We had been travelling all day and we're staying at the Inn. The dinner was hearty and delicious and the breakfast just what was needed before another big day driving. Views over the Loch were beautiful.

We stayed at the hotel and have dinner here. The starters were delicious, crab and mussles. The main courses were steak pie and cheesy mash which was very good, and the small haddock and chips whi h was just ok. I wasnt very impressed after ready the great reviews about the fish and chips on here. If i went again i would go for steak pie. The service was very quick and staff pleasant and helpful. We had no room for desert after the mains. The bar seems more of a dining room set up rather than a cosy bar. There was a band on until 7pm on sunday. Overall a nice experience and we would return

The food we saw looked great so we ordered 2 take-out fish suppers; 1 small and 1 "giant" haddock which weren't cheap at £25 for both but really tasted good.We might eat in another time as it was clearly popular, with good staff and live music. Before the musician appeared some non-rowdy music would've improved the atmos.

Made a quick stop for lunch on the way past as there isn't much choice around the area. I think they know this as its reflected in the prices charged! Food was okay, just standard pub affair. Has some nice views across Loch Lomond in window seats. Pub itself feels cosy but let down by food and cost.

I have ate in the inn on Loch Lomond a few times in the last year and have been very satisfied every time. Each time I have had fish dishes as I had heard they were good. My most recent visit was with an overnight stay. We managed to get a seat with some drinks on a large sofa which was fantastic. We decided to order a starter when sitting here then planned to move onto a table for the main. Our seating area was so comfortable that we ended up staying on the sofas for the main too. Starter wise I had a favourite of mine Cullen skink. Very nice flavour and consistency to the soup. Perfect... For my main I had mussels which came in a huge pot with lots of sauce. They were amazing. I would definitely recommend eating here when traveling round the west of Loch Lomond.

The 2 rating is for the location and that alone! This place used to be wonderful and somewhere we would visit often.Since it was changed to Mister C's it has gone down hill. The food used to be really good, very traditionally chip shop like, which isn't to everyone's taste, but it was a little different to have within the lovely setting of The Inverbeg Inn.The food is of a lesser quality and the service was poor. You no longer have to wait to be seated but there is nothing in the entrance foyer to tell you this so we stood waiting to talk to someone and were ignored by at least 3 staff before having to ask.The food was served quickly, in fact so quickly it arrived before our drinks order. The food used to be fantastic here but they are obviously trying to save money now and cutting corners. The food was ok, nothing special.I used to talk highly of this place but needless to say I am incredibly dissapointed. The setting is however, lovely! The dining room is lovely a cozy and very traditional. Whoever took over this place and renamed the restaurant Mister C's really needs a talking to. It's a terrible name especially for somewhere very traditional and in the heart of Loch Lomond. From the amount of poor reviews on her I wouldn't be surprised if this place changed hands again.

after around 30 years of using the Inverbeg as the regular stop for hospital visits between Oban and Glasgow.. this was bitterly disappointing. Disinterested staff, very poor food, and way over priced. 3 of us ordered and only one meal was edible. One of us could not eat gluten, did not want soup, and avoid potato, so asked for a tuna mayonnaise salad - and got a small pile of chopped dry lettuce with a dollop of tuna mayo - no dressing, no other ingredients. And this they wanted to charge £9. The bruschetta was covered is raw diced onion, with a disappointingly low percentage of small diced tomatoes. This was then slavered in very bitter balsamic dressing.. The service was adequate, but staff were lacksidasical around the room. No one cared that we were not enjoying our meal. Very sadly we will find somewhere else next trip .. and will be spreading the word of caution here .

Sunday lunchtime, a scattering of casual diners at low bar tables, and an empty restaurant area should have been warning enough. The place has a stale unloved atmosphere, the low table was sticky, no attempt made to freshen it for us. The menu did not encourage me, and I quickly chose a "ham salad with hand cut chips" .. I asked if the ham was lean, and I was expecting off the bone. What I got was a toasted dry chabata ham "sandwich" with undressed lettuce and totally tasteless ham, mustard, no other ingredients. this for £ £9+The chips were over fried it was served on a board, no cutlery, no napkin. My husbands soup said "home made basil tomato" perhaps they added the basil? Prices were high, and given the location, would have been acceptable had this been good food and service. On every level, it was an unacceptable experience, with dismissive and poor response from the manager.I do not usually make negative reviews, but tourists should be aware and the management need to deliver.

I have eaten in this restaurant quite a few times over the years.but the standards seem to have slipped. While waiting to be served I noticed one of the serving staff cleaning a table with hygienic fluid without lifting the unused napkins or cutlery. Which the next customer has to use (are staff being trained}.I went to sit at one table and all the chairs were badly stained which is not pleasant when you are coming in to eat.I had the chicken satay starter and for main fish and chips, chicken was good and fish also. My grandson had cullen skink starter not a lot of fish in it (£6.95 for a starter?) for main he had beef fajtas beef was okay but floating in a lot of grease. When I came to use my napkin at the end of the meal I noticed a huge stain on the bottom of it, obviously due to the table cleaning regime. Also noticed on the way out the reception area looked as though a bomb had hit it, papers and cable lying everywhere..The food is overpriced and due to where it is I kind of expect this. These standards are not acceptable, we wont be back

We were on our way to Glasgow airport after a holiday near Loch Ness and only stopped here because we could not spot any other restaurants on the road next to Loch Lomond and did not have time to properly explore. The fact that the place was near empty despite the spectacular view over the Loch, and it's being the peak of peak season, should have told us all we need to know. Well what can I say...I have better scampi from Sainsburys. My partner's jumbo cod was anything but, and undercooked too. Soggy, greasy batter and pink cod! We are both very robust people but had upset tummies later on. The meal? I can't say but it was definitely not worth the sort of prices that even fancy London eateries do not get away with. My wife and I had been regularly making the trip from Glasgow to the Inn on Loch Lomond for years, since we loved it so much, and on Saturday we took a friend along with us. This turned out to be an embarrassing mistake, and one we won't make again. My wife's fish supper arrived a good while before the other two meals, so she had to start while our friend and I waited for our meals. Sadly this was more grease than fish, and the fish itself barely tasted of anything at all, let alone fish. We could hear the table next to us saying exactly the same thing about their fish and chips. When the two other meals - both scampi and chips - arrived we genuinely thought we'd been given childrens portions. A handful of crispy chips, a sprinkling of salad and eight tiny pieces of scampi might be worth £12.95 in some frightening parallel dimension, but not at any restaurant I've ever dined at. If we (generously) assume the chips and salad were worth £1, then each tiny piece of scampi (they were about an inch long) cost us £1.50...Upon asking our server if there any likelihood of getting a few more pieces of scampi, I was told very abruptly "You get eight pieces". The gentleman that we all assumed to be the manager was standing behind the bar, watching this exchange take place. It might have been nice if he offered a better explanation, but I suppose it was obvious he had no interest in our concerns. Almost amusingly (but not), the tartar sauce supplied wasn't even enough to accommodate the paltry amount of scampi.Even though the two plates of scampi arrived some time after the fish and chips, they were finished long before my wife eventually gave up on extracting any taste from her meal, so we requested the bill. When we were asked how everything was, I explained that we were very disappointed in the service, the price and the food, and our served laughed "Ah well, sorry to hear that, thanks for the feedback". The same manager(?) was again within earshot, and made no effort to explain why on earth we'd been charged £12.95 for such tiny servings of (very average) scampi, or why my wife's grease and chips barely tasted of anything. The Inn on Loch Lomond used to be one of our favourite places to eat in Scotland, but we can safely agree that we'll never back. I don't know what's gone wrong.

We stayed here for three nights as a treat but were sorely disappointed all round. No-one ever called us by name ( even after three nights), no-one really spoke to us as we came through the door each day and when our room key timed out ( for the third time in three days) we had to stand there to get even an apology. We ate in only once. Agree with other reviewers-average food and indifferent service except for one delightful blondhaired waitress who carried the place. At one point, after getting to my room and being unable to get in yet again, I told her how much we wanted to like this place, and how we hated to complain, but she was too low down the chain of command to do much about it. The place is tired and dirty ( especially the dining chairs in the restaurant) and reflects the culture of the place. Also, our room had two lights wish needed replacing. It took two days, and then only one of them was fixed. Look further afield for somewhere to eat or stay. Sadly,I cannot recommend this place.

We stopped for lunch and if you suffer from a wheat allergy then there is almost nothing that you can eat. The staff think that a gluten allergy is the same as a wheat allergy which it is not. We were staying two nights in the hotel and on the first night choose to eat in the bar / restaurant. Service was absolutely terrible and we asked for a table for 5 and were sort of shrugged at and told that there wasn't any available. No one seemed to be overall in charge or had any direction amongst the service / bar staff. When we finally got a table we were given menus and ordered. After a long wait our food arrived, two of our party had ordered burgers and when we cut into them they were totally uncooked inside. Needless to say they were sent back. The chips were totally undercooked and tasteless, our drinks order was forgotten about and we were offered another tables drinks order at one stage. The menu is expensively priced and very basic, if you are after fresh vegetables etc look else where. The handcut chips as stated on the menu are clearly out of a freezer bag. When our Burgers did come back I was shocked to see that it was the same burgers and they had just put them back on the grill. Really really not good enough, we were not offered a discount or drink or anything to compensate. Save your money, do not eat here!

We visited for dinner at around 6pm on a bank-holiday Monday night, the bar and the restaurant were both around medium capacity so we had no problem finding a seat. That being said, we had to stand about for a few minutes at the welcome desk before grabbing a staff member and being told just we could just grab a seat.It took about 10 minutes for our menus to arrive to the table, largely due to the fact that there seemed to only be one waiter on duty. This was accompanied with passive but loud complaints from two elderly women who had been sitting double the time and were yet to get their own menus. We had to wait a fair amount of time before ordering, but the time between that and our food arriving was fairly decent for a group of 6. I had the chicken satay starter (incredibly overpriced but the satay was very nice), the steak and ale pie main (very nice, however it came in an overly showy bowl which resulted in me eventually pouring the contents out onto the plate so i could actually cut the pastry. The accompanying vegetables were disappointing) and the sticky toffee pudding desert (Lovely desert, the amount of ice-cream accompanying the pudding was somewhat lacking and had melted quite a fair amount by the time it reached me, but this was not a major issue). The attentiveness of the staff seemed to be a major issue during our visit so i would recommend leaving any typically British mannerisms behind and making sure your presence is known to the staff. If you do that you should have a lovely, if somewhat overpriced, meal.

Visited here before and enjoyed it. On this occasion it went very wrong. We sat outside as we have a dog with us and were pretty much on our own at that time although more people arrived. We went inside to find a menu and gave an order to a member of staff all four of us ordered the fish. We waited over the next 30 minutes and noticed that other guests were being served who had arrived and ordered after us. The waiting staff did know who had ordered what and simply walked around offering the food they carried until they got a volunteer for the order. We saw one table leave having waited in vain for a pot of tea. We chased up the order and received an apology. An order of two fish was being offered around we assumed it was ours so gave these first two potions to the ladies. The waitress came back a minute later and told us these were.not our meals and they were meant for another table. We didn't give up the meals as we had seasoned them. They ladies started to eat and we waited on. A waiter have the dog a bowl of water and some dog biscuits. Nice touch. We complained we still awaited to meals and were asked what we had ordered. Eventually we got served by which time the first two courses delivered had been finished. No system in place obviously. Really disappointing. Nice bits of fish but too greasy. We decided on a day out to Loch Lomond side and planned to end our journey with a dinner in Mr C's. Had a great trip to that point having visited a few other local hotels and watering holes on the way. On arrival the bar/dining area looked good, plenty of seating available so we ordered a drink and sat down to peruse the menu. Having decided what we would have to eat we asked a waitress for a table for two to be advised to sit anywhere so we chose our table and waited for our order to be taken, and we waited, and we waited and then ...... we waited some more and eventually two staff began to clean tables around us so we waited, then we waited some more then we decided to use the toilet (separately of course) then we waited and eventually we could wait no more and left. Do not think I didn't try to attract attention because I did but it was just not working. Nobody spoke a word to us on departure and to be honest it appeared no one was interested. Decided to go for dinner whilst staying at a beautiful cabin in Inverbeg Holiday Park and spotted this restaurant practically across the road. Restaurant was half full when we arrived but were still able to get a table. Menu was ok for our group of 3, which included a 9 year old and a vegetarian. We ordered 2 starters, garlic bread with cheese for my son and the goats cheese and red onion tart for myself (veggie). Garlic bread was "ok but why so much salad" and the tart was acceptable. Pastry was exactly as you would get on a scotch pie, so very thick and heavy. For the mains we ordered haddock & chips (very good), vegetable fajitas (way too spicy, why bother with salsa and sour cream to either spice it up or mild it down when it starts off so spicy already!) and penne pasta bolognaise for my son. He was horrified!! It wasn't penne and had peas through it....my son hates peas and who puts peas in a bolognaise pasta? I was trying to pick the peas out when the waiter came over and I remarked that my son doesn't like peas, but this comment was ignored as the waiter hot footed it out of the dining room! Not one for complaining, we made do, but it was NOT good, except the fish & chips. To add insult to injury, we waited 20 minutes for dessert, which was 3 pieces of cheese and oat cakes and a tub of ice cream! No tip left although if I had to tip I would suggest...don't eat here unless you are only wanting fish & chips as that appears to be the only thing they do well!

I wanted good fish and chips and that's what I got. We saw the fish and chip sign as we passed on the way to our hotel and I'm glad we did. It's a pity we didn't know about this place beforehand because I would have like to have stayed here and sampled the remarkable whisky menu too. The presentation of the fish and chips was a bit fussy on a wooden board with the chips in a mini fryer. Come on folks, it's fish and chips! Fortunately they were very good. My other half tried a fried mars bar. She thought it was an urban legend until now! Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. Overall, very good.

On a recent holiday at Loch Lomond, my husband and I visited The Inn on Loch Lomond for our dinner after a long day sightseeing. We had a very good table overlooking the car park and the Loch beyond and the waiter took our order. However, the order came back incorrect-my husband's was correct but mine was wrong, so had to go back. I had ordered the fish in breadcrumbs but battered fish appeared. Anyway after a wait, my correct order arrived. Mistakes happen I know, however the biggest problem was that we were not informed of what was happening as to timescale for the wait and no apology!! Also when we came to pay- they tried to charge us for mushy peas that I did not receive or want. The meals were well presented , however the batter was too soggy for my husband and I was not fussed with the breadcrumbs. It definitely was not the best fish and chip supper we had ever had!! Disappointing!

We ate here whilst staying at The Lodge on Loch Lommond and it was well worth the 6 mile round trip walk. The menu has a great variety and we loved the haggis, neeps and tatties starter, rack of ribs and hunters chicken. We were a party of 8 and dined here on a Monday night in August, we had tried several other places before this, but none of them could accommodate us. We were seated fairly quickly, the restaurant is fine, but it needs a little TLC, the tables would have been better with cloths on to hide the marks on them. Between us we ordered a variety of dishes, including Fish and Chips, Steak and Ale Pie, Pea Risotto and Cajun Chicken. The food was OK, nothing special just average. We had to try the deep fried mars bar for dessert, which was good! When the bill came, the fact that we wanted to split it between the four couples became a major problem and caused a lot of confusion. This restuarant was OK, nothing special, just average.

The first time after waiting half an hr for the dessert we cancelled it and left. They didnt seem very busy. The second time we sat waiting for the waiter to bring menu for 10 mins. He was happily chatting away to his mates at next table. In the end we had to ask for service! Wouldnt go again.

Decided to give this one another go as we have not been here for quite some time. Plenty of parking spaces on a very hot sunny day and noticed several peopke sitting outside in the sunshine. As we passed, someone was smoking at the table so we went inside to sit.Ordered drinks and found ourselves a table. The barman told us to help ourselves to a menu which was sitting on a unit near the door.Menu appears to have a good choice of food and if you enjoy fried food, the chip shop section may be an option. As it was very hit outside, we wanted fresh salads with fish ir chicken. I was unable to order a chicken ceasar salad as that was unavailable so I settled for brushetta and some sides. My daughter ordered cajun chicken with salad and fries. The meal took 15 minutes to come and was alright. My daughtet didnt eat her salad as it was covered in balsamic dressing and shes not a fan of that. Maybe being given a choice would have suited better. Cajun chicken was well seasoned but very dry. My brushetta was alright but the massive bowl of coleslaw was a waste and not a portion for one. A little attention to presentation woukd be good as this place has enormous potential to be brilliant. Keeping smokers well awzy from dining areas would be too. I will likely give this one another go at some point and will watch reviews and look out for menu changes to suit my taste.

We decided to go in for dinner and enquired if they had any rooms for the night and they had 2, one of which we got for a very reduced rate so it meant I could have a pint instead of continuing home. Room was clean and fuctional if a little small. The en-suite shower room was beautiful and dinner was superb. A little disappointed at breakfast as there was only the full scottish available as a hot option. I would have preferred smoked salmon and scrambled eggs as a lighter option as I was still quite full from the dinner. I did enquire but was told this wasn't available. I would even have paid a small supplement for this. After all it is Mr. C's FISH & Whiskey Restaurant and I had some whiskey.

Ate dinner in the restaurant, as guests at the hotel.I ordered the sea bass which was delicious and my partner had a giant burger. We were both satisfied with the standard of food and service. If weather is inclement or the midges are too much for you(!) there's plenty space inside for indoor dining in a modern, tastefully decorated restaurant area. There is also a bar area for less formal dining. This would be perfectly suitable for a family dinner, romantic meal or just a quick bite to eat as you travel along the banks of Loch Lomond. There's a good space for al fresco dining. Some chairs had cushions, but others didn't so we ended up sharing them round with other diners.

Stopped off for a fish and chip meal last week after fond memories of the delicious fish and chips we had last time. What a shock ! The meal was awful, huge piece of fish that tasted of, well nothing actually , dried up chips and a portion of home made coleslaw, the coleslaw portion could have easily fed 4, not convinced it was homemade. All in all a waste of money, this place had so much potential, will not be back. Shame, as we are local and used to enjoy popping in. Staff could be more attentive !

The place looks tatty from the outside, but when you walk inside it looks nicely decorated and designed. The bar area was popular with families and people enjoying a drink, and there were a few people having dinner in the restaurant area so we joined them and looked at the menu. Having already had a disappointing experience staying at the hotel, we opted for some of the cheapest and safest options on the menu but were disappointed with these too. Service was quick, and the young woman who brought us the meals was polite and nice, however the food was below average. I opted for a burger which was lacking in flavour and accompanied by chips which were greasy and tasteless, my partner opted for fish which was much the same. Disappointing as the surroundings suggest this place could prove so much more.

The Inn on Loch Lomond is the rebranded Inverbeg inn. Still using frozen fish and generally below par produce with little or no provenance. Rebranded to hide the poor reviews built up over the last few years.I tried it again as I was hoping the rebrand would triumphantly herald the beginning of a new business ethos where locally sourced quality ingredients would be the modus operandi, unfortunately the old frozen block haddock and poorly sourced black pudding, sausage etc is still present. Hint- Robertsons of Arddrossan sell great chippy black pudding and sausage. Hint 2- use fresh graded haddock singles. The staff are still un-knowledgeable and are capable of telling the odd mistruth when pressed about the food. All in all I'm not impressed and would say for any foodie it would be best left alone. I also tried the Lodge on Loch Lomond which is owned by the same family and would have to say from great heights in the mid noughties the Lodge is on the slide as well. Could this really be the hotel Bill Clinton stayed in? He sure would feel let down by the lacklustre food and general lack of ambition involved. It is in a great location, with plastercine staff, great local suppliers- such a shame.

Used to stop here most weekends for a drink and sometimes a snack after diving on the west coast or hill walking. Decided to give it a try for a family dinner last weekend. We phoned ahead for a table, arrived on time only to find that we were given a seat in the conservatory. We were the only people in there, it was cold and I immediately complained only to be told someone else had taken our table in the main area. I could understand if we had not phoned ahead. Regardless we decided to stay and ordered food and drinks. Starters came quite quickly and the cullen skink was recommended by all. We ordered some wine and more drinks to go with our main course. Unfortunately the wine arrived when we had almost finished our main course. I would not recommend the steak, that was the worst £20 I've spent on something that was so tough and chewy when I asked for rare. Luckily we had the dog with us so it didn't go to waste. We'd finished our main courses for some time now and there were empty glasses on the table yet no-one had tended to us. I had to go into the bar to try and find someone who could settle the bill. This is the first time I've felt compelled to right a review for a bad dining experience. We could understand if it was a few little things here and there but the whole evening was pretty bad. Won't be back and we've passed the word to our friends.

Restaurant review only – I have not stayed at the hotel.Since this place has become part of the group/company that own Lodge on the Loch, it has become the same as the Lodge, which is, in my view, standardised and characterless. I have been twice in the past 2 months, once for lunch as a couple and once with a group for dinner. In the past, before it was changed, I loved this as a cosy pub with character , now its much been stripped back, the inside doesn’t match the outside, its pretty dull to be honest. Not the kind of place I would want to go and sit for a drink or relaxing meal. The menu is the same for both servings (lunch and dinner), standard starters , chicken wings, bruchettas, soups etc, mains are either chips shop style suppers, or your standard chicken dinners , steaks, steak pies curries etc. A few desserts to choose from (more on that in a bit). £20 for a sirloin though – seems a bit cheeky. My first experience was mediocre lunch as a pit stop on a drive in that direction, but the service was nice as was the wine – although that’s the first time I noticed the heart having been stripped out the place (we used to visit the holiday park a lot so had been in here in the past a few times). The second time wasn’t good at all – large group Saturday night. I had to send the Thai curry back, as it was very gloopy , possibly had a thickener in the sauce and didn’t appear to have any coconut milk used in it (which is why I ordered it as its pretty standard that thai green is made with coconut milk in most places - a safe bet I had thought). It didn’t taste good either the small bite that I had. Essentially £13 for what I could only describe a microwave dinner although I was assured this wasn’t the case. Instead I had the seabass which was fine in itself i.e the fillets were cooked ok, and came with enough mash to feed a family (far too much) and some pretty standard, tastless unseasoned veg. Dessert was Cranachan. Flat pack Cranachan. It was served as a single, skinny slice , like a slice of toast, with 3 raspberries on the side. It must have been stored in the freezer because some of it was still iced. Tasted ok -fair enough on the freezing for saving on prep time but I felt they could have at least served more of it or at least shown a bit of effort and mashed it up in a Sundae glass to show a bit of giving a hoot (felt like something you would get at a function – possible bought in for all the overpriced standard menu weddings they hold across the road). The service was fine, we were a large group and final sitting on a Saturday night and the waiters seen to us all well, but I just got the impression that the kitchen had had enough for the day and just wanted us out – one of the desserts required a fryer and we were told we couldn’t have it because the fryer had been turned off. Some of the food served did look good and the others enjoyed; the black pudding stack and the chip suppers for example – maybe I should have stuck to basics.I won’t be back. I’m not a fan of the Lodge on the Loch either, for all the same reasons – too much of a uniformed approach to everything, no character, cashing in on Loch views and location as main selling point and selling basic stuff with like chicken and steak pie with excessive mark ups by putting Scottish names against them for menus

Stopped in for lunch and the menu is pretty standard although adequate for most tastes, service was reasonable although our table could have done with a more thorough clean than just the standard spray and wipe and we noted another two customers handing back wine glasses due to not being properly cleaned however this was resolved quickly by the staff and very apologetic to say the least. My starter of BBQ ribs was disappointing as it consisted of four ribs [which could have been warmer] with a drizzle of sauce and a total lack of any hint of barbecue and at nearly £7 quite expensive for what you got, to be fair my wife starter was spot on, main course of haddock and chips was excellent, good portion with crispy batter and proper chips, although I feel mushy peas could have accompanied it rather than being an option, my wife's macaroni was very good, decent portion and piping hot, my only other grumble was a can of coke on the drinks menu priced at £3 although when I mentioned this to the waiter he told me I would be charged £1:60 which I was so full marks to him, apart from a few minor grumbles this is a very good place for lunch/dinner, its a no frills decent restaurant with good food and service, many thanks to the staff for good service and for being very helpful.

Myself and Mrs. W. were booked in for two nights at the hotel in which Mr.C’s is located. Having read some recent reviews we were a little concerned, but as we had a long drive, and didn’t fancy heading out that evening, we threw caution to the wind and went for it.Glad we did, couldn’t fault the food, or service. This place is not fine dining, but it is good, honest, hearty food, which is well worth the money. For starters, we both went for haggis, neaps and tatties, with a whisky sauce, well, when in Rome, or Scotland and all that. First time for both of us having haggis, and we are converts.Considering it was a starter, you certainly got a healthy portion. We both like our fish, but coming from Grimsby, and having the best haddock and chips in the world, we thought it wrong to have haddock and chips here. Instead, we opted for the sea bass. No complaints at all, perfectly cooked, and again, a good portion. Neither of us could finish the accompanying potatoes. We had intended to try that other Scottish staple, the deep fried Mars Bar for desert, but we were wiped out following the starter and main. In total, including a bottle of prosecco for the Mrs. and a bottle of sauvignon blanc for myself, the bill came to around £80, which, considering, the majority of that was made up of the wine, we felt was good value.Nice informal dining, in lovely surroundings. I had booked a table for valentines night in the restaurant. We have been a few times now and it has been okay but we knew because it was valentines it would be busy. On arrival we did not have a table allocated to us even though we had booked one, and the man who sat us down was all over the place asking us would you like to sit "here or here or here" surely if you book you have a table "booked" there? once we were seated i took my jacket off and put it on the chair yet the same man sat a couple down next to us and asked if they would like their jackets hung up. Our order was quickly taken but took an hour and 45 minutes to come out to us and it seemed like everyone else had the same problem. Surely if they knew it was going to be so long they could have gone round the tables and said that way people could decide if they wanted to stay or not and there were so many waitress's and waiters working and they were by no means rushed off of their feet! Finally our food came out a fish supper and a haggis supper when the waitress came over she did not ask who was having what, did not apologise for the wait obviously after that wait we had finished our drinks and had no offer of getting us anything else she literally said nothing to us and just walked away. My partner had ordered a starter on the side and if it wasnt for the other waiter who brought it out who also tried to just sit it down and walk away we had to pipe up and ask for some salt! the food was quite dry but edible. We knew it would be busy but that was ridiculous. I have never complained before but think this had to be done as the service and food were appauling!!!! we will not be returning again!

Visited for lunch at the weekend, taken by my mother as she loves the place and has stayed before. Waited 50 minutes on our meal, a tasty but frugal bit of chicken and a burnt burger. I had the burger, and have seriously had better food in Wetherspoons/TGI's, etc. Now, I'm a big fan of burgers and find it hard not to like one, but no care had been taken in its cooking. For £10/12 per-meal, I'd expect at the very minimum for it not to be burnt! The wait was a little confusing for us as there were only 4 other tables and 3 waiting staff. My mother assured me the wait would be worth it, as she really does like and has fond memories of the place, but she was disappointed too - the chicken was not worth the £10/12 it cost. We also asked one staff member for a condiment not on the table, was told they'd be right out with it. 5 minutes later another staff member asked if we were okay, and we asked for the condiment again. 30 minutes later neither had returned, our meals were (half) finished and we asked a third staff member for the bill. On the way out it became apparent that the two disappearing members of staff had been re-tasked and to other sections of the Inn. I don't think this was any of the waiting staff's fault as there seemed to be a management/middle-management figure in distracting them and stretching them, which definitely degraded the service. If my mother is to believed this is a Very Good/ Excellent place to stay, but it is assuredly not worth the stop for a meal. The food is at least double the price it should be, and customers are forgotten amidst the hubbub of their management's overstretching of the pleasant staff. If you're looking for good food, might be better off with a take-away. A lot faster, better cooked.

The restaurant is in a beautiful location but unfortunately we were extremely disappointed by the quality of the service and indeed the food. The restaurant itself is nicely fitted out and clean. When we visited today it was a Saturday around lunchtime and the restaurant appeared to be surprisingly busy with large family groups. The delivery of food from the kitchen was extremely slow and it was clear that the restaurant was grossly understaffed particularly in the kitchen . TTey were not coping. After waiting 50 minutes to be served with food we asked when we might expect our food to arrive. We were told it would be plated up in the next five minutes. When the food did arrive there ws plenty of it but my fish and chips was extremely greasy and my wife's haggis neaps and potatos was cold to the point we almost asked for it to be returned to the kitchen for re-heating. I wouldn't mind paying over the odds for a bar lunch but not where the quality of food and service is as poor as this. I'm afraid we will not be returning

Visited this place for a late lunch and wished I hadn't. What a let down and embarassment to tourism in the Loch Lomond area. Problem starts at the entrance, no one to greet or offer seating, two young lads at the bar who made no effort at welcoming. Ordered diluting orange - none avaialable, no mashed potatoes for the haggis, oh, you can have frozen chips instead. Nearly £18 for fish and chips - again, frozen variety. Young server spilled the hot chocolate my grandson ordered and just shrugged his shoulders instead of sorting it out. Tables sticky and steps leading up to the gents toilet, crying out for a clean and fresh paint. For an establishment such as this in a prime location, should be a quality place to visit. Surely, the owner or manager can see what's required. Will be a long time before I visit again - if ever.
