Terrible service (slow, inattentive, one or two rude staff), hugely overpriced food for the quality, and £7.50 pints.

We had the most wonderful Christmas lunch in the upstairs restaurant! Stefan and his team were superb! Genuinely the best service I have experienced in ages!! The food was delicious and the drinks flowed all afternoon!!

Totally messed up the order. Everyone finished food and people without as they can’t get order right. Terrible place. Avoid at all costs! Finally food came 30 mins after everyone else on our Christmas lunch had finished Staff at least compensated and were very apologetic. I won’t be back. Ruined our Christmas lunch. Poor show. Won’t be back!

The food was nice and filling (traditional Christmas dinner). One of the waitresses was very helpful and polite. However the waiter was extremely rude, dismissive and got annoyed when one of the drink orders was wrong. He didn't even try to hide his attitude. A shame really.

Did a Christmas lunch here for a large group of people, had a great time. The team including Stefan and Erin were extremely accommodating and made us feel very well looked after. Food is very good and caters for all including vegetarians and vegans. Great experience, will definitely be returning.

I do like the place. Have patroned it for years. Service is always great. But, food prices are very steep. Additionally, on this occasion, they ran out of the only things I would consider (both vegetarian). Had no choice but to go elsewhere

I celebrated my 30th with about 15 people and we had a table upstairs which was amazing. The service, food, ambiance and decoration were all great! The person taking care of us made us feel very welcome and relaxed and everything ran so so smoothly that I didn't even need to think about it! Thank you for making my birthday a special moment!!

Twelve of us had lunch today. A first class service and great food. There is a real "can do" attitude here and an excellent service culture. I only scored atmosphere down a bit as I asked to have the music turned down which they did. I'll be going back as will some of my pals when they are in the area...well done.

Every dish came out to perfection, haddock was battered in a light crust and the lamb rump was highly flavourful and yet tender. Many beers/ciders on tap as well.

Este lugar es una joyita en Marylebone. Contratamos la habitación de arriba para celebrar nuestra boda con alrededor de 22 invitados. El personal (especialmente Alyshia y otro chico que no pillé su nombre) no podía hacer lo suficiente para nosotros. Tanto en la previa como en el día. Seleccionamos comida aparte del menú con la ayuda de Alyshia, que era INCREÍBLE. Cada uno de nuestros huéspedes comentó lo hermosa que era la comida. Hermoso pub, comida impresionante, y personal amable encantador. Muchas gracias por hacer que nuestro almuerzo de bodas sea espectacular

It is opposite the place where we stayed "Henry's Townhouse, Marylebone". The first afternoon we went to order two beers, the treatment was non-existent and not very courteous when we asked if they served outside tables. The Guiness very well drawn, delicious. The second day, they have been "somewhat" more pleasant. We'll see it tomorrow. Of course they don't put anything at all to snack on with the beer. Let's go because it's in front of the hotel and that's it. Both times there were "groups" giving voices. It's annoying. Fortunately they left soon.

Pub opposite our hotel, ideal for a beer of the bracket. Table service non-existent, the guy at the counter was much friendlier on the second day, when we joked about my taste for beer, since my wife was satisfied with the Guinness while I ultimately opted for an honest Asahi, not exactly English. The works currently underway make the road onto which the bar overlooks less busy, I'm not judging the menu since we only drank beer. Normal prices, cash payment not accepted, which is now common in London.

Great food, awful service. I live locally so I had multiple chances to try this pub however every time i face the same problem. One of the female bartenders is incapable of noticing the customer flow so she serves customers without any logical order or serves customers she knows first and ignores that there were other customers before her regulars. At the beginning I thought it just might be an unfortunate mistake or it’s too many customers, however I went today for some food during the day time and while i was waiting to order she first addressed local workers who approached the bar after me. Hopefully the management will do something about it))))

Service is not great - We booked a table but when sat down they hadn't cleaned the table.... we had to ask to have menus..... ask to order/to get the bill (not very attentive at all). Very noisy too - we had to stop talking since we couldn't hear one another across the table.... Burgers were nice/good pub food!!

Wow, the service in this place is a joke. Waiting at the bar for a while and the barman looked us in the eye then went to a group behind us. When we politely exclaimed, He looked at us with absolute disdain as if we were out of order. Stayed for a few overpriced cocktails, went back to order another round, unfortunately with the same bartender, who asked if we wanted to order, saw who we were and immediately went to serve a group behind us, honestly for £15 a cocktail the service isn’t worth it. Felt genuinely shocked, if you’re going to be rude, don’t get a job in hospitality. Power trip.

Visited after BST in Hyde Park. Serving drinks in a plastic pint glasses. They had run out of Disarno and were not able to offer a full measure of Baileys. Disappointed in bar service.

We booked a table for 10 and were delighted with the food and especially the service which was exemplorary. The sausage and mash was a popular choice and deservedly so. The sticky chicken was fabulous and so too were the fish and chips, the chop and also the steak tartare (starter). Above we were served with super care and consideration. Great gastropub, good quality and very tasty food, good quantities also, and tasty wines. What was really excellent was the service, the young Romanian gentlemen that helped us was proactive in finding us a table at a busy time, prompt at every step, incredibly friendly and chatty and helpful and gave good advice and the food and wines. And not extortionate. All in all great value for money. We (group of 5) really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely go again.

Ate 3 meals there in 6 days. Sat outside which was better than inside if there wasn't a smoker at the next table. Service was sporadic but it was probably because of being outside. A very nice menu and the food for the most part was well prepared. Nice wine selection.

First time in here, though I walk by very frequently. All the tables outside are busy, being a little bit sunny Friday afternoon. Enjoying our drinks ( a pint of Peroni no head and Coke Service is good

Loud and disrespectful of neighbours, even after closing hours in the evening. Also, on Sunday mornings early, loud music while doing their painting or other works: if you want to move in the neighbourhood, you should know …

Came here for a Sunday roast with my family and we have been once again very satisfied overall. The waiter was very kind, friendly and professional. Food was really good and the location (particularly the room upstairs) is nice and cozy. Highly recommend it. I have been here 4 times already and never disappointed

The Portman is a great gastropub: exemplified by a fairly small menu but all looking rather appealing and a decent wine list. I went for the Windsor Park fallow venison with pearl barley, creamed celeriac and blackberry. Yum. I was served by Stefan who was super welcoming and accommodating. If you are ever knocking around Marble Arch and fancy something other than falafel on Edgeware Road, take a few short steps along Upper Berkely Street and call in to this lovely watering hole for a cold beer or a substantial meal and everything in between.

Good food but a bit pricey. Also there could be more vegetables with the roast. Only 1 carrot per person and kale cabbage not so nice (hard bits)

The extremely friendly staff aside, along with the phenomenal service and attentiveness. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BURGER!!!!! If you are a meat lover (like me) this burger is an EXPERIENCE! one that i loved, one that i have to share.

Classic 5 star experience. We came there without a reservation for lunch on a Sunday. Got a table on the first floor which is just lovely! Orders different samplers and the fish and chips. All was delicious, especially the lamb croquette and the fish! Service was great, check was reasonable. A great experience, can recommend this without any doubt. Enjoy!

Lovely pub, shame about the food. Good service (although no-one asked us how our food was). I ordered the fish and chips for main, fish was not good at all. It was an overcooked piece of batter with practically no fish inside. Chips were ok. Crumble was dry and floury.

For me it's the best fish and chips in London and it's a city I've been visiting for 6 years. And what’s more, the very cozy decor is really cool. (And what’s more, there are French people on the team. 😊) PS: they don't just do fish and chips of course. It’s just that I go there for this dish.

I love this chic pub in Marylebone, yes it’s spenny but so are all other places in the area 👀 the sitting area on the first floor is done nicely, great atmosphere. Would recommend for a drink or a Sunday brunch. Both fish&chips and the pie, that we tried were very delicious. We will visit again soon 🍸

We had a large group lunch here on Sunday and everything was great. We'd just run a 10K so were all arriving sporadically and had kids and dogs with us. The team looked after us really well and the food was great. Thank you! :)

The food was very tasty however the size of the portions need to increase for Sunday lunch.

Fish and chips were amazing. Even better service. Offered a bowl of water to our dog and even switched on outdoor heating when they saw we were freezing outdoors.

We visited as a family for Valentine's Day. We liked the ambiance and atmosphere inside, and the fact that they accept pets was also important. We were satisfied with the service and the staff who assisted us. The food was of the quality we expected. However, there was a loud buzz inside, I think because the walls are not covered with a material that absorbs noise. Since we live in that area, we will visit again.

The best Sunday roast I have had in a very long time , accompanied by great wine ( recommended by our waitress) and immaculate service. Great experience!

Came for Saturday lunch with mum just on the off chance. Was a bit hesitant as we’d never eaten here before but the food here exceeded our expectations! Firstly from get the get go, Luke, who served us, displayed the highest level of customer service possible. He was very kind and friendly which is always important when eating out. We had the frigitelli, mushrooms on sourdough and the risotto, which my Italian mum said was “the best risotto I’ve ever had”! Considering we had an all vegetarian meal… VERY impressive. Finally.. the baked Alaska with dark chocolate ice cream was also really, really good.

Friendly staff. Sat near fireplace - overwhelmed by the heat by the end, had to move as felt dizzy. Food tasty but the risotto was cold! The staff kindly brought a fresh plate and amended the bill

Office lunch. Picked because great food - and the food is great but…. seems like the chef has left or was off. Food took ages to arrive. I was told a well done steak would take “longer so we needed to be aware”. I was like what 3 minutes longer? (Yes I know I am a karen). Anyway 2 of us ordered mussels for £15 each. We literally got 6 each as though it was a starter portion. The waitress did agree it was a small portion so ordered some more and we got 6 more mussels between us. It was all so faulty towers. We were offered 10% off the bill but at £93 for a steak - was delicious friend said, pasty risotto, a questionable amount of mussels, 2 glasses of wine and a coke it seemed pricey. I guess I would think twice before going again. (I live locally).

We organised a family re-union at the Portman and it was a great venue for the event. The location is central and the upstairs function room is light and airy. The food was excellent and the team looked after us very well, making a real effort to ensure that event went to smoothly. Highly recommended.

We hosted a drinks reception for my wedding at the Portman and it was faultless! All of the Portman team were so friendly, attentive and the service was all round 5 stars! The canapés were delicious and were enjoyed by all of our guests. I can't recommend the Portman enough for any kind of event (and the Sunday roasts are the best in London!)

Mussels with lemongrass and perfect espresso made a very happy change from usual pub food, beautifully made (And husband delighted with fish and chips). Highly recommended

Sadly didn't get to eat even though we had booked months earlier as the bar staff was unwilling to move someone from our table as we were 13 mins early we would need to wait, not wanting to buy a drink as we wanted wine with our meal we waited and then someone else sat down at our table so we choose to go else where I'm sure the food would have been nice but honestly really dissapointed

Very disappointed-food was ok- our steak was very undercooked-some waitresses were nice but had to insist for table upstairs- toilets dirty and no toilet paper..

The Portman ensured my sisters and I had a great family Christmas reunion. We pre-ordered from the Christmas menu and our delicious lunch was enjoyed by all 22 of us! The service was great and they were both patient and efficient with our noisy group. My thanks to all.

Our Christmas lunch venue.Fabulous staff, very welcoming m, made feel at ease and were very polite, courteous and very professional at the same time. Food was good and so was the ambience with a fantastic playlist to keep us glued till evening from mid-day. Great place to go for a good time !

This was the best food we found in a two week tour across Dublin, Edinburgh, Oxford, and London. Do not miss it.

I made reservations by email and Vanessa was quick to respond to my request for a table for 4 on a Saturday night. Although the bar area of the pub was full, we were quickly seated in the upstairs dining area. This was my second time at The Portman and I ordered ordered fish and chips. If you want hot, crispy, delicious fish with your chips then go to The Portman. So good! End your meal with Sticky Toffee Pudding—yum!

I originally gave this place a 5 star review for our first visit. The service was great, the vibe was relaxed and welcoming and we loved the wood burning stove. However, my wife came back the second night and had a less than stellar experience. It was quite busy on the second night so the waitress sat my wife outside which was fine. However, nobody came to serve her for 15 minutes. When the waitress finally came outside, she helped the other table, looked at my wife and completely ignored her. My wife waited another few minutes before leaving for another place. Not sure what the issue was that night.
