The best restaurants in Dacorum East of England

This is a very expensive Thai restaurant with dubious claims to authenticity. The vegetable curry and egg-fried rice cost £19 and the selection of vegetables was poor being mainly bits of pepper and the odd piece of mushroom. No Thai-style vegetables. The prawn curry and egg-fried rice cost £21 so extremely expensive for a Thai restaurant. We had both these dishes in a nearby Thai restaurant significantly cheaper and much better quality. Where does the authentic bit come from, as there were no Thai people in evidence? One of the cooks maybe. On a more worrying front the place seemed somewhat grubby and it was unsurprising to discover that it has a hygiene rating of just 3. Will not be returning!

Nice people there especially Mel! they're always trying to give the best service they can! it's a good place to have cup of coffee in hemel.

Proper old fashioned boozer. We didn't eat, stopped by for a drink. Friendly atmosphere, welcoming staff.

It was very quiet when I went there for a quick lunch. I'm sure it gets busier in the Summer. The Bridge water Arms is located on the edge of the beautiful (even in winter) Ashridge forest. It is a cosy country pub with no pretensions. The food was good and not expensive. Service was quick and friendly. Well worth a visit.

We popped in for lunch, what value for the money off of the £5 epic dishes menu. 10 pieces of scampi, good size portion of chips, plenty of mushy pass. Southern fried chicken burger, brioche bun, another good size portion of chips and even few onion rings. For £5 a pop (£10 if you throw in a good beer,) I've paid a lot more, for a lot less, for no where near the quality. 3 baby guinness for £6 is also insane value. Really great value and experience.

we have place the order, what did not arrive in time. we have called them and they said will be with us in few minutes after half an hour we still didn't receive our meals and they didn't pick up the phone any more. very poor and unreliable service. finally we found our food was damped front of our door, cold and don't know how long was lying there. simple disgusting.

Beautiful village location. Turned up without a reservation and were accommodated with a smile even though it was busy. Food great, staff good with catering for dietary needs. Dog friendly

Very tasty as always and good portions

We often visit with friends for speed quizzing but this was the first time we have brought family with us for Sunday lunch. Lee the landlord was so brilliant with my granddaughter. He put her at ease and engaged in conversation with her. Lunch was great as usual and we find the friendliness of Lee and his staff absolutely wonderful.

I like this place as it is just off J 9 of the M1 and handy place to get a good meal with salad buffet rather than the usual Motorway service station junk food.
