This was a team Xmas lunch. We had booked our food prior to arrival. On the day two of our team had to change deserts due to the desired items being out. Thr change was quick and efficent. The food was very good, and the presentation top notch.

Was given a £50.00 token for my birthday. Booked and went today. Dressed smartly. Parked in car park which was full of puddles and ended up entering the hotel with muddy boots and trousers. Felt embarrassed but needn't have worried. Receptionist was busy on the phone so found our own way to restaurant. We both ordered beef. Literally couldn't cut it, the potatoes were also tough (reheated?). The waitress asked us if everything was ok and I pointed out the beef and potatoes. She offered us a steak knife which we took. I gave up with my beef and potatoes my husband valiantly carried on. The puddings were good. The hotel had the vibe of a hostel, the clientele wondering around in jeans, wellies and trainers, lots of children running around (I was told later on that this was a family hotel), we had people with stocking feet, wellies and dressing gowns in the restaurant. The staff were great but the food was not. When we received the bill we saw a discount of £6.00 on it, I asked what this was for and apparently this was supposed to cover the meal I couldn't eat.

Saw that Bills was closing, which is a terrible shame as a favourite brunch spot of mine and my partners for the great gluten free options, so on Saturday 29th July we popped in for brunch. In the past we would always be warmly welcomed at the front. On this occasion we waited at the front for a few minuets with no sign of any staff. A few minutes later a young waitress walks down the steps, looks at us and then starts clearing a table, but putting items on a tray. She then looks at us again, then walks over to another table to ask how their food is, then returns to clearing the table. She looks at us again and finally decides to walk over after ignoring us for close to 5 minuets, it’s now been nearly ten minuets since we walked in! She walks over “table for two?” - I reply “Yes please” and I continue to say “one gluten allergy” but she interrupted me and said “just a second” before picking up two menus and walking off without us. My partner and I looked at each other and both said “nope” and we walked out. Service at Bills in the past was always superb. Always asked for allergies at the door and seated quickly. Which given service charge is included you’d expect. On this occasion is was severely lacking, I assume in part due to staff being aware the store is closing and there no longer being a reason to care about standards. We walked to Edmundos instead, we were greeted within seconds of walking in and as soon as we said a table for two the following question was “any allergies?” For me as someone with Coeliac this immediately settles me. The food was also great. Shame to lose bills, but thankfully Edmundos is there and doing a great job.

Very poor, where to start. slow service waitresses with lack of experience, had to chase up coffees and then had to get someone's attention to order more drinks. Builders breakfast basic and lukewarm at best serviced on a plate and then a bowl? This would be easier both to serve and to eat on a plate, the waitress nearly dropped it on the table as it was heavy. No management figure present with no attention to detail. With so many options in Bury S Edmunds I will not be returning, reading other comments I don't think this place is very popular it seems. My advise spend your money elsewhere

First visit. All staff very friendly and welcoming. Nice busy pub with a pleasant atmosphere. Had the Sunday carvery which didn't disappoint. Good choice of turkey, beef and gammon with a varied choice of vegetables. Following a perfect Sunday lunch we will be returning again. Recommend booking well in advance to avoid disappointment.

We arrived just after 6pm in time for the Early Bird offer advertised outside of the restaurant which stated before 6.30. The waiter eventually took our order after 30 minutes and said we had missed the early bird offer. After much haggling and a very complicated 'what's included in the offer/not included' we placed an order with the offer agreed with the waitir. However, we were still waiting for our food 30 minutes later despite only 2 people being in the restaurant! The manager was rude and intimidating. We left paying for our drinks and starter. An awful experience! Would not recommend.

Ordered last Friday evening the food was lovely however the delivery driver was really rude and disrespectful, sat in his car smoking and called us to tell us we had to come outside to collect our food of him ?! Then proceeded to moan at my partner because the address was wrong on the paper but it wasn't wrong when he showed my other half and not to mention he kept blowing cigarette smoke in his face 🤢 will not be retuning.

The most appalling Christmas Day Lunch I have ever experienced in my 57 year life so far and for over £100 per head I was most upset. Nothing about the meal today resembled the photographs on this site or the promise of a ‘gourmet’ meal in the marketing materials. There was no welcome, glasses were dirty, cutlery worn and poorly cleaned, my seat was failing/broken, coffee cups were out on the table at the start of the meal, the staff told us they were hired in for the day and were clearly not trained in service as the bread was served by the waiters using their hands to put it onto the plates!!! The waiter even scraped the plates clean at the table when clearing away. There was no form of any welcome on arrival, my salmon was still attached to the skin so was inedible, the sorbets were mainly melted into fluid, there was nothing ‘gourmet’ about any of the experience - the turkey, the gravy or any of the vegetables - and was worse than the most basic of reheated microwave pub grubs. A total disappointment
