After reading the reviews we have to say that we were very disappointed with our visit. We had the 3-course menu which was adequate but not at all exciting. Whilst each course was well cooked, the sauces and accompaniments lacked subtlety and flavours were not well balanced. Difficult to justify a Michelin star on this performance. Over the years we have used a number of Michelin restaurants but sadly this rates as the worst we have visited. It was highly priced and certainly not worth the money we were charged.

Dined here twice on our recent visit, we dine here each and every visit. We'll worth the wait if you need to queue. Staff are wonderful and the food range/quality/price is very good. Introduced family who'd never been and also loved it! Top tip - pick up bits from the deli onroute home!

We didn’t go in to eat even though I have many times and service and food always always very good, quick and friendly. On the day I am feeding back about we were quite distressed, it was very cold and our car had broken down on the Hardwick. We went into the restaurant and the young lad, very tall couldn’t have been more helpful. A huge asset to your business. Offered help and a hot drink. He said we could use the phone if we needed. In a time of need you have there a lovely human being, please give him the praise he fully deserves and look after him, he is a good one.

Food was good, staff were friendly and food was brought out within minutes of us ordering. At £28 for both of us the price wasn’t bad either. But the only problem was we did not realise that dogs were allowed into the restaurant part. At one point there were 5 big long haired dogs near us. The dogs were wet so they smelt quite bad. We ate up has fast as we could and left. We would not go back into the restaurant part again. But next time we will just get takeaway,

Lovely decor and atmosphere as is expected for castle rising area, had a lovely cuppa and why the brownie wasn't anything good or something I recommend (in this case thr toffee crispy brownie), the aforementioned atmosphere makes up for this . Prices are reasonable.

The restaurant is very popular and the staff are welcoming and helpful. However I was disappointed by the food. The Katsu chicken was just a piece of chicken breast covered by a thin layer of crumbs, with a deepfried kale leaf which tasted oily. My dessert was described as saffron poached pear in white chocolate ganache. It turned out to be four thin yellow slices of pear stuck down with a thick gluey sauce... I think this recipe needs altering . I am coming again in a few weeks time so I hope the cooking improves.
