Santini Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

Excellent food and good service- but a bizarre experience tonight: we arrived 10 min. early for our 6pm reservation, on a night that the UK was hit by stormy weather : we were refused entry by the hostess, despite our pleas that we were only 10 min early and outside in the wind and rain (she told me us that a few other patrons had been admitted early and there was no space for us ! (half our party were inside!). extremely unhospitable, we won't go back.

Outstanding quality restaurant : food and service were excellent. The evening started with a bizarre experience however when the hostess refused to allow us entry- we arrive at 5.50pm for a 6pm reservation: this was an evening when there were storms in the UK, raining and blowing outside - we were left standing on the pavement! (she informed us that a few other patrons had been let in early and no there was no space for us - some of our party were already inside !).

Hideously expensive - but really sure why! Very noisy. Lots of big round tables. The food was good but not impressively so. Just not sure why it has to be so expensive.

Very expensive disappointment. We were told that the kitchen was closed after our main course.

Good service. Very accommodating. Energetic atmosphere and noise level. Good playlist. Very good food.

Fantastic meal in a great setting. Really sad to hear it closing. Look forward to visiting the new location when that opens.

It is SO sad that Santini is closing. We had a wonderful lunch here and have been coming to Santini for so many years celebrating some wonderful occasions. David

A disappointing, below par experience. We were not welcomed into the restaurant initially but our table was in a pleasant window seat. The menu we felt was overpriced and not as good as we would've hoped. We were also told that the kitchen was closed if we wanted a warm dessert.

I don’t what say honestly the staff they were serving us they made us uncomfortable the whole time , bad service, bad manners , unpleasant Faces miserable , not listening to the order , every time we asked for something they either send someone else to repeat the order or the request not been made . The other thing that I find annoying it’s fine restaurant n such a privilege area though the space to put the cutlery and spare plates was next to the table we couldn’t hear each other from the nice of refilling the plates and cutlery which happened twice during pure meal . We asked the supervisor to cut meat she started doing on the table squeezing herself between the chairs and we asked her not to do it on our table she replied “ where I have ti do it “ with sarcasm smile The two stars I gave only for the food was quick and good But staff and service wise they need a huge boost and change unfortunately I don’t usually rate any bad experiences but they ruined our night

Wonderful attentive friendly service. We needed to go to see Hamilton after supper & kind staff ensured we were able to walk there in good time. Exceptional lamb chops, liver, lobster linguine & zucchini. We enjoyed ourselves hugely.

Stylish and upmarket north Italian food from a highly professional team. Some classics and imaginative dishes delivered with aplomb. A good night out if you enjoy your food and exclusive surroundings. An excellent terrace for the warmer months and great cocktails: Santini has it all!

Recommended by a London friend, Santini exceeded our expectations. The Umami platter was absolutely fantastic, and the lamb chops were delicious. Drink prices were slightly high, but the quality of the food and setting certainly offset that minor complaint.

Amazing food, more on the expensive side, and did look to add a cover charge to the bill?? When queried they were happy to remove, staff were lovely and home made bread is a must!

Four diners and two of our dishes were excellent and almost justified the prices. Two pasta dishes were mediocre and the £77 Sole was good enough in quality but price surprising. Service was excellent and ambience excellent .

Great ambiance, delicious food. Had a terrific evening. Walking distance from where we are staying which was a bonus.

Wonderful ambience and service was excellent, we sat outside on the beautiful patio. The crab pasta and scallops were delicious. However the price of almost $100 per person for dinner with one glass of wine is too much .. perhaps explains why it was almost empty at 7:30p on a Saturday evening.

There are a lot of Italian restaurants in London. Some owened and managed by people who have never seerm Italy . Those are rubbish. That is not the case of Santini but service and even food did not match the quality of some years ago only prices are kept at the same level, on the higher side.

We booked a reservation for dinner and arrived to a busy dining area and thankfully we were able to sit in the lounge area at the bar. It was quieter and you were not sitting on top of the person next to you. That’s just not what we want when going to dinner. The olives on the appetizers were disappointing and not at all what we were expecting from an Italian restaurant. It was a dish of green olives with pits - overpriced. The veal ragu was delicious and the crab linguine. But overall It was a pricey meal in a bar area lounge in very tired looking chairs.

Quería gustarme más este lugar. Nos veíamos tan bien desde el exterior que hicimos una reserva en un reciente viaje de chicas. Sé que Londres es caro. Pero esto era... otra cosa. Tenía la pasta de cangrejo y una bebida - y aunque era muy bueno con el cambio, impuestos, propina y una cesta de pan llegó a... $ 170 canadiense. Qué vergüenza por no darme cuenta de que la cesta de pan era de 9 libras. El plato principal de vieira de mi amigo fue aproximadamente $ 80 canadiense. Un vistazo a la carta de vinos mostró un favorito italiano al doble del precio que pagaríamos en Quebec. El servicio fue... interesante. Pilló al personal poniendo los ojos en algunos de los clientes y pudo oírlos cotillear. En general, no es una buena experiencia gastronómica por precios exorbitantes...

Delightful evening with attentive service and delicious dishes served on a lovely and cozy terrace. Thank you for making my husband’s birthday celebration very special, in particular the tiramisu dessert, what a nice surprise. We’ll see you again during our next trip to London.

Excellent! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was exceptionally tasty, I'm particular the eggplant parmigiana. I'd definitely recommend it and would hope to eat there again.

We were not asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor. We were sat outdoor and it was incredibly windy. There were also bees. Not much they could do about that. Food was ok. Very overpriced. Not worth the price. I asked for the check and the waiter brought the dessert menu. I had to ask for check again. Beautifully decorated but I would not recommend

Muy buen restaurante, se ve muy bien cuando entras. Tuvimos un arranque y una tubería. Burratta para empezar, marisco linguini y carbanara. La comida era agradable y muy agradable, pero no estoy seguro de que valiera la pena el costo. También nos quitaron la carta de vinos dos veces sin comprobar que habíamos terminado con ella. Tenía que devolverlo cada vez. En general un buen restaurante, tal vez el código postal justifique el precio, pero no me fui sintiendo que se lo merecía.

The first impression is so bad. The waiter at the front desk is rude. The food is so disgusting. The price isn’t worth paying. The only thing that I can’t complain with is the nice environment, also waiter who serves us is quite nice.

Dinner on a summer evening on Santini's terrace is a wonderful experience! Excellent northern Italian food, fine wines and stylish clientele make for a great night out. Service is professional and attentive and everything is of the highest quality. Good cocktails and even some refreshing non-alcoholic ones for those who like to keep a clear head. It is a class act!

The place is beautiful. I would have preferred to sit outside, but unfortunately there is no possibility The food is delicious, the eggplant is delicious, the pasta with shrimp is delicious, the calamari is delicious. We ordered Ville Mélaine, unfortunately they forgot it. The restaurant in general is excellent

Not recommended for three reasons: 1- a big black spider was found walking on my father’s shirt and when we told them no one reacted or even changed our table 2- They forget my order and did not even bother to apologize 3- very much overpriced

Loved the patio. Was meeting a friend to catch up before taking the Gatwick Express at Victoria station and this was the perfect spot.

Very delicious, flavorful dishes where each menu item is more tasty than the last. The seating is wonderful, and the service is excellent. The carpaccio is a must-try menu item.

Perfect terrace in summer; food of the highest quality served by attentive and friendly staff who are polished and professional. A mixture of traditional dishes and some house specialities from northern Italy. A real favourite among those in the know and going strong after 40 years under Ms Santini's direction.

The price is too high We ordered zesto and lasagna, and a third dish that we could not classify 😅 because it had no taste and its price was 60 £. Of course, I will post the picture so that you don't get as involved as I do with the request

Honestly don’t know why this restaurant isn’t more known - the artichoke starter is the most incredible thing ever. Crab salad was great. Sitting outside on the terrace is so lovely. Service was excellent in a time when it’s not great at many London restaurants. We had a lovely lunch. Never felt rushed and nothing was too much trouble. It was pretty empty but I imagine it’s busier in the evening. Perfect for a summer evening but indoor decor is also nice. Highly recommended

Estábamos TAN decepcionados con Santini. Solíamos venir aquí antes de tener hijos y decidimos volver con ellos! La comida era buena, pero el restaurante estaba muy deteriorado. El camarero parecía apurado, ligeramente agitado. Nos retroalimentamos al personal, pero no parecían demasiado preocupados. Por £ 60 el plato principal, yo esperaría un mejor mantenimiento interior! Qué pena.

Returning to London after 8 year absence, I had chosen Santini for our family special meal. Long one of my favorite restaurants, it lived up to my memories and was unanimously approved. The food was every bit as good as I had remembered though once again I failed to get paste the pasta. With a party of six, we started with the mixed platter which not exceeded expectations, we were allowed to exchange the anchovies for an additional order of parmigiana. In addition we had to order a Tricolore salad - an absolute must for me. We each ordered a pasta foolishly believing we have room to split a couple second courses but settled for deserts that didn’t disappoint. It was a perfect evening that even a awkward moment caused by an inexperienced waiter became humorous and added to the evening. Best of all, while not inexpensive, it’s a great bargain. Still the restaurant I remembered and still one of my favorites.

OUTSTANDING!!! The restaurant had a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff was attentive, friendly and exceeded our expectations. The menu was very appealing with so many great choices. All the food that we tried was fantastic! I can't wait to recommend this restaurant to my friends and clients heading to London.

El ravioli estaba bueno. El espagueti carbonara era solo promedio, he tenido mucho mejor en restaurantes y por chefs caseros. La tarta de limón con corteza de romero chocolate fue excelente. La comida era muy cara por la calidad de la misma, no me importa pagar por la calidad. Habíamos llegado en un taxi, ya que mi esposa necesita un bastón para caminar. Cuando les pedimos que llamaran a uno cuando nos íbamos dijeron "NO, la estación Victoria está justo al final de la calle, puedes caminar allí". No volveremos aquí y asesoramos al conserje de nuestro hotel, que lo recomendó, sobre este tema. Estaba muy disgustado.

The restaurant is aesthetically beautiful and my family and I have dined here several times in the past. However, we were let down by the bar, my first mixed drink was undrinkable, so I ordered a glass of wine. My dinner companion had a delicious Hugo spritz, but when they wanted to order a second, was informed that would not be possible as they had run out of the ingredients! In fairness, our server offered to take my original, barely touched drink off the bill, without my asking, however when the bill came, the drink charge was still on the bill. When I questioned it, the manager seemed angry, but took it off the bill. The food was not much better. We shared the artichoke appetizer which tasted very nice, but was undercooked and created a challenge to eat. My companion’s pasta was underwhelming. The winner for the evening was the mango, prawn & avocado salad that is listed as a starter, but was generous enough as a main course. I have only written two restaurant reviews in my life, so all I have to say is, Santini, you were such a lovely restaurant, what happened?!?!

All are very nicely done and the service is attentive and professional while not being intrusive. Has a very good terrace for the warmer months and some dishes are designed to be shared. The location is perfect with both inside and outside seating. We were greeted warmly when we entered and shown to our table. The menu is very extensive and everything is freshly made. Service was decent. Definitely would recommend!

Finally found a proper Italian restaurant in London Delicious starters and pasta, nice wine list and great atmosphere!

I had the calf liver which was absolutely delicious. Served on a bed of spinach with a bacon topping and with a side dish of mash, it was full of flavours. My wife had the fried mixed fish which could have done with more prawns but was also very good.

Jedes mal wenn wir in London sind, ist Santini Pflicht! Unbedingt reservieren und die Terasse im Sommer ist ein Traum sowie die Bar, falls es später wird!

Very expensive dinner for two at this neighborhood restaurant. Seems overpriced for the level of quality and items we chose (pasta). The service was attentive and the interiors nice, but for the money, we felt “taken.”

Lovely cute little place very near Grosvenor gardens. Unfortunately not immensely child friendly but it made up in willingness to accommodate us and a big grin by every member of staff

...sadly not impressed - O.K., first the positives. Food very good, wine very good, martini not as dry as ordered although it was "dirty" as ordered. Our experience was not brilliant - let me explain. Welcome so/so. We ordered Apéritifs. My Martini was delivered as "old school" - far too much Vermouth. We also said we can order the food now, so we did. However, we'd only got a third of the way through our drinks when the food arrived along with the wines! O.K. we thought, let's keep the Apéritifs for after the meal and not bother with dessert - they had not asked us when we would like the food brought to the table. The table staff seemed totally disinterested. Thus, we ate well, finished our Apéritifs, paid the bill and then left feeling somewaht "flat" and that we'd been "hurried". Once home I looked at the bill in more detail. We'd been charged a cover charge of £3.00 - but no bread or butter etc. etc. was delivered to our table! We also asked for simple tap water. On looking at the bill we'd been charged £6.50! This is "sharp" practice! Regading ambience, it's quite a "live" accoustic room - no problem with this. However, there was a particulary loud American businessman right over the other side of the room who totally spoilt any feeling of exclusivity...Would I recommend Santini to a friend? Based on this visit a resounding "no". It'a also a touch "pricey". They definitely need to "up their game" to justify the bill at the end. Maybe it was better when Frank Sinatra and Roger Moore dined there decades ago but, personally speaking, there are so many better London restaurants that deliver far more finer and professionally and are not so " wallet heavy" when the final bill arrives...My note to Santini - Pay attention to detail, up your game and provide true value for money...

Staff was great. We showed up 30 minutes before opening and they let us in and served us drinks until the kitchen opened.

Santini has become the favourite restaurant for me and my dining guest. A small hiccough with how my lamb was cooked was immediately and graciously corrected, otherwise absolutely superb food, excellent, friendly, service

On arrival we had to ask if we could hang our coats. Then the lady was confrontational, argumentative and rude about we only had 1.5 hours for our dinner reservation and I told you so… and I should have read so on Open Table. And that she rang to tell me - we never spoke and no voice message received. Just disappointing to arrive to this verging on hostile reception from a front of house person. 1.5 hours was fine but to have this attitude that was slightly aggressive wasn’t a great start to a romantic dinner.. having said this, all the other staff members were lovely and friendly and the food was great.

Wonderful late night dinner. Steps from Clermont Victoria and Victoria tube station. Reasonably priced, attentive service, delicious drinks, and expansive menu choices at varying price points. Nice portion size. Definitely did not leave hungry. See photos Spaghetti carbonara Veal milanese Frosty frog and old fashioned Affogato and tiramisu
