Waited an hour and half for our food. Staff kept making mistakes and wouldn't tell us how long the food would take

Food was good, I would say around 8/10 and very much worth it with the 50% off mains promo. However, the service was apalling. Firstly, it took an awful long time to be served for no apparent reason as I could visibly see waiters just standing around. Secondly, I asked for a coke which they said they didn’t have and the waiter suggested I have pepsi instead. The pepsi arrived and I poured the bottle into my glass. Once I started sipping, I found the taste off so I took a look at the bottle and realised it was pepsi max. I called a waiter over and told him we wanted pepsi so he went and said he will get it. A good 10 minutes passed as I observed him conversing with another colleague clearly not about work. We then made eye contact to which he came to the table and said he forgot and that there was no pepsi. He then gave the opportunity to take the drink off the bill which I took. (he left the drink on our table so i assumed we still could have it and there was a 40 minutes wait for the food so of course i drank it) Then our food arrives and I am given the wrong sauce that I specifically paid for. We alerted the woman who took our order and she said she will bring the correct sauce on the house. She brings the sauce and we ate the food and the food was good. However, the servers checked on us once the entire time and our water was empty for most of the time until we had to ask for a refill. The bill came and we were hesitant to pay service charge due to our experience but leaning towards paying it. However, we see the pepsi was still on the bill and so we told the guy and he said he will take it off. He comes back saying that as we drank the drink, he cant take it off the bill not apologising for the fact on two occasions he said he will take it off the bill. Due to this, we didnt pay service charge. We then went home and took a second look at the receipt only to realise they also charged us the wrong sauce they gave. I called to complain to which the woman who initially took our order and seemed like the manager of the place answered: she first listened to my complaint and tried to tell me i was wrong and that i wasn’t charged but meanwhile she must have looked up the receipt and saw we were wrongly charged. She then said why are we calling when the restaurant is closed- to which I replied why the hell are you answering. Awful service and although the food was decent, the service left us with a sour taste in our mouth. It is disrespectful of these staff to work at an establishment owned by such a prolific chef in Marco Pierre-White. Nothing they can do when they reply to this review other than hold their head up in shame. Owner/ higher up management- please get rid of them.

Not satisfied. We ordered two mocktails and two burgers. We got our burgers and still hadn't gotten our drinks yet. We asked at least 5 times and the answer every time was there is a problem with the bar... finally 10 minutes after our food was finished we finally got our mocktails. Luckily we didn't have to pay for the drinks, but for the 2 burgers together it was 55 euros. This is extremely much!

So very disappointed! I booked a table for 5 for 6.30pm on a Sunday evening. I travelled over an hour to get here as it was Mr whites. My first ever dining experience at a Mr whites was as Leicester Square when it first opened, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Unfortunately this establishment has since closed. So I was eager to try this one. Once I arrived we had to wait at the front desk to be seated, after about 5 minutes we were acknowledged and seated. We then sat there for 10 minutes WITHOUT having any menus to browse through. I then called on a waitress to hand us some menus. Once the menus were given another 15 minutes passed and no one had come to take our order! At this point we were hungry and didn’t bother to wait any longer. We stood up to leave when a waitress came up to us and said I can take your order now I politely declined and left to go to Hotto Potto which is around the corner where it was just as busy and we were seated right away and taken care of. I can’t blame the staff as they were attending to others however, management needs sorting they should employ more staff to be able to keep up with all tables!

We ordered 2 main meals - Roast Rump of lamb and Fish and chips

Food is top tier, the steaks were some of the best I've had. Staff were very friendly and overall I had a very nice experience.

Had a great rib eye steak from the Jan offer. :))) (2020 Review)Went with my mum and dad for the eat out to help out deal which is 3 courses for £10 (note: This offer only applies in August 2020, otherwise the normal price is £20 each) each and boy was it worth it. We were greeted by a very nice person who escorted us to our table. Then he quickly asked what we would like and then gave it to us. For starters, we had crispy whitebait and it was amazing, we don't normally like food with the head and tail of an animal but this time it tasted wonderful and it was the first time we have had something like that. The tartare sauce was a very nice touch too and added flavour to an already great dish. For mains, me and my Dad had some steak which came with very crunchy chips but possibly the best you will ever get anywhere in London. The steak was juicy and we had it medium rare, the added sauce was very nice even if I think they could've given abit more, the tomatoes were amazing and this is coming from someone who despises tomatoes! My mum had a burger and it was massive, the biggest one you will get around here, the chips weren't as good, still very nice but not as good compared to the ones given with the steak. For desserts and my personal favourite, me and my Mum had a billionaire cake and wow, it was the best cake I have ever eaten, I liked how it was so creamy and felt so satisfying to just break off with the spoon, the crunchy 'biscuit' at the bottom was very nice too and it came with a nice orange slice and some good blueberries, and this, again, is coming from someone who does not like blueberries. My Dad had an ice cream and it was quite big although while it was good, it was nothing special. I loved the atmosphere, the retro and old fashioned feel was nice and the sofa's and chair's were also very comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be coming again

Great service from Rayyan and Foyzur! Fish and chips are excellent. We come here for the lovely environment and special deals. This makes it very good value. Atmosphere is also good - not too busy, just the way we like it. Staff are attentive, friendly and responsive. Food overall is well above par but at times, some of the meat dishes can be a bit too chewy and fatty. Overall, a great place to visit when taking advantage of their offers and lunch set menu.

Quite disappointed with this visit - very poor planning by management. Started off with our table being very delayed as they mistakenly gave it to someone else. Then the table we were given was quite cold. Then were told they ran out of fillet steak. After we placed our order, they then told us they can't fulfill it as they ran out of sirloin too. Then they told us they ran out of the drinks we ordered. Our food took ages (over an hour) to come. The kids and pregnant guests were very hungry. The waitors were nice and polite about the whole ordeal but there was no apology by management. It's not my first time here, but have had a ruined dinner.

I turned up with my family after a 45min drive. Got to the reception desk and waited.....and waited....and waited for 9 minutes just for the girl who walked passed me three times to finally acknowledge me. Our first time her. She Asked me if we had a booking to which I replied yes at 7.45pm. She looked at me as though it's my fault that she doesn't have a table however attempted to offer solution by suggesting that we should put 2 round tables together. Seriously? I then suggested that we would be happy to wait. After 15mins we were offered a table. We made our choices then signalled to the same girl to come and take our order. As soon as I gave the first order she interrupted me and told me they didn't have any of the steaks from the main steaks section. What? I had to ask myself am I at a steak restaurant under the name of the exceptional chef Marco Pierre White. This girl had a very bad attitude and the firm definitely needs to improve on their customer service training. She told us we should have arrived earlier. Whats the point of a reservation then? I've made a booking at my convenience not hers. We got up and left. I'm sitting at a different restaurant 30mins later with my family of 6 while I write this. Marco, standards have dropped.

I dined at Mr White's on a busy Sunday and had a mixed experience. I ordered the whitebait as a starter and followed it up with a medium-cooked sirloin steak. The food itself was quite enjoyable—both dishes were well-prepared and flavorful. However, the service left a bit to be desired. It took longer than expected for our orders to arrive, which was a bit of a letdown. Granted, the restaurant was quite busy, but I felt the wait times could have been managed better. Overall, while the food was satisfying, the service did slightly detract from the experience. Hopefully, the restaurant can improve in this area to match the quality of their dishes.

Sirlon Steak is tender nicely cooked on medium, my nephew had Medium Rare Sirloin Steak and my niece had American Burger, chips very crispy I like it they all enjoyed it.

Absolutely shocking experience—both the service and the food. I dined here alone on a business trip, and it took two hours. I was constantly having to flag down the waitstaff. To make matters worse, they handed me a promotional menu and I showed them a drinks voucher before ordering, only for them to inform me when I got my bill that I couldn’t use both offers. I ordered a dessert that had just one piece of fruit in it. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she casually responded, "Oh, I’m not surprised to be honest." When I spoke to the manager about the poor service and disputed the service charge and bill, she was rude and walked away mid-conversation. The food tasted like it had come straight from the freezer—overall, a disappointing experience. I won’t be returning and definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Service was shocking , it was not very busy , we ordered food and drinks , olives arrived quickly followed by our starter before we'd ha chance to eat olives , at this point drinks still hadn't arrived , we finished our starter , still no drinks , we asked a staff member to chase up drinks , after about 40 mins we got a jug of water but not our drinks order , when drinks did arrive only my partners was there and I was informed that what I had ordered ( a Jameson whiskey ) was out of stock . We sat for a while and was asked were we ready for our mains , by this time considerable amount of time had passed since finishing our starter , My Steak when it arrived was Luke warm , the chips were hot n crispy but probably used frozen ones . At the end of the meal got the bill and the discount that was running on mains had not been taken off so had to get the bill adjusted 12.5% service charge for very poor service a joke . All in all would probably been better going to a harvester , not what I would expect from a restaurant associated with a top chef

Very decent steak, was a shame that they didn't have a lot of the sharing options. Garlic prawns aren't anything to rave about, but the beetroot salad and chips paired very well with the steak. Would visit again to try a few of the other sides

The steak was tough and chewy, definitely not worth the price. Even with the 50% discount, the bill came to £30 per person, which was disappointing. The customer service was also lacking—they didn’t ask how the food was, nor did they check if we needed anything else. We didn’t check reviews beforehand. As we were walking past, the restaurant appeared fancy, so we decided to give it a try. Afterward, I saw that several reviews mentioned the steak being tough and chewy. I know my steaks—when they’re overcooked or not given time to rest before serving, they can become tough and chewy. Even fast food chains like Nando’s make an effort to ask how the food is or if you need anything else, which shows good hospitality. At this place, there were only two other tables, and they had already finished their meals, so there was no excuse for the lack of attention. When we were done, the staff didn’t clear the table, leaving the plates and cutlery behind. This made it difficult to enjoy our drinks with the clutter on the table. The lack of attention to these small details really stood out and contributed to the overall negative impression of the restaurant. The whole experience, from the food to the service, was disappointing.

Came as a a party of 2 and ordered both the lamb and chicken roast off the Sunday Roast Menu. Great menu offering, mains, side and desert! Also came with delicious vegetables. Great presentation and taste. Quiet setting and pleasant ambience. Also ordered bottomless mocktails which aren't available in most restaurants so will be going back for that alone! Kind service and we didn't feel rushed at all. 10/10 would recommend this halal spot.

Four of us visited the restaurant on New Year's Eve. The welcome was warm and we were able to get to our table a few minutes early. We were then able to order relatively quickly. Unfortunately, we had to wait ages for our drinks - even though there weren't many guests. 3 of us ordered the same cocktail, but it was prepared in 3 different ways and something was missing. Our water bottles were also forgotten. We then ordered food, for which we also had to wait a very long time. The starter (a salad) was not satisfactory as there was soil in it. When we mentioned this, we were rudely assured that it was mustard. However, we were then given a new salad, which was then without the "mustard". When the main courses arrived, they were only lukewarm; the fried tomato slices were left out of one of the steak dishes - another fact that spoilt our stay. The desserts (brownies, pudding) were very tasty and arrived quickly at our table. Towards the end, we had to wait a long time before we were allowed to pay, although there were always enough staff available. We also had the feeling the whole time that we were unwanted. We would have expected more for the prices prevailing in the restaurant. We were really looking forward to visiting this restaurant, but were unfortunately very disappointed.

We came for our work festive lunch. We were all given a personal link to access and place our order before our booking. You can place your whole order or just the mains. Upon arrival on the day the host welcomed us and took us to our table. The atmosphere was very pleasant and warming. The food came out in good timing. The calamari unfortunately did not look great and nor was the taste anything to be wowed by. The steak however was cooked to perfection along with the fries. The peppercorn sauce enhanced the whole dish and was delightful. The sticky toffee pudding is a must. The vanilla ice cream with the pudding was delicious and keeps you wanting more. Overall the experience and service was brilliant and food was of a high standard.

Great Chophouse We went as a group of 15 family member with children. The reception catered for us well and we were sat at our table. The wait Mustafiz and colleagues offered high chair sat us down. When booked die to it being Christmas season we were asked to pre order our meals and any additions were later added. He ordered soft drinks mocktails and raspberry lemonade and and colas, bread and garlic butter was really nice and tasty. Our mains were a mixture of onion soup and calamari. We mains were the various offerings of steak and I had the rack of lamb chops the meat was soft and tender very tasty. The whole experience was very nice the with food and service to match. I had to try the sticky toffee pudding very delicious the toffee was tasty especially with the ice cream You must try this place it is a hidden. Gem of a food restaurant in Whitechapel.

Mr. White's Chop House has always been on my list to visit. So, me and nine other friends decided to go there for our annual outing for a Sunday roast. We sat down and were told there was no lamb or chicken available, and that only beef was on the menu today. We all got ready to order beef from the menu the waiter left. Soon after, another waiter came and said there was no beef, only lamb. Considering we went to a steakhouse to have beef, this was a huge disappointment. The only option we now had was to order the Tomahawk, which was an additional £15 per person. Most of us went ahead and ordered the Tomahawk and called it a day. However, the waiter came back again and said, actually, there was no lamb—we only had beef. So once again, we all changed our orders to beef. After all this back and forth, the waiters came to our table three times to confirm the starters and sides separately, even though there were only three options to choose from anyway. The starters eventually arrived and were okay, followed by a 40-minute wait for the mains, which was the Sunday roast with roast beef. The saving grace would have been the taste of the food. However, the overpowering taste of salt was the predominant flavor here, and I can’t rate it higher than “okay” (5/10). Desserts were pretty good, though. All in all, given the service and the food, I had no choice but to give it a 4/10, which I thought was pretty generous. However, this changed as of this morning... My friend, who doesn’t usually eat steak, gave his meal a 9/10—probably because it was the first steak he’s ever had. Unfortunately, this morning he told us he’s been vomiting and has food poisoning, along with another one of our friends. He’s from a country with poor food hygiene standards, so him getting food poisoning is a big deal after all these years of building resistance. Based on this, my final score is a 2/10.

Poor experience at this restaurant. We went for the Sunday roast and were advised by the waiter that only the beef was available. We then had a waitress take our order and advise that the beef was in fact finished and only the lamb was available so we ordered accordingly. The waitress seemed annoyed by the fact that we were confused about the conflicting information even though the confusion was caused by the restaurant itself. After our orders were taken the waitress returned again to advise she was in fact wrong and only the beef was available rather than the lamb. Truly shocking. This was followed by a 40 minute wait for our food which when it did finally arrive was mediocre at best and over salted. Would not recommend. To top it all off the waiter tried adding the service charge on our bill and again seem disgruntled when I told him to take the service charge off!

The place looked nice and we went on a Monday so can't comment too much on atmosphere as it was empty. Saying that though, we were really the only table there and it took 10-15 minutes to get any service. It was slow, drinks took a while to get to us. The food was relatively bland and I ended up leaving half of my steak and all of me cheesecake.

Not a bad restaurant, very quiet on a saturfay night. The food was decent but it can be improved. The staff on the night were good and helpful. However when I called up before arriving to ask if there was a dress code the person on the phone was very rude asking why we are asking about a dress code. It's a pretty standard question to ask for what is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant.

I stayed at the hotel this restaurant is situated in Food was nice , I had a baked Camembert as a starter which was good , I had the chicken Kiev for my main , my only complaint would be serving the Kiev on a bed of peas makes the bottom of it soggy which is off putting in my opinion. Staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was nice. Drinks selection was good I would eat here again but think I’d have the steak next time I had food envy when I saw the steak being served 😅 Good effort guys !

The location is quite hard to find, the food was lovely and could not fault. However the service was shocking waited 30 mins for drinks as my son ordered a mocktail. The guy who served us was very nice and was his first day. The other servers just ignored us. We like good steak restaurants and it was a shame that the drinks let it down.

It's a nice, relaxed dining room with plenty of different table options. The staff are quietly efficient, friendly and engaging. The food was perfectly fine, although I was expecting something a bit special from a MPW- badged kitchen. The portions were rather small, I thought, unnecessarily so.

18 of us went for dinner here on a Thursday night in October 2024 and sadly the service was very slow (over an hour for the food to arrive on a relatively quiet night) and when it did, some people’s steak requests were wrong and generally the food was underwhelming. Portions were on the small size with the fat chips being the highlight. We were also overcharged £83.00 for service on a Bill of £693.00, therefore ended up paying £780.00. We asked for the service to be removed, but apparently this is automatic on large tables and no refund was offered. Disappointed to say the least with no explanation given. Expected a lot better.

Veramente un bel locale situato dietro la reception dell’hotel New Road di Londra, a Whitechapel, tutto accettabile, si mangia bene anche se il servizio è un po’ lento, noi il locale l’abbiamo trovato seguendo le recensioni di alcuni clienti, il menù è abbastanza vario con prezzi consoni alla capitale inglese. Ma la sorpresa arriva alla fine quando c’è il conto da pagare… Abbiamo chiesto durante la nostra cena tre piccoli cesti di pane, per un totale, se esagero, di tre panini. Sullo scontrino che potrete vedere in foto c’è scritto tre panini per un totale di circa 15 £ più il 12,5% di service Charge che sarebbe l’equivalente della nostra Iva. Praticamente circa 17 £ per tre pezzi di pane.ci siamo sentiti purtroppo dei turisti da spennare, difficilmente do recensioni negative come potete vedere nelle mie precedenti ma a questi atteggiamenti di ristoratori che se ne approfittano, non ci sto! Peccato sarebbe andato tutto bene, però ci siamo sentiti truffati, anche perché ovviamente nel menu non c’era nessuna voce che indicava il pane e il suo prezzo. Sicuramente noi non torneremo mai più in questo ristorante, a voi che leggete questa recensione, pensateci bene prima di ordinare del pane.

Had an amazing evening at MPW Chophouse in Whitechapel! 🥂 The steak was perfectly cooked, the sides were delicious, and the vibe was just right. Sunday roast was just on point 🔥🔥 Marco Pierre White knows how to do it! The staff was super friendly, and they made the evening feel extra special with great recommendations. If you’re in London and craving a great meal in a cozy, classy spot, definitely check this place out!

I had a reservation for 9:45 pm booked through their website and when I arrived there, they said that the kitchen closed at 9:30 Even on google maps it says open till 10pm, and their website let me book for 9:45. It was quite disappointing to see that such a well known restaurant with amazing food has such poor reservation management system. Complete waste of time for me. I have been here before and absolutely love the food, but this was a poor experience.

Great experience at Mr White‘s. The food was very delicious. We were a fairly big group and were placed at a separate room! The downside was that the waiters did not see us regularly meaning that we had to sometimes ask for a water / wine refill. The private room was truly separate but also fairly noisy when you start to speak the volume went up pretty quickly.

Lovely food. Good staff and lovely cocktails. We stayed at the hotel above and attended here for dinner. For starters we both had calamari which was lovely. Then we had the signature steak and chips which was also brilliant. Desert was a chocolate hot brownie, I couldn't finish it, it was so rich. Steak wine and sides were all perfect 👌 staff were great. Atmosphere 4 stars because at one point there was some slightly rouge music that came on. The godfather cocktail was superb and is a new favourite

Fabulous food and drinks lovely young guy served us

I visited this location with my family earlier last month whilst on holiday and I was blown away! The steaks were phenomenal and cooked perfectly, and their chocolate brownie was the perfect ending. Our cocktails were also perfectly made and carefully garnished. Server Ana tied our experience together by being consistently welcoming and answered all of our questions. She notified us of their promotion on feeditback where we could get a free dish for next time but we could not find her name on the list. We will certainly be back!

Recently visited this restaurant, very good food and nice atmosphere. I can especially note the pleasant team, very beautiful girls Ana and Nicoleta, service at the highest level. I highly recommend this place for delicious food and cocktails.

Phenomenally tasty food. I was shaking my head with each bite due to the flavours. Service was not to the standard of the food but the food more than made up for it.

Visit was 5pm on Saturday 20 July. We sat down and waited 10 mins before the waiter came ro take the order. He was friendly and polite. We ordered 2 steals , calamari and 2 mocktails. The calamari arrives but no drinks and we finished eating before the drinks arrived. In total we waited 20 mins for 2 mocktails. They apologised and we were not charged for the drinks. Calamari was amazing. We waited another 20mins for the steals. I ordered rare and was given a medium and my wife ordered medium-well and got well done, so both steaks were overcooked but tasted good. There.were no other customers the place was empty so there was no reason for the bad service.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The service was top-notch, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable meal. Special mention goes to Nicoletta and Anna, who were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Their genuine hospitality made us feel right at home and truly enhanced our dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. I decided to try the MPW burger, and it was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection, the burger was juicy and flavorful, with every bite leaving me wanting more. The hand-cut fries that accompanied the burger were, without a doubt, the best I've ever had – crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, seasoned to perfection. The ambiance of Mr. White's Chophouse is elegant yet comfortable, making it the perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions. The attention to detail in both the food and the service is evident, and it's clear that the team takes great pride in what they do. Overall, I highly recommend Mr. White's Chophouse for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Really good quality steaks and at reasonable prices. Service was great. Foyzur our waiter for the evening made really good recommendations on both meals and drinks, all of which we happily feedback as being exactly what we were hoping for - so his recommendations are spot on! For dessert we ordered the sticky toffee pudding which had a really good balance when all the ice cream, sauce and cake was consumed together. Ambience and atmosphere was really good too. Bonus was they do NHS discount!

Great halal streaks here. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly as I had asked and the sauce was immaculate. Will definitely be coming here again.

Brilliant service and food, Nikki was a brilliant host and had such a great time. Definitely coming back again.

Went for lunch with 6 colleagues. Lovely restaurant - very quiet, only 1 or 2 other tables while we were there. We were there most of the afternoon & not rushed. The food was nice, but the service was terrible. We had to ask for the express lunch menu. The drinks took nearly an hour to arrive - we'd already finished our starters by the time they arrived & then mine was still missing. The waiter promised a discount on the drinks due to the slowness. I had calamari - which was okay, trout which was lovely and chocolate brownie - very rich, but good. We'd asked for individual bills - one of my colleagues paid hers and I then realised that I'd been overcharged - £35 for the 3 course express menu instead of £21.95 & no discount for the slow drink service. As my colleague had already paid her bill which we realised was also incorrect, she asked for a refund, only to be told that they can't refund and she was asked to buy something else for the £5.50 they'd overcharged her! In the end, they deducted her overcharged amount from my bill so I could pay her it! As she'd also not received the discount for her drink, she was also asked to buy something for £1, but eventually given a drink. It literally took an hour to sort the bill in total. There wasn't any real apology or explanation for the overcharging.

Regular here at Mr Whites. The staff here are all soo friendly and welcoming, never fail to deliver service with a smile. Shout out to Nikki who always makes us feel at home. The food is also lovely, best steakhouse in the area.
