Fantastic service! Food is usually good but the fish (fish & chips) was a bit overdone today. A nice buzzy atmosphere (but I was very relieved when the shouty table left)

Great Pub. Came in on a quiet day and staff were very welcoming, great conversation. Food was exceptional. On first glance a little pricey but well worth it considering the location and the quality of the food.

Matt and Rob are very positive guys, a great establishment, a very pleasant atmosphere.

Service with Matt was great, he made a nice drink recommendation when my original choice wasn’t available. This was one of the best fish and chips I have had…. Very crisp on the outside, perfectly done on the inside and not soggy in any way.

For our last night in London, we wanted a traditional pub experience for dinner, so booked here based on pictures and reviews. (It was not busy, turned out booking was not necessary). The decor was very nice but it was SO COLD inside I could not truly enjoy myself. Other diners were wearing coats and hats inside - no where near the door - that's how frigid it was. Food was pretty good, but not outstanding. If you're not going to heat the pub, a working fireplace would be a great addition!

We were visiting the Marleybone theatre, which is a five minute walk away and stopped for a meal after. The staff were really helpful and found us a table, in the really busy restaurant. The food was great and was served quickly by the friendly staff. Thank you Shannon for a lovely evening.

We booked dinner for December 31st. Absolutely friendly staff. They make you feel pretty good. Lil is a sweetheart of a person. He helped us with the choice of food, with the traditions there that night and he showed us the fireworks on TV because we couldn't go see them. Totally recommended place and Lil is the best😍

Also a great pub with a special flare near Regent’s Park. We just grabbed a beer and enjoyed the music while watching people moving to the Sherlock Holmes museum. I will definitely come back soon.

A warm place where we were welcomed with kindness and served quickly. Besides the overcooked bacon, I ate the chorizo, the camembert bread and a cheese burger and I enjoyed it! If you are looking for a place with friendly service and a typical pub atmosphere, this is the right place.

I went there because it was close to my accommodation, the waiter was friendly and the beer was delicious!!! pale ale is really the best. Fish and chips are also delicious. Since it was a Thursday night, everyone had reserved seats, but they said there was some time left until the reservations arrived, so they said we could eat and go if it was okay by then! Ultimate flexibility. Thanks to you, I had a great last night in London.

We visited Sherlock Holmes Museum which was next to The Volunteer. We made a reservation as the place is very popular. As a tourist, we wanted to try authentic British food, and so we tried Scotch Egg, Yorkshire Pudding, Fish & Chips, Sunday Roast and Falafel. The restaurant is very particular about allergen so do let them know so that they can prepare your food accordingly. Only drawback is that the toilet is on the 2nd floor. If travelling with elderly, this can be inconvenient and difficult for them to climb the narrow steps & down. Must try when you are around the Baker Street area!

Really awesome bar near Regent's Park and Sherlock Holmes Museum. Didn't go to either but the central location and vibe are terrific. Matt was the best waiter I've ever had in my life. Highly recommend!

Went here for Christmas Dinner! Very tasty, lacking in gravy, slight mishap with the custard. The waitresses Mara, Dani and Elizabeth were great and very attentive.

Typical English pub, always very crowded and therefore difficult to find a seat. Very kind and helpful waitresses. The food is excellent at low prices. Guinness is very good.

Tipico Pub inglese, sempre molto affollato e quindi difficile trovare posto da sedere. Cameriere molto gentili e disponibili. Il cibo è ottimo a prezzi contenuti. Buonissima la Guinnes.

Had early dinner with my family when we just arrived from the US. It’s a great pub with a welcoming atmosphere. Elizabeth took good care of us.

£8.65 a pint was quite the surprise from when I last visited! One of my favourite pubs around Baker Street for a pint but that stung.

The team at the Volunteer led by Mara made our Christmas dinner event a special one. We were greeted warmly with a couple of bar tables reserved for pre drinks which allowed us to be all together. When we moved into the dining area the table was nicely set up and had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The food choices catered for all of the teams taste. We were a party of 14 which didnt seem to phase the kitchen team. All food courses came out together. The quality was exceptionally good and value for money. Highly recommend

Como grupo de 7 , teniendo bebidas calientes solamente (no comida) nos llevaron a una pequeña mesa ya que las cabinas y otras mesas estaban siendo 'reservadas' para los comensales. . . aunque el pub estaba vacío en el momento en que llegamos (es decir, éramos los únicos clientes a las 12 . 20 pm). El personal también se olvidó de una de nuestras bebidas. Además, el chocolate caliente era diminuto y principalmente espuma... no vale la pena el precio. No volverá. . . hay mejores opciones en Baker Street.

I personally know the Chef Sagar. Was his recommendation. Love the ambience. Great part of the location (easy access and away from the bustle). The service was really great. Smiley, friendly face

Just an excellent pub. The food and service is very good, even on a busy evening. The seabass with potatoes, chorizo and veloute was lovely.

This is the 3rd time our lunch club have visited The Volunteer and today was by far the busiest occasion. However, the high quality food came out quickly, the service was smooth and friendly and for a central London pub the prices aren’t too scary. 7 of us had 2 courses plus a couple of baked Camembert to share at the start. Sensible portion sizes plus a couple of V options. What’s not to like.

We ordered on Uber eat, took them 1hour before starting to prepare the order. If the food was good could be ok but not even. cauliflower crispy were good, but falafel burger was disgusting, load of disgusting industrial sauce, not worked at all and fries were not even salty. Super expensive for what it is, even mc Donald taste better

Can't comment on the food etc as unfortunately we had to postpone our planned lunch. There was an unexpected water outage in the area ( burst water main) so they had to close the kitchen. Very polite and apologetic service.

Dani and Mara were great! Pub was a bit loud but the service was great and the food was top notch

We needed a break from the throngs of tourists before hitting 221B Baker Street. This gem of a pub was just sitting there. Good food offers and a wide range of beer on tap. Very attentive staff made us feel welcome from the get go. A bit pricey, but normal for the area. Had the pie and my company had the steak sandwich.

First time coming to London, went to see the Sherlock Holmes museum and thought I conveniently pop in next door to The Volunteer. The roast was brilliant, a nice cosy meal for a Sunday afternoon. The service especially from Sarah was outstanding, went over and above to ensure that my experience there was one that I won’t forget! A pub with a local vibe in a perfect location, highly recommend for those visiting!

Austin was excellent, he was on top of everything and we never waited. He made our experience wonderful.

Classic English pub, not touristy, classic traditional and delicious food. Instead of the usual fish & chips this time we opted for a nice plate of sausages with mashed potatoes and wine sauce, very tasty and warming, accompanied by local beer. To conclude with cakes, apple and plum crumble with a scoop of ice cream and dark chocolate cake. 😋😋Welcoming, friendly and smiling service!👍👍

De camino al Teatro Marylebone, paramos a tomar algo y comer algo. Teníamos Peroni y vino. Las comidas, el pescado con papas fritas y el schnitzel de pollo eran comida de pub promedio. Los baños de los hombres no estaban limpios. El servicio estaba bien.

Everything is full of oil. The cocktails are maximum 100ml. The patotoes are froozed and cooked in tons of oil. Too bad for the atmosphere and the service. Scotch eggs are good.

Austin was that guy didn’t let me anywhere near a fish thank you (im deadly allergic)

Great spot for a drink and a bite. Very cozy, great service (thanks Elisabeth). Plenty of craft beers on the tap, and the halloumi fries are to die for.
