Very well located and pleasant hotel with a rest room available in which we can meet people around a coffee! + Comfortable beds and nice bedding. Building a little noisy since we can hear the neighbors in the rooms next door or the street. The fact remains that when you have spent a day visiting London, it is not difficult to fall asleep soundly and not hear anything. ^^ (And wear earplugs!) Downside regarding the toilets which did not seem to be cleaned during the day. Toilet paper was not added, we had to ask for it. Which is still a shame for the price we pay…

The hotel is very close to St Pancras train station, where the Eurostar arrives, about a 10-minute walk away. There is a self-service laundry just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. We stayed in a triple room for three people, priced at £156 per night. The room was on the second floor, so there weren’t too many stairs to climb. The window was large and faced a quiet alley with no traffic, making it very peaceful. The receptionist at check-in was very friendly and handled the process quickly. He kindly answered all our questions. The reception area offered free coffee, hot water, and tea, and the heating was nice and warm. Although the room is 12 square meters, we were able to open two 28-inch suitcases and still had enough space to walk around comfortably. There was also a shared shower in the stairwell, which was convenient for the three of us sharing one bathroom in the room. Although we had to borrow a hairdryer from the front desk, it wasn’t a hassle at all, and no passport or deposit was required. The front desk provides service 24/7. This hotel deserves 5 stars—I don’t understand why it only has a 3.9 rating on Google.

It is a wonderful and charming hotel, with exquisite customer service. You also have to be realistic, if what you are looking for is technology and modernism, this is not the hotel for you! It is an old hotel, with wooden floors, without an elevator. But it has a wonderful charm, the rooms are clean and the bathrooms are very spacious. It is so central that you fall in love even more with its streets, parks and other services that are very close. As is normal, you can hear some noise but nothing exaggerated and nothing that we are used to unless you come from the mountains. The only drawback I have and it hasn't been a problem for me either.... Is the hot water, it doesn't come out very hot but that is a matter of taste, likewise in my personal opinion it is a hotel to which I will return and I recommend at 100%.

I think it's important to research and read reviews ahead of time so that you know what to expect. I have stayed at this hotel several times. While I wouldn't want to stay for an extended amount of time, it's fine for a few days. £75 per night in Central London with a 5 minute walk to Russell Square station is an excellent value. The staff were all very friendly and are available 24 hours a day. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable, actually better than the higher priced chain hotel I stayed in before coming here. The rooms are small and basic, but this is clearly stated. There is a lot of noise from the street and the walls are thin between rooms, so it might be worth it to ask for a room on the back side of the building. Bring earplugs. The stairs are narrow and uneven (also clearly stated) so if you have big luggage or have mobility issues, this might not be the best place for you unless you can get a ground floor room. The bathrooms are shared for most of the rooms (some en-suite rooms are available), and I never had to wait. They are clean and updated. Water pressure in the shower wasn't great, but the water was plenty hot. I think some of the rooms have TVs, mine didn't, but might want to ask for a room with one if it is important to you.

Our stay at this hotel went well, the hotel is in a great location, close to the metro and buses.. despite everything, we still hear a lot of noise in the rooms. Not very isolated. But honestly for the price and the proximity it didn't bother us that much for 3 nights. The rooms were clean.

The hotel in itself is perfectly fine. But, I payed for two nights, and while I was visiting the city the day after the first night I got kicked out of my room. It was the computer's mistake, and when they saw I payed for two nights they immediately gave me my stuff and the room back. So I don't really mind this misunderstanding. BUT in the process of emptying the room they threw away not only my toothbrush but also empty cans that I stored carefully in the cupboard. I understand that it seems to be trash but they're exclusive to the UK and I intended to keep them as souvenirs (and they were clean). I don't think it's acceptable to throw away anything that the client didn't put in the bin themselves, unless it's very obvious dirty trash. I'm very sad that I lost these cans and it kind of ruins the until-now great experience I had with the hotel.

Were in London for 8 days and had a room with a double bed. Really good for the money, London is expensive. Is very centrally located. The rooms were cleaned every day and the staff was friendly and helpful. Nice room + spacious bathroom. Unfortunately the stairs are a bit steep, but you can manage it :)

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel and everything went well. It was clean, the bed was comfortable etc. The hotel is very well located (subway 5 minutes walk) 20 to 30 minutes walk from many popular sites to visit in London if you want to avoid paying for transport. Regarding the negative opinions that I have seen, I would like to say that it is important to differentiate between England and France, our two countries do not operate in the same way, do not be directly negative. I would like to point out that some rooms are located on the 3rd floors (this was our case) the stairs are quite narrow, the water pressure in the shower was not strong enough for my liking but that is only a detail. We also hear a lot of what is happening outside... However it was not a bad experience it is specified that it is a small reasonable hotel this is what you should expect and yes the price can seem high but London is extremely expensive. The staff were very professional I had difficulty closing the window someone came straight up to help me. I recommend this hotel if you are not too fussy because you know it is only for the night since the rest of the day will be used for sightseeing. :)

I would definitely stay here again! The staff were super friendly and the location was perfect. It was a short walk to a number of museums train/underground stations, bookshops and cafes, around 15 minutes to picadilly circus on the underground and around 10 minutes to London Bridge on the underground. I was able to walk up to Camden and down the canal on my trip. The room was clean and comfortable and I was bit worried about the shared bathroom but it there was never any issues with it and it was always clean and well stocked.

We arrived without a booking hoping for a comfy place to stay for the last leg of our trip, and were immediately accommodated. The artwork, maps and friendly staff make this a unique spot to stay and we loved the lounge. Location is close to train & lots of bookshops and cafes. Simple and reasonably priced :)

Everything was extraordinary from start to finish. The staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. As a total of 4 people, we had a very nice stay at a very affordable price. Although the location of the hotel is quite central, transportation to the center of London was very convenient. Thank you very much for everything, we definitely recommend it.

Location is the biggest reason why we chose this hotel. A lot of cool spots within walking distance. I was traveling with 2 almost-teenagers (younger kids might have been tough here). We had a wonderful experience. Staff was brilliant. Rooms were enough space. The shared restrooms worried me when I booked, but weren’t a problem at all (despite us all being massively jet lagged). Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone.

A no thrills hotel with confortable beds and wonderful water, pressure and temperature in the shower ( even though it’s small). Sent an email ahead and requested the ground floor as I have mobility issues the stairs. Walking distance to coffee and shops as well as Kings Cross and Saint pancreas train stations. Walking distance to the British museum.,10-15. We also walked to the national portrait gallery, which was 30 minutes but a lovely walk. Closest tube is Russell Square. Approx time to the tower of London is 15 minutes and to Camden is 10 to 12. Would stay here again.

I greatly enjoyed my four night stay at St. Athans Hotel in July of 2024, and view it as one of my favorite experiences in London. This is especially remarkable in light of quite reasonable price that I was charged, and it is due to the character of the building, and those who have worked on it. To me, modern hotels all feel the same, but St. Athans has historicity, and one can tell that love has been put into it throughout the years. This is evident through the art found throughout the premises, and via the obvious effort to maximize modern comfort in a rather old building. The result is that I did not feel that my novel experiences in London were put on hiatus every night as I passed through the doors of a building that can now be found anywhere on Earth, but they continued as I spent each night sleeping in a room that had been constructed in a different time and for a different people. In addition, I found the location to be highly desirable, especially for those who are primarily interested in visiting museums while in London. I was able to walk out the front door every day, and made minimal use of any kind of transportation. The British Library and British Museum were both highlights of my trip, and within easy walking distance. But even if you have to go further, the public transportation in London was far more convenient than I am used to, and I never had a problem getting to where I wanted to go. However, it is important that any prospective guest does carefully review whether the building can meet their expectations and purpose. St. Athans is very forthcoming about the limitations of their building, so do visit their website and read up on what they have to say. While none of the following was an issue for me, something might be a deal-breaker for others: My one-bed room was snug, but that was something I actually enjoyed. I did not have a shower or toilet in my room, but I did have a sink, and I showered at night in the joint bathroom, so I never had to wait. The shower was not particularly great in terms of temperature regulation or pressure, but it was fit for purpose. Most importantly, while I am fortunate to have no current physical limitations, my room was on a higher level, and the stairs were narrow and curved, which would have made it nearly inaccessible to people with mobility issues. A big thank you to everyone at St. Athans for being a significant part of a wonderful trip for me!

So the St. Athans is really only intended for overnight stays. The rooms are reduced to the bare essentials and the furniture is already a bit old. However, you have everything you need in the area and it only takes 25 minutes to walk to Piccadilly Circus. London is generally perfectly connected by subway. A metro station is also right outside the door. All I can say about the service is that we were welcomed very nicely.

I was really impressed. The room was small, but was nicely decorated and felt modern. Although it's a shared bathroom, it was a decent size with a good shower. It's more like an 'ensuite' down the hall rather than a hostel style shared bathroom. Great place, will definitely stay here again in future.

We had a pleasant stay at the hotel. We had a room for 5. The bedding was comfortable and the room was clean. It may not be the most luxurious hotel but the rooms and public areas are clean, the staff are very friendly and the location is ideal. Possibility of leaving luggage in a safe place before checking in and after returning the keys. We recommend without hesitation.

It offers an excellent location for a great price, I would recommend it if you just want a place to sleep after a long day of being outside. It has 3 floors, the last one is for the family rooms. There were shared bathrooms, but they were always kept clean, they offer a towel per guest. There are sinks in the rooms. The temperature was nice and warm inside. The hotel desk offered us plug adapters for free too! I would say it is a one star hotel that makes you think it's a mediocre 3 star, then you remember it's a one star and realize how good it is.

TO FLEE !!!!!! We stayed there for 7 days. What to say..... The rooms are dirty, tiny and damp. We can barely move around inside. The overall condition of the hotel is shabby, dirty, cramped and dismal. We have to walk up 4 floors with very small and very steep stairs to get to our room. We hear everything, the neighbors in the rooms, people talking, we have the impression that they are in the same room as us. The bathroom and toilets are shared with the neighbors next door. Rarely seen such a small and dirty bathroom!!! Disgusting... Everything is to be avoided in this hotel. The only positive point is the location which allows you to be next to the metro. The staff are very pleasant and attentive, fortunately they were also kind.

A great option if you want to visit London, near the British Museum and a 30-minute walk from places of interest, very friendly and hospitable treatment. The neighborhood has a multitude of places and necessary services that you need if you are visiting tourism, such as metro and train stations, breakfast and lunch establishments, 24-hour shops... Totally recommended.

Good value for money, comfortable and clean room. WC and shower on the landing maintained very regularly (no trace of other users at any time). We were able to store our suitcases for free after leaving the room until late in the evening. The staff takes care of opening us at any time which ensures security and that just anyone does not enter. Very practical for enjoying a weekend in London on a moderate budget. Thank you so much !

This coffee shop is simply the bottom. When I flew to London from Poland, during a free day on a business trip, I was craving a cup of good coffee, so I visited this establishment, but it turned out to be my biggest mistake. The waiter greeted me in a very negative way, insulting my elegant attire and Polish accent in pronunciation. Then, when I ordered coffee, he brought it to me and then poured it on my jacket. Simply a scandal, if anyone intends to visit this establishment, I advise against it and encourage you to go to “The Fitzrovia Belle,” which is located across the street from this awful cafe.

The coffee was lovely as was the mince pie. My gripe is that I had £5 Costa gift card and I had to give the long number three times to the lady that served me only then to be told that the system wasn’t accepting the gift card which was poor.

I popped in because I live nearby and it looked cosy and inviting from across the road. And sure enough, it is really mellow and nice inside. It was warm, a great start, and I love the decor, it's modern yet welcoming, not sterile. I also really like the three big pot plants, they make such a difference. The lighting and fittings, also extremely pleasing. Friendly, professional staff and excellent coffee, so this is a café I will be returning to soon.

The lamb doner meat is low quality and not even roasted properly, honestly quite disgusting overall. It was full of pieces of bone. Cooked unevenly and some pieces thicker than other. Could not finish my meal. And the £4 portion of chips were darker than the lamb doner.
