Mark and mandy were friendly and chatty as were all the staff. Food was nice would be better if there were more choice of veg like normal cabbage and broccoli instead of pickled red cabbage (can't really moan at the moment as only £6 instead of £9.50)

The positive aspects of this review are that the pub is aesthetically pleasing with lovely wood burner in the bar and the staff were all extremely welcoming, attentive and friendly. However, the meal we had was far from exceptional or value for money. In fact our meal was totally disappointing. My wife ordered the “Home made Focaccia with oil and olives. What turned up was no more focaccia than a sliced loaf from the Sunblest factory. The definition of focaccia is: Focaccia (pronounced fo-kah-cha) is a flat bread similar to pizza dough that can be either sweet or savory. In Italy, Liguria is the best known region for focaccia, which is called “classica” in Genoa, a focaccia 1/2 to 1 inch thick, with a light crust and an surface full of indentations that hold oil. As someone who bakes bread, including focaccia, on a regular basis I am sure the bread served was a commercially produced sliced loaf of some sort. I ordered the smoked ham hock and chicken terrine but what turned up was a remarkably bland terrine which tasted of nothing and came with a small slice of toasted bread and a bowl of branston pickle plus some mini pickles. We both ordered the Sirloin steak with mushrooms, tomato and chips which was £28 a portion. What turned up was definitely not worth anywhere near that. Mushrooms was a single small flat mushroom cap on the end of the steak. The tomato just had a cross cut in the top and then grilled to create charring on the top. There were a few fat chips and a few salad leaves. The steaks themselves were mediocre and certainly not of the quality I would expect at £28. For sweet we had a pavlova followed by coffee. The coffee was good! The total bill with three drinks was over £100. I certainly would not recommend this restaurant.
