We booked a table for 6.30 as we needed to be in the Arts centre for 8 o’clock, table wasn’t set already , they brought out poppadums that were stale ( yesterdays I reckon ) , we ordered within 5-10mins , not a difficult order just 5 curry’s and rice , no side orders to make it easy After chasing twice was told will be 10 minutes, so at 7.40 when it still hadn’t arrived ,we had to leave as we would not have time to eat it . We were the only people in the restaurant at the time ( can understand why now ) and the phone didn’t ring once for any take away orders .

Went in for a drink and toasty, only one member of staff actually serving, she was doing everything solo, whilst 5 members of staff stood around talking, one of the staff members was constantly playing with her hair around the food prep area, and another messing with her eyelashes, none of them helping the other member of staff.

My partner and myself have stayed here on many occasions over the last 12 years, including the last Christmas. The manager Adam and his partner Nat can never do enough for you, easily the most accommodating manager we've had during these visits. We have never had any issues with our stays, even after experiencing squirrels in the loft last Christmas they up graded us to a superior room....... a great touch as it didn't really bother us and only mentioned it so that they were aware of the problem. Chrismas dinner was well executed and again with no issues. I even left 3 t-shirts behind and Adam sent them to me, eventhough I didn't ask and just assumed that I had lost them through my stupidity..... well done guys !!!! Looking forward to their refit in April and already have booked our next visit shortly after. Again cannot recommend this place more, so give it a try. Cheers guys, Paul & Debs

Went to this gem of a venue in the heart of Bury St. Edmunds. Upon arrival we were quickly met, seated and looked after by our Waiter Nathaniel. He did a grand job of looking after us, helping me choose a speciality tea (Russian Caravan - smokey and warming, like drinking fine tea beside a roaring log fire). The drinks, miniature afternoon tea, atmosphere and service were excellent. Following this first visit I can say with certainty, it won't be the last. Well done Team Harriet in Bury St Edmunds... Merry Christmas and happy, busy, successful new year.
