The best restaurants in Broadland East of England

We ordered a takeaway at 6pm which was due to be collected at 6:30pm. That didn’t happen… We arrived at 6:30pm and they were quick to take our money. No rough estimate of time but we sat down and waited and waited we did. After 45 minutes we found out that someone else had been waiting for an hour already. After an hour we asked if they had a rough time estimate. He replied that it’ll be 5/6 minutes. We carried on waiting with everyone else who had been waiting for 45 minutes also. We then got to an hour and 20 minutes, we requested our money back and said we don’t want food anymore. The main man was reluctant to give us our money and told us it’s coming. The food then arrived and we asked what we are getting in return for waiting an hour and a half, his response…. A bottle of Coke. The food was delicious but waiting an hour and a half for it and getting laughed at and getting told you’re moody from a worker when you’re asking how long it’s going to be isn’t great.

We are staying nearby and booked this pub for evening meal last night and tonight. We then read the reviews and were worried. We didn’t need to worry about. The land lady was very polite and friendly. Had a lovely chat with her. The food was absolutely amazing and we couldn’t fault anything. The price was very good for the portion size and quality of the food. We would definitely visit again. They take card payments as well.

La he comido varias veces por la noche cuando me hospedo por negocios en el hotel. Los tiempos de espera son generalmente largos y la comida bastante normal. Los entrantes son particularmente decepcionantes. Una apuesta segura es el filete de solomillo. Evitaría la mayoría de las otras opciones. La mayoría de las visitas comienzan con una disculpa por lo que no está en el menú esta noche. Como digo, quédate con el bistec y ve a otro lugar si te quedas más de una noche. Buena suerte píos!

There is plenty of competition in Aylsham for good bread, rolls and cakes but this is still our go to bakers. The quality and value is excellent and the staff are always very helpful ( happy to put rolls aside for me to collect later). I would recommend the cheese straws and rolls but the cakes are delicious too.

Everything was great till we were about to go my wife visited the toilets which were absolutely disgusting were told by a staff member they were the old ones as they couldn't do everything this doesn't mean they should be dirty wont be going back in a hurry

Now called the Water’s Edge, we had a great evening here on the Saturday over the August bank holiday weekend. Really friendly and relaxed owners who made us feel very welcome and a great atmosphere. It was the most fun night we had on our weekend boating holiday!

Absolutely awful service. Ordered my food to be delivered. Was told 45 minutes to an hour and a half for delivery. What? My order arrived one hour and forty minutes later, cold, soggy, and without apology. After a couple of mouthfuls I threw it in the bin. This place used to be top notch but not any more.

Yes the place needs some TLC, or a bulldozer!, so no need to dress up but wow the steaks are good, no steak knives needed here the meats that good. Try it.

Phoned here a few days previous to inform them we would be visiting as a large party for Sunday breakfast. On arrival the restaurant was quiet, and a table was ready for us- lovely we thought! We sat for a while before what we thought was a waitress came over to take our tea and coffee orders. Turns out what we thought was the waitress was only the cleaner there! Never the less she was a helpful lady. After another short while another lady came over to take our breakfast orders. Instead of ordering what we all wanted, we were told what we were having by them!! The waitress said we will order you all the same breakfasts and you can swap about what you all do and don't want between you (how unprofessional!!) Turns out that lady taking the orders was only the book keeper there! No qualified or professional staff around. No management available. After an hour and a half of waiting we finally received our 10 breakfasts!! If it wasn't for a birthday party we wouldn't have waited and walked out. The bookkeeper served our breakfasts. She served the table in a weird way by doing all the back wall first. The food was hot but extremely greasy and the toast well it wasn't toast it was warm bread. You could tell the breakfasts were microwaved by the way they came out and the temperature they were. Who knows if there was even a qualified chef in that morning!!- probably not!! The cleaner came over to apologise for the wait- lovely of her but really not her fault. Turns out she should of left off much earlier but couldn't because of there staffing issues. We had no offer of filling up our tea and coffee. No one came to see if our breakfasts were okay. We sat there that long waiting that towards the end of our breakfasts the lunchtime staff were then coming in!! We went to pay and the book keeper sorted our bill out, she was stood at the bar working it all out using arithmetic maths!! I thought she had overcharged us but didn't make a fuss then due to it being a birthday party and not making to scene. When I got home that day, I emailed them to say we had been overcharged and discussed how frustrated and upset we were with the breakfasts there that morning. All I got back was asking for my bank details so they could give me the money back they overcharged me!! No apology, no offer of anything, nothing. You should be ashamed of yourselves!! How you can run a business without qualified staff is beyond us. A cleaner and book keeper serving food and drinks, quite frankly is not good enough. Where are their food standards certificates?? Avoid at all costs! Also every time one of our family members eats here she is always sick afterwards- all that grease in the food clearly!

Naomi & Daniel seemed to be the only ones, front of house, in a busy pub / restaurant but they coped enthusiastically and well. Our group of 15 diners arrived 7.30pm and we ordered so many different dishes and the kitchen didn't disappoint! A bit of a wait but with 15 meals to prepare what else? Meals arrived all together and we were all impressed so, great food, great service and a well stocked bar. Well done Naomi, Daniel and the kitchen!

Avoid using this McDonald's for delivery services; the order received was entirely incorrect, and a refund was refused.

Was far too busy. Forgot my chips but replaced quickly. Could not get a receipt out of machine. Queued up 10mins then asked when brought food still no receipt.
