The best restaurants in Broadland East of England

I lived on the Broads and used to come here years ago in the 50s and 60s. It was one of my favourite destinations. It remains so, in fact now one of my favourites pubs in the UK. Full of the original decor and now with great locally brewed beers, superbly kept. The food is terrific, we ended up eating lunch and dinner on five occasions during our four day stay in the area. The staff extremely pleasant, friendly and engaging. And they work very hard ! Dogs, not just allowed, but made extremely welcome, like it used to be in old pubs before the ‘fun police, health and safety, E.H.O.’ brigade arrived years ago and tried to spoil it all. Great value throughout, unable to praise it enough, and will definitely be returning, …. soon I hope.

This place was our go to Chinese takeaway for 10+ years. The standard of food on our last takeaway after not ordering for over a year, it was terrible. Unfortunately after years of using them will never use again.

Sadly the golf clubhouse currently closes at 6pm in summer! The clubhouse is fine as a building. But is now lacking food options and sensible opening times

Before I write my review I have to say that it is about a visit on Boxing Day and I fully appreciate the bar staff who were there to serve us. This is one of three "must visit" pubs when I visit Broadland. We look forward to a boat trip to Salhouse Broad followed by the 20 minute walk to this warm and (usually), welcoming pub. Being attached to the Woodforde's Brewery, I can be assured of enjoying a good pint of one of their excellent ales or beers. Braving the dull, chilly and damp conditions we took the dayboat(which came with our holiday home) down river and moored at Salhouse Broad. Imagine our disappointment to find every table reserved for diners. Fairly predictable and I had considered booking but I suspected bookings would be for diners only, despite there being a large restaurant area. After first being told "No walk-ins today," in a none too friendly way, I explained our party of 6 only wanted drinks, crisps and nuts and wouldn't be there much above an hour, we weren't ejected from the premises and a kindly elderly gentleman enjoying a sofa near the Brewery "sales" area said there was now a table there. This accommodated 5 and I took the easy chair opposite, so we were able to enjoy our Boxing Day tipples before walking back for 20 minutes and enjoying the boat ride back before dusk. Throughout the time we were there many of the tables in the bar remained empty!!! Having worked over the Christmas period, on many occasions, I appreciate people who give up their "holiday" periods, often without extra pay, and as such make a point of being patient and polite. However, one would have expected a pub attached to a Brewery (in such a way that the draught beer is from barrels stored therein) would be glad of wet sales year round. Nevertheless it won't stop me aiming to visit whenever possible. Highly recommended.

We visited today, family of 3 and our dog who was allowed in the bar or in the beer garden. The beer garden is lovely with plenty of well spaced tables and for younger children lots of play equipment. Very clean and well kept. Ordering can he done via app at the table or in the bar if you want to order with a human 😉 It was fairly busy but our food and drinks came in a reasonable time and the food was lovely. Chilli burger , scampi and children's sausage. All was presented well and tasted great and was reasonably priced especially considering how overheads and produce prices have rocketed. We also saw the carvery which looked delicious too so may have to go back for that. Overall a great experience, we will definitely go back and would definitely recommend.

We went and booked the 3 course Christmas meal, and it was vey good. Prawn cocktail for starters, turkey roast with all the trimmings, there was an alternative of beef if you wanted and finished with cheese and biscuits, all prepared, cooked and served very well. Drinks were provided to the table throughout the meal. Very well priced, we recommend the food and service here!!

Lots of empty tables outside we thought we would stop and have lunch as the big a frame board outside stated home made lunches. My partner went in to get a menu only to be told we do not do food. Might explain all the empty tables. I would suggest removing the a frame advertisement as well to save wasting other peoples time.

Nice restaurant bit pricey food was good, table service for hot food. I use a stick to walk but no help in taking food and drink to table

Food was really fresh and delicious, staff were friendly, overall great atmosphere. Highly recommend

Ordered on the app for collection. Received my order promptly as there was no queue but the drinks themselves were very disappointing. Ordered a gingerbread latte with oak milk which tasted very watery and can barely taste gingerbread. Also ordered a cortado that arrived in a flat white sized cup full to the brim. Also did not not taste very nice, watery, not nice.

Always good here for a takeaway. We've been rather a lot in the last 7 years or so of living in the area. We usually have the same thing, (Set meal for 2(B) ), always well cooked & nice & excellent value....& usually enough to have some for lunch next day lol! We have compared with others in the area, though for us, New China is the best of them. Xx

I pre-ordered through just eat at 1:30 with an estimated delivery of 4-4:20pm at 4:45 the app updated to say enjoy your food. After another 20 mins I queried where my order was and received a message saying sorry your order is now being prepared and there was an hour wait. I cancelled the order and received a message today saying they won't give me a refund and hope i enjoyed the food. Would not recommend using this restaurant and if you have an issue they will still keep your money.

Solid Costa, friendly staff, open regularly till 10 which is amazing.

Never been before so thought we’d check it out! Cafe gave garden centre vibes, busy, plenty of menu choice and large cakes. Was not wowed by the English breakfast. But sausages good quality so always a win! Generous portion. But I wish it had of come with beans! Instead I got cress on top which seems strange On a full breakfast but went with it! Food came pretty fast. We visited on a weekday. The waitress was friendly and polite.
