The best restaurants in North Norfolk East of England

We decided to visit as we knew one of the staff members (Charlie) from a previous hotel We called in advance to change our booking from one night to two and this was very well dealt with by Dean On arrival Dean greeted us and showed us to our room and made sure we were made welcome In the afternoon we we had a few drinks in the bar and all staff members were extremely friendly Our evening meal was one of the best meals we have had for a very long time and Hannah looked after us well. Meal the second night was equally as good Charlie was surprised to see us for breakfast and made us very welcome and the breakfast was amazing - if anything too big! We have arranged to visit again in a couple of months and would highly recommend

Excellent coffee and friendly service in a beautiful old barn. We both ate the hot Christmas sandwich and were underwhelmed by a very small thin piece of dry turkey, some OK stuffing and a rather anaemic sausage with bacon. The ciabatta roll was nice….. All for an expensive £12.95. We use to go the Back to Garden a lot before covid struck and it has struggled since then. It is now an out reach of Jarrolds of Norwich. Apparently they have great plans but they need to improve their offering to persuade us to return again.

We enjoyed a fabulous lunch sitting by the window with a gorgeous view towards the pier where afterwards we were headed to watch the end of pier Xmas show . This was our third visit to Upstairs at No I and as on our previous visits it did not disappoint. Oysters and Tempura prawns followed by fish and chips and halibut in a to die for white wine sauce with baby leeks and samphire - we were in heaven. The food was really well cooked and the service perfect. We will be back !

I have to be honest, we can't describe how disappointed we were with our Christmas day dinner 2024. We spent £330.00 for four of us, and we didn't even receive a drink on arrival. Instead we were ushered to the back of the pub having waited about 15 minutes to get to the bar due to the locals being served. Rubbery potatoes, and cold veg, chewy, fatty, beef. Spending this sort of money, I expected better treatment. Very disappointing. Will definitely be cooking Christmas dinner at home in future. Shame.

My husband and I went to Wells Deli for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious! Super fresh and full of flavour! Staff really friendly and welcoming and love the fact it’s dog friendly too😊

Roast pork very dry and bland. Staff not very polite. Used be our favourite pub to go to. Hopefully they will improve after emailing them as well

Staff ignoring you at the bar. Drinks tasting of fish (the lemonade) the lasagna tasted microwaved. And bland. I got the feeling this was a locals bar. You know the feeling, you walk in and everyone stops and stares at you. Sorry Ollie’s. You need to do better!

Stayed for my wife's birthday nice old hotel room with lots of character. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food very tasty

The most delicious freshly prepared Punjabi food for those with a discerning palette. If you want basic run of the mill Indian go somewhere else. As locals and regular customers who has tasted Indian food for decades, we have made this restaurant our favourite regular place to go. Always served with grace and smiles by this hardworking team.

Been going to the Clifton for over ten years, not staying but dining, drinks etc, spent an absolute fortune, always been friendly and great place, since it’s been took over what a change, we were here last year, only managed to get in once, place was dead, but staff say they only serving residents, now we we spend a few hingmdred pound a time and the place is dead, what’s going on, staff rude , I hope the new owners see this review as we normally here in cromer 6 weeks or more a year, used to eat every day in here but never again will I return, been turned away, rudely too many times, good luck but I bet this place has lost a fortune, keep clear of the place head into cromer, much friendlier now

Well what can I say.What a contrast from 2023.John and the team gave us a great welcome for our christmas dinner.The whole venue was well decorated.The food was great and plenty of staff to make us feel very welcome. As we had problems in 2023 I would like to congratulate John and the team for a wonderful effort. WELL DONE J C B

Went for Xmas Dinner on Xmas Day. All booked in advance. Could not have been a smoother operation. Everything went like clockwork and the food was fantastic. The atmosphere was lovely and our Spaniel was well looked after. We have used this pub many times in the past and we were on holiday in the area during the festive season. The landlord and landlady and staff are brilliant and we were made very welcome. When we arrive at the Hill House we know we are on holiday. See you in 2025. Recommend to all.

Stayed in the B and B which was wonderful and homely. It is dated but had all I needed and bed was comfortable and room was clean. The view of the sea was amazing. Breakfast was well cooked and a rug put by the fire each morning with a sausage breakfast for my dog Poppy. Stayed each night for dinner which were all homemade and delicious. Bar staff were attentive and polite. Landlady Ann was just wonderful. Reasonably priced food and accommodation. I would stay again.

New owners, very friendly & new food it was all great! I stopped off whilst out on the bike and had a great bacon butty followed by superb hot fudge cake with cream!

Four of us went for a curry the food was very nice and tasty we had poppadoms and pickles which were warm and crispy and the pickles were excellent.the main courses were all very tasty and well cooked the naans were fluffy and nice all together it was very very nice and the waiters were excellent.
