First visit here and it won’t be our last, the staff are very welcoming and the menu excellent, we both had the Halloumi starter then I had the chicken sheesh with yogurt and my husband had the chicken sheesh, all of it was freshly cooked and very tasty, the portions are good and we couldn’t eat it all (sadly) I think it’s a tiny bit overpriced though.

We spent last weekend at The Angel for my husband's birthday. From the minute we arrived, we were greeted very warmly and were well looked after. They kindly upgraded us to Room 122 which was absolutely beautiful and much appreciated. The ambience in the bar areas, the lounge and the restaurant was buzzy and warm. The service by all the staff was exceptional and we will definitely be returning.

My favourite cafe in Bury. Tanya and Charlie have created a great, dog friendly environment with a good selection of yummy food and drinks. Sit outside on a warm day and watch the world go by the Abbey Gate. Can get busy so you may have to wait a while for a seat at busy times

First visit with family today, what a treat! Fantastic food, hot, fresh and a absolutely great choice of dishes. Huge shout out to the staff too. Sadly didn't get his name but the guy looking after us made us feel at ease as soon as we walked in. So polite with a great sense of humor. I myself was not sure of the "spiciness" of some dishes, he kindly brought out an array of the sauces they use (yes some were extremely hot) My dish was customised to my taste changing steak to chicken with no problem at all. We all had something different and all four dishes were amazing. We were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill too. Fab reasonable prices. Give Amigos a look if your close, you won't be disappointed. Thanks Amigos see you again soon!

1921 Angel Hill is a lovely welcoming restaurant with friendly and professional staff. The idea of the ever popular tasting menu is a good one as it allows you to sample different dishes. The food is thoughtful, innovative and tasty, with the standout dish being the mersea crab (amazing!). However, I thought it was expensive for the small portion sizes and I was disappointed with the duck replacement dish (a goats curd cannoli). I totally understand the concept, as I have enjoyed many “tapas style” tasting menus in the past. However, to spend £150 (for 2 people including 3 drinks) yet leave not feeling totally full was a little disappointing. 1921 is an enjoyable, elegant evening and I recommend the experience.

Mean Spirited - The first experience of taking along a birthday cake for a close friends 60th birthday to be told we can light it but you can’t eat it here!!! Should point out that the food we did eat was great, but this won’t be our venue of choice for future celebrations.. shame.

We arrived for a booked table for lunch on 11thDec and a lot of things were already off the menu ( specials board) . We had a light lunch and then when I went to restaurant. Side counter to pay and to order coffees I was directed to the counter on the other side . They then said my coffee would appear on the high shelf. I left my friend ( on her own) 3 times to retrieve the coffee and the last time I asked and was told someone else had taken it. By this time it was time for the start of the film and I had to take my coffee in with me. It’s appalling we weren’t served coffee at our table. I won’t be returning and I will be putting others off .

We held our intimate wedding reception here in their private function room. Room was the perfect size and location is brilliant. The value for money is second to none! The quality and selection of food was amazing, we had a set menu to choose from prior to the event for the adults and children, the selection on both menus was brilliant and we were all very happy with every dish served. Ontop , the staff were also brilliant, attentive, efficient, friendly and welcoming. Really over the moon with every aspect, and we have already decided to return for our 1 year anniversary as enjoyed the venue so much!

Brilliant tour today of the Greene King Brewery. Despite not minding a beer or two, I’d never been on a brewery tour before and my knowledge of the beer making process was virtually non existent, but not anymore! Paul, our guide, was very engaging and a walking encyclopaedia of beer, brewing and local knowledge. Rounded off with a very generous tasting paddle, I was able to sample beers I probably wouldn’t normally try. Great experience and highly recommended.
