The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in Braintree East of England

Been for a family Christmas dinner for the last two years. Very accommodating for the large number of family we have & the service was great. The food was amazing & portion size for the Christmas dinner was very generous. Would recommend for anyone looking for a good restaurant for a Christmas dinner.

This is my go-to takeaway. Generous portions and super tasty every time. Friendly staff when I go in and efficient delivery when I don't feel like going out. Win win!

Going to Tarka's is a delight. The cakes are delicious, the coffee is excellent, and the sausage rolls are second to none. You are always sure of a welcome.

We had a fairly good dinner but unfortunately my apple caramel pie was heated in microwave so a soggy mess ☹️ common knowledge that if to microwave pastry it will go back to its raw state. I had to return it. What a shame it wasn’t popped in oven for a few minutes. The pub was not that busy early in the evening. We had a child with us who wanted a cracker but was told no they are for Christmas menu only. One child only in pub. This was Christmas Eve. Yes really! BAH HUMBUG. We use this pub frequently as a couple but we were a bit miffed. We still left a tip as it was Christmas.

Huge portions of incredible cakes and especially the scones, good prices and fantastic service

We've visited a couple of times in the last few weeks for Sunday lunch. The family who have taken over are lovely, the service is warm and welcoming and the food is excellent. My husband had Roast beef, I had pork and my son had the kids pork. Vegetables and sides are fresh and thoughtfully cooked, the red cabbage and carrot puree were a nice touch. We also enjoyed some great wine. Son was kept amused with a selection of board games (would I lie to you was the favourite) and chatting to the well behaved dog at the next table over! I'm really looking forward to visiting during the week to see what the menu has to offer then... Watch this space!

Lovely location. But the friendly welcome and serve was outstanding. Great menu choice and light bites specially. Homemade and tasted so nice. We had turkey and stuffing roll with dipping gravy and the sausage rolls. Will be going back.

Popped in for a pint whilst in Rayne. Just the one cask ale, but a really well kept 1555. Spotted the menu and decided on food. Food was delicious, clearly homemade and very reasonably priced. Televisions showing sport were unobtrusive and the staff were polite and friendly. A really nice pub.

Previously this has been our No.1 choice in the Braintree area for more than 10 years. Excellent service, good food and prices, But sadly that all came to an end on our last visit. Service & Food was still good but the portion sizes for a couple of the meals on the Winter Menu were appalling. The Fish Pie is about half the usual size, same for the sausage & bacon pasta and this is in addition to the prices having risen considerably! As much as we would love to return, it just doesn't make economic sense to pay increased prices and come away still hungry (and we are not big eaters!).

Fantastic staff. So friendly and always try to be helpful. Tasty food.Best decaf coffee in town. With oat milk. Yum!!!!

Sat down and ordered. Food good but before finished drinks told that they were shutting straight away. No chance to order cake or another drink. Never told us that when ordered otherwise would have gone somewhere else. No wonder so quiet if that’s how customers treated

We came here as a party of 30+ over £500+ spent on the bar. Very disappointed to feel Like we were a pain and a nuisance to the team, constant eye rolls and tutting Waiting long time for drinks and no smile with service. Good(buffet) was amazing. Server I am referring mainly to I am told is called Rihanna. Our younger ones were in the bar area at 10.15 playing pool to be told this bar is now closing and u can go back next door and order one more drink!! I have spoken to the man who said was in charge and he acknowledged this was out of order. Still can’t help feeling aggrieved at how unwelcome we were made to feel. Even as I write this we are having eye rolls and sighing. Very disappointed for my mother in law who’s 70th it was and she was let down! Not happy at all.

Absolutely disgusting food. I would not recommend attempting to eat here. The chef needs to go back to the drawing board or think about throwing the towel in. Worst food my family and I have had, can’t remember ever eating such terrible food. There is more salt in the food than the Dead Sea, and in kids meals…. Wowza

Top spot just outside of Braintree for drinks. We like to come here for the sports every now and then as we’ve moved out of town but it’s our go to when we’re here. If you’re after a pub with a decent selection of drinks. Good food. Nice locals and a great young landlord who’ll be sure to look after you. This is your place! Great outside in the summer. Cozy in the winter. An authentic pub.
