⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had a fantastic experience at The Red Lion in Kings Heath! Went with a friend for Sunday lunch, and it couldn’t have been better. The food was delicious – hearty portions, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Our server, Ade, was outstanding – friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without feeling rushed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed Sunday meal. Highly recommend, and I’ll definitely be back soon!

Booked table new years eve 1945 on line for food drived 9 miles each way as was told food finished at 7 but still let me book a table online for food so disappointment

Decor was good. Nice to have crackers. The beef mostly tasted nice and the dauphinoise was excellent (we had the set Christmas Day menu). Service was good although did feel a bit frantic - it would have felt nice to not feel like we were being rushed to eat up, on to the next course and leave. Starters arrived before we got drinks. Unfortunately the meal overall was of poor quality. The starters were cold (brie), the main was mediocre. Turkey was nice, sides were okay, Yorkshire pud was okay. That said, the biggest let downs were the roast potatoes. They were boiled, very hard almost school dinner potatoes and my guests were really annoyed by this. The beef was gritty with pieces of bone which ruined the otherwise lovely taste and left it almost inedible. Both members of our party with the beef had the same experience. The desserts were okay - cheese was fine, lemon roulade was fine too. The Crumble was nice. The Creme brulee wasn't set though which was unfortunate. We chose the Red Lion for our Christmas Dinner because the Sunday roasts are normally such high quality and it was incredibly disappointing. One of my guests summarised it as 'I'm glad we went out because cooking with two kids under 4 would have been really stressful but not there. The food was awful.' Given the high price of £60 a head and £30 for a child's three course menu which usually would have cost £12 tops and didn't include a drink...we were very unimpressed. What a shame.

We had Christmas dinner which was lovely. The creme brulee was delicious! We had a lovely time.

Had a lovely Christmas meal here this afternoon with the girlfriends family. The staff were SO friendly & efficient. Christmas spirit was high (and I'm sure the staff just wanted to get home to their families too,) but we were served with a smile. Thank you it's a 5☆ from me

We were a party of 5, 3 dishes arrived together then there was quite a delay before the other 2 arrived as they had nearly finished their meals. The salad was fine but my fish and chips were tepid. A little disappointing.

Came for Xmas 3 course meal and the lovely Adrian was amazing! He cleared all the plates and brought our food out too!! Will definitely come again!

Food and service were excellent and staff extremely helpful. The only improvement I can suggest is regarding communication on booking. I asked if dogs were allowed in but got no reply and had to phone 3 times before anyone answered. We were delighted that you are dog friendly and will definitely be returning.

They seem to have a chip on their shoulder when a person is disabled then they’re betting if the person is disabled or not so it might think what type of people they really are. I’ll never go there again anyway that’s for sure.

As a keen pub quiz enthusiast, Thursday nights are a regular. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Although it doesn't mean that we win very often.

As always, we enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere, the care and help given to my elderly parents, the table of our choice, the positive attitude of all staff, the quality of the food and the food service.

First visit here in literally years, I remember it as a noisy pub with live music but now it's more of a family friendly establishment serving better than average pub grub. I had my dog with me and she was made to feel welcome, a water bowl was provided for her. We ordered burgers and soup. The burgers were a good quality but we found the skin on fries to be a bit cold. The soup was ok, nothing special and a bit expensive for the portion size. This was still a good experience and if I'm ever this way again I know where to go.

Had lunch Thurday. Hand carved ham egg and chips were excellent. Steak on ciabetta with mushrooms and pepper corn sauce excellent. My partner doesn't like ciabetta so they swapped for bloomer bread. The service was warn and welcoming. A special thank you to Julie.

Our local pub, always a great atmosphere. All the staff are really friendly, especially Mena Helen who made a great first impression on our family over from Ireland.

We had a lovely meal at the Red Lion. It was a Friday evening and the pub was busy but all the team coped really well. We had Mena and Helen serving us and they were friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed the food it was very tasty and would highly recommended eating there. There is a good choice on the menus for adults and children and dogs are allowed in the bar area.

We found the staff to be friendly and attentive. Food came quickly, was presentable on the plate, tasty and value for money. The environment was clean and didn’t have any music blasting which meant you could have a good conversation with your companions.

What a great pub this is. Went on Thursday night for the best quiz in Kings Heath. Great staff, great food, great beer, real ales and fantastic atmosphere. Very busy on Thursday's but staff go above and beyond to make it a good experience. Would i go again. Wouldnt miss it !!!

Been drinking in this pub for years as it’s my local , only walking distance away from my house. I’m never disappointed when I order a burger because they taste amazing. Always a good pint here even though sometimes when it’s very busy here the staff run out of glasses for certain types of beer and give me the wrong ones. Kerry and her team are always are polite and welcoming.

Oh dear. Something has changed here. Used to be very good. New menu has a few favorites missing and the food itself wasn't great at all. The hot and spicy chicken burger tasted more like vegetable oil and was devoid of any spice or heat. The half chicken with bbq sauce, was a piece of dry chicken, that had skin more like jelly than what was expected to be crispy, with bbq sauce liberally squirted over it. It does appear management has changed since we were there last. Standards have slipped in a number of areas. Couldn't use the salt as it was damp and was totally clogged. Ketchup bottle was greasy with maybe a couple of spoonfuls left in it. Only bought a single paper napkin for 2 of us. Just poor attention to detail in a few areas that probably explains the dip in standards and quality overall. Doesn't seem to be any real pride. Disappointing.

If like myself you use a wheelchair please avoid the exterior is a nightmare to get across the interior isn't any better either the food was excellent as I recall perched sideways through a door some nice ladies swapped seats and could not get chair inside building my son says they forgot add spices to his burger his dad said got chips instead of mash my friend was informed no falafel burgers but are doing her a vegetarian 1 instead so all sorted and fed lucky to have been served 1 chef only well bless him and ty chef my sea bass was beautiful cooked xx

Absolute disgrace!!! got me too work a trial shift because the staff had let them down told me I was successful and to take in my right to work documents it's been nothing short of a farce since I've turned down job opportunities elsewhere as I have been waiting for a start date now 3 weeks later still no clearer to what's going on and when I call to find out they make up excuses promise to return your call after speaking with HR and never do so bare in mind the trial shift was unpaid absolute shambles of a management line I never like leaving bad reviews on company's but I've been messed about and used since day I went for this interview that then turned out to be unpaid trial

Went in for lunch on a lovely sunny so sat outside had something off the lunch/ smaller plates menu. Food was good, came out pretty quick and to the table

Impromptu weekday lunchtime visit for two. We both asked for similar wraps with slight differences, which the bar and kitchen staff listened to and followed with no fuss. Really relaxing lunch.

I loved the new menus as we come here quite a lot, so it was good to have something different. The beef rib was FANTASTIC and makes it worth not just cooking roast beef at home. We had a great meal and the service was good too, even though they were very busy.

This has been my local since moving to kings heath 2 years ago and to be honest, the reason I keep coming back is because the staff are so bloody lovely. Kerry, Chrissy, Ash and April have been nothing but an exceptional - professional and patient but always up for a good laugh. They’ll even and remember what you like and recommend anything they think will tickle your fancy (and they hit the nail on the head every time!) working in hospitality is a rough gig at the best of times and you’re all all doing amazing. You be staff really make this pub what it is - Thanks Team!

Just popped in, had to run to the toilets, with the intention of buying a drink second as I was on my own. Blonde lady behind counter is stuck up and rude and I heard her talking about me so just left

I have been coming to the red lion for a few years now, it’s local to me and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, the staff are always friendly, service is always quick whether it’s for food or for a quick drink after work, keep up the good work Dawn and staff!!

We visit the Red Lion a couple of times a week, Kerry is always a delight and nothing is ever to much trouble. All the staff are always smiling and friendly and make each visit welcoming and entertaining!

Great garden for the hot weather, Kerry April and Dawn are always happy to be of service, good selection of food on the kids menu. Great local pub for locals and more.

Fantastic service every visit, Kerry and April are always smiling and laughing. The team are always working hard even when under pressure. The food is always hot, good garden and dog friendly too!

Frankly speaking，Service was poor . It was our first time to come here. We waited for more than 1 hour and get nothing. Not too much customers at that time . The mgr was cold and we did not feel welcomed and get no apology from her.

Terrible service, bar staff are absolutely not on the ball. After their app failed to work, we placed our order at the bar. Instead of a chicken burger (which was repeated twice), the bartender lady has put through a beef burger. Secondly, our 25% discount didn't work, despite expiring on the 30th of May. Apparently you can't apply it to the fixed menu. Lady at the bar threw in side salad on top of the check for extra £2.80 What if I couldn't have it for religious or medical reasons? For the sake of your own venue, get your act together. Secondly, they took about an hour for each course, extending our stat to 3.5 hours instead of 1-2. Appalling. Fire your bar staff.

Busy place, decent beers, and nice food.

Ordered an avocado and mixed grain salad half the ingredients were missing! No cranberries or butternut squash ...very little amount of grains. Poor waiter was rushed off his feet as short staffed. After coming to Red Lion for many years I was disappointed but will return as feel this was a one off.... hope so anyway.

I come here on the odd occasion. Today we ordered food around 8pm. After asking the lady behind the bar if there was much of a wait on food, she said no. So I assumed this would be 15 mins max, with not that many table’s eating. Fast forward 30+ minutes we’re on the verge of starvation. Desperation was setting in, but being polite and not wanting to cause a scene, we persisted. Finally after what felt like Eons, the waiter arrived only to deliver the news we didn’t want to hear. The chef had been searching high and low for mayonnaise for the coleslaw that accompanied our order. The food arrived after what felt like an eternity (30+ minutes) without a whimper of an apology or emotional intelligence, faced with two malnourished patrons, the waiter was unapologetic. The food was good enough, but I’m disappointed with the slow service. Bar service was high quality. No hard feelings, Red Lion!

Seems to have a regular local clientele...Staff are great but seem short staffed but the ones there were...very roomy.. Family friendly too...

Very disappointed once again,use this pub quite often,,and the attitude of the bar staff when you want to have cup of coffee after 10pm is in this day and age is ridiculous,when the landlady is there ,there’s no problem,but certain members of staff take it on themselves to make it a problem, “ WHATEVER HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE “????
