like leather. Chicken Chow Mien - chicken was horrid - big chunk of white, rubbery, tasteless protein. Not pleasant at all and wont be back. Sorry.

I wasn't going to write a review but changed my mind this morning. I ordered and collected two takeaways last night. When I arrived to collect order it was kept under the counter in the main shop - which is always freezing. As soon as I saw the chicken in batter it looked to me as if they had been re-heated because the batter was very dark in colour - not the usual colour. My son's chilli chicken was dry and the noodles and chips cold. Curry sauce was really gloopy and the sweet and sour sauce was an unnatural colour. I phoned and spoke to the owner who I think is called Winnie - what a horrible character she is - when I explained my complaint she pretended not to be able to speak proper English - but the gist of what she was saying was that she had used different flour to make the batter - but told me she would only replace one meal but that I would have to return both meals! - No thank you - I wasn't going to waste time going back to the shop for one replacement meal! We used to go here a lot but then the quality of the dishes started to fall and I stopped going there for a few years. Once Covid was over started going there again despite her dreadful manner towards customers. However, I should have known better when the food was ready within 15 minutes of me placing my order - this was obviously all re-heated food. I wish I had read the reviews for this takeaway before ordering yesterday - she doesn't get one good review! I won't be going there again - the food is definitely not up to the standard is was years ago and given her abysmal attitude towards customers she doesn't deserve to be in business - she certainly shouldn't have any direct dealings with the public. I feel sorry for the staff she has on the desk because all of them are very pleasant girls - its not their fault the food is not good!

We ordered three meals. After collecting the order, when we arrived home, one of the meals wrong and also without the rice. We were asked to take a second trip back to the shop with the wrong dish and pick up the correct one. When we asked about the rice, it turned out it was their error for not writing it down correctly when we ordered in the first place. They told us to then pay again for the rice in addition despite us having to go back to the shop to correct their mistake for not writing it down on our order and also giving us a wrong dinner. There was no apology or offer of good will for their mistake. They were rude and unhelpful, won't be ordering here again.

Ordered at 7 arrived at 9.25 after phoning twice to chase it up. Driver also gave wrong food at the first delivery attempt. Curry sauce had a pool of grease at the top and chips under cooked. Awful experience from start to finish. Was told because I wasn’t in Mearns my order would have to wait.

I ordered the food at 17:15hrs and was given a collection time of 17:40hrs. My husband arrived in plenty of time for collection to be told it wasn’t ready yet - it took until 18:10hrs before the food was actually ready. Whilst I appreciate they were busy they shouldn’t give a 15-20 minute collection time if it’s actually going to take three times as long. The food itself was fine but I was very disappointed in the service.

This order took one hour and 40 mins, which resulted in some of the food being cold. The beef from the beef curry was very chewy. I normally order from here and it’s quick and tastes good but this time was disappointing.

Ordered the same food so many times in the past but this time the portions were half of what we used to get! Spoke to them and they said the plastic containers were bigger! Not so as I still have the containers from previous order. Totally unsatisfactory.

Item missing and when I called the restaurant to tell them not to deliver the curry sauce as our meal would have been called, the owner said she would send someone back to collect the chips that weren’t ordered. Really….by the time they collected chips were freezing. Not great service for something that was there mistake
