The best restaurants in Braintree East of England

What a fantastic evening hosted by darraline Tasting german wines with fantastic food and firends. Darraline are such good entertainers and hospitality experts everything they provide is theater. Food was FANTASTIC one hell of a spread they put on for sure and totally unexpected. I would highly recommend booking darraline to host your private events you will not be disappointed. Left feeling full content and looking foward to the next one. Thanks guys

Went here again Friday evening. Good ale and good food and good prices. I had the Thai chicken curry and my husband had the liver and bacon. Good potions. We have had the scampi, sausages and the fish and chips. For red meat eaters there are burgers etc. Sunday lunches are legendary. Open Wed to Sat nights and Sunday lunch which is beef or turkey and freshly cooked vegetables. This pub did the wake for my brother in March and the buffet was excellent and enjoyed by all age groups- up to a 97 year old. There is 60s music playing quietly in the background from a juke box. So much nicer than all the gastro pubs. They have their place but we love our local pub.

We went to the Appletree on Saturday evening for our works Xmas Party. Great selection of drinks, the food was lovely and the service was quick, friendly staff and excellent disco. A great time was had by all and we've rebooked for 2025 already.

Sunday afternoon meal with 3 adults,2 children. As I was treated I don't know how much it was. Mostly ordered roast. Generous portions, my fish and chips was great. Catered for gf, df and vegetarian . Clean and cosy 'real' pub. Service timely, friendly and obliging. Definitely recommend

Don't waste your money bad service cold and small portions and you wait a long to for the food aswell which comes out in the wrong order

Food is reasonably good . They appear nice and friendly. However, when you dig behind this place, they are out to convert the weak and vulnerable. They are LGBTQIA friendly. There are no female padtors. A patriarchal dump run by men for men and women are door mats. Don't go there.

What a cracking place! I was on a bit of a Lovejoy filming location road trip ( I'm not into Lovejoy, by the way, I was nominated as designated driver) Anyway stopped at the half moon for a bite to eat... proper home cooked food none of the namby pamby stuff you get in some of the so called boutique pub's proper good honest food 😋 and great service! Thank guys!
